Player Heads
Ever PVP someone or PVE a mob and get no good loot? Feel like you deserve a trophy for your victory? Want a simpler alternative to bigger plugins that implement everything but the kitchen sink? Then PlayerHeads is right for you! You can now lop off enemies heads in battle, and mount it on a pole for all to fear, wear your opponent's face as a mask like camouflage, or just collect all of the mob heads.
Installation
Place PlayerHeads.jar in your plugins folder, on server start the configuration will be generated. Remember to remove any outdated playerheads jars when adding the new one.

Documentation
Notes
- PlayerHeads is now translatable! Edit "lang.properties" to whatever phrases you desire.
- lang files will change between releases, when updating be sure to delete the old file if you haven't edited it.
- If you've given people the * permission node, they will get 100% drop rates. If you don't want this to happen, deny (or add negative) nodes for the following: playerheads.alwaysbehead and playerheads.alwaysbeheadmob
- If you want to disable head drops in a specific world, use your permission plugin to deny (or add negative) nodes for the following in that world: playerheads.canbehead and playerheads.canbeheadmob
- If you have any problem using "lang_[language]_[country]_[variant].properties" for any reason, just use the file name "lang.properties" to override messages.
- Spawn mob heads with the following names: #creeper #zombie #skeleton #wither #spider #enderman #enderdragon ... (any many more!)
Known issues
- Renamed heads (with an anvil) don't stay renamed after placing, mining, dropping them.
- If for any reason your mob heads loose their name, you can get it back by placing and mining it.
- If you use the BountyHunters plugin and you have enabled head drops for bounties as well as player head drops from PlayerHeads, both will be dropped - for now, you should disable one or the other. Alternative solutions are being looked at.
- If you use JPerms, users with Op or playerheads.* permission will receive playerheads.alwaysbehead[mob] permissions and have 100% droprate since PlayerHeads permissions nodes are ignored. It's recommended to use another permissions plugin if this is a concern (LuckPerms, PermissionsEX, GroupManager).

Server Support
Current versions of the plugin have been tested as compatible on the following server environments:
- Spigot/Paper 1.8-1.18.2 (Use PlayerHeads 5.20.2 or lower; READ NOTE)
- Spigot/Paper 1.19-1.20.4
Server environments that are known to be incompatible:
- Glowstone 1.12 (only partial support is available in PlayerHeads 5.20.2 and lower)
Support should exist for any modern bukkit server with access to authlib which is needed to set textures.
Legacy version notes:
- 5.x drops support for older usernamed-based mobheads (3.x), fixing some longstanding issues with spawn commands; uses vanilla and texured heads exclusively (4.x)
- 4.x introduces new, more reliable support for head textures, more configuration options, updated mobs, and more consistent permission behavior and will continue to receive updates in the future - some older configurations may be incompatible (see the changelog and Configuration page). This version automatically upgrades 3.x heads to 4.x when breaking or dropping heads.
- 3.x maintains the original behavior of the plugin with username-based mobheads, but head skins may be less reliable over time and support has been discontinued.

Not Working for me on Spigot 1.8.8
Works a little time on 1.8.7 but one day all Drops a Steve/Alex
Same with the /give command
Citizens also