What is RacesAndClasses?
RacesAndClasses (RaC) was made to bring the best RPG experience to Minecraft servers. You are able to customize your own classes and races, making your server a world full of adventure! RaC is inspired by the biggest MMORPG game in the world, known as World Of Warcraft.
Core Features of RaC
- Make different races and classes
- Every part can be customized
- Change the way players chat
- Change gameplay on your server significantly
- Provide RPG experiences to the PvE and PvP environment
- Add spells, totems and other WoW items in Minecraft, without a mod
- Have players choose their own playstyle and gameplay
Plugins with RaC
RaC works with almost any plugin! Mcmmo, heroes, faction and towny. These are the most commonly used plugins for this plugin and they all work 100%
RaC offers plenty of configuration, for each individual server. For example some server owners love the teleport arrow for raiding, and some don't; so It's all up to you.
Developers guide
RaC is as mentioned, a customizable plugin, that also counts for custom traits.
This means, that any developer can make their own traits and make his/her server even more special!

Important notices
First of all: All these components can be disabled in the config!
Gravity's Updater:
For legal reasons and for uploading this plugin to Bukkit I have to mention, that the plugin has an updating service which connects to 'http://www.curseforge.com/'. This includes:
- Checking the Version of the plugin against the newest release Version.
- Downloading the newest Version if enabled.
Error Uploader:
Also the Plugin uses an Error Uploding Service, which connects to my Domain: www.tobiyas.tk.
This includes:
- Reading Errors from the error.log located at plugins/RacesAndClasses/debug/error.log
- Uploading these errors to my domain (www.tobiyas.tk)
- The Errors are visibly ONLY to me (Tobiyas) and are regularly checked to find and fix bugs faster than via Tickets.
Hidendra's Metrics:
The plugin uses Hidendra's Metrics service and sends Metrics data of your Server to the Metrics at 'http://mcstats.org/'. This includes:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
All these services are optional and can be disabled via Configuration.
UPDATING From 1.1.6 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use the config.raceMaxHealth: ... of a race, this has been removed with 1.1.7.
You now have to use config.healthbonus: ... (as in classes) instead.
You get 20 base health + race healthbonus + class health bonus.
UPDATING FROM 1.0.3 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: true
Set this option to false and do a restart with the old Version. For best Use with 1.0.3 (RC 2)! This will convert all File DB related Data to YML data. If you do NOT do this, your PlayerData will be LOST!!!
If you have
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: false
you can safely ignore this step.
Known Bugs for Current Version (1.2.0)
Only runs on Bukkit distros using Spigot API (spigot, paper, ...).
@jazxxxxccxxxxxxxxxcxxxxx
Can you send me a complete excerpt of the log via pasebin as private message or as ticket?
We do not need to spam the message board here.
I'm running the latest version of RaC(If just clicking download twice gives you that) and what I believe to be the latest version of Spigot. I'll be updating it now...
And as for Bukkit Distro, I'm assuming Essentials counts.
Still getting the same error. In console is says both "ERROR:
while scanning for the next token found character '\t' that cannot start any token in "<unicode string>", line 1, column 94: ... 9org.bukkit.event.EventException at org.bukkit.plugin.java.JavaP ... ^ " and after starting, "ERROR:
while scanning for the next token found character '\t' that cannot start any token in "<unicode string>", line 1, column 112: ... s'java.lang.NullPointerException at de.tobiyas.racesandclasses.p ... ^"
@jazxxxxccxxxxxxxxxcxxxxx
Which version of RaC and Bukkit are you using? Also which bukkit distro?
The plugin won't load, and yes, I made sure I installed Vault. The current error I have is "ERROR:
mapping values are not allowed here in "<unicode string>", line 1, column 63: ... n: Plugin does not have database: true in plugin.yml ^" After running it through the YAML Parser you suggested.
I can't get the GUI to work whenever i press add it simply does nothing
I'm having some issues with player speed. I have two races that have increased speed, and 7 others that have regular speed. However, when I switched from a race that had increased speed to one that didn't, I retained the increase. I changed to another race that had regular speed, but their speed was reduced.
I tried setting the speed of all races afterwards to see if that would remedy the issue, but it hasn't. Any ideas?
@Tobiyas
Okay, thanks for the info on race teams, So I would have a WarZone, where players within the same race wouldn't be able to fight, but in the wild, everyone could fight everyone. Also, I disabled channels, but they are still there.... the format is still there, the [world][Orc][Elderzz] one Im going to try to remove chat control plugin maybe that is causing it...
Also, whenever a player join the server, this message sort of message is displayed: %&d
Its not that exact, but something like that, cant remember on top of my head.

@ShadyVADER
Glad I can help.
Hey Tobiyas I like the idea of turning the permission nodes for the traitbind on and off (true/false) in the config to enable assigning permission nodes to each individual node like we were discussing. or you can use it the original by turning it off or not use it at all turn whole traitbind system off. I am hoping it is no where near as complicated as it sounds to me as being a non-coder (but a good idea guy) and we are hoping to see this in the next update as a longterm feature.
@Tobiyas
Okay. Thank you for the help! I can't wait to fully implement your plugin on my server :D
@ShadyVADER Yes. That should work. Must it does not work with all attributes.
@Tobiyas
Thank you for responding so fast! :)
Can you also change what modifiers do? (Not like in the examples you gave on the page)
ex. ManaRegenerationTrait: time: 30 value: 2.5 onlyInDay: true minLevel: 10 modifiers: - 'level:50:0.5:time' - 'level:30-50:2:value'
Like change the time, duration, chance, applications - stuff like that?
@ShadyVADER
No. Only magic traits or arrows can have cost.
Yeah that is how it should work..
If an ability is not necessarily a Magic Trait, can I still have a mana cost for them?
ex. TrollbloodTrait: value: 5 cost: 20.0 minLevel: 15
Also, the modifier part kind of causes some confusion for me because of how it's worded. If I write it like this, is it proper?
ex. DamageIncreaseTrait: operation: * value: 1.1 minLevel: 5 modifiers: - 'level:15-30:1.1:value' - 'level:31-50:1.25:value'

You should start reading the documentation.
Races and Classes are different stories and they can not be mixed in one selection screen.
To create a new Race / Class, please refer to the help pages How to build your own Race and How to build your own Class.
No idea what went wrong with the tags. Since you did not provide any information other than, that it does not work. If you are having problems with it, please create a ticket and I can look at it with more details than in the comment section.
The comment section is NO support / ticket forum!
@ElderzzTR
Hey, glad you are capeable of using the plugin for your needs.
Not attacking your race-members is actually not directly implemented.
You can still do a workaround via RaceTeams.
Therefore each race is it's own team.
This can be done in the 'raceTeams.yml' which is found near the 'config.yml'.
To use this file, you have to enable it in the 'config.yml', under 'race_teams_enable'. Otherwise the raceTeams.yml will be ignored.
Example:
Regions where this is enabled / disabled are not present at this moment.
I guess you want something like an 'All-PVP' zone for that, if I understand that right?
Disabling PVP damage in specific areas can be done via other plugins like WorldGuard or others.
The RaC Channels can be completely disabled via the config.yml.
It's actually the 3rd. point (chat_channel_enable), so I guess you did not really read into the config that much.
Heya, I started on my own server, and it is mostly based around your plugin. I have a couple of questions for things I need the plugin to do: - How can I make the players within their own race not being able to pvp, while being able to pvp with other players from other races. - How can I make that the first feature only works in a specific area. - How do I turn off the channel feature that RaC provides.
Have a nice day, and thanks for your time!
I have abunch of questions. First off, how do I add a new class? Second off, how do I make all the classes show up on the race selector? Thirdly, I was trying to edit how the Elf tag looks, and it wasn't working, I edited the Orc succesfully, but something is happening with Elf. I am doing the same thing I was doing with the Orc, for the elf, but it is being buggy? I am going to ask more questions, as I get more into the plugin, so sorry about that. :)
@rlphlaw
This is probabily possible.
Maybe turning on via config.
@Tobias Just a thought but wouldon't it be possible to establish a permission per each slot that could be granted through level progression?
@rlphlaw
Hey, thankyou and glad to hear that you like the plugin.
This is not possible. I am not even sure how I would add it.
But I will look into it.
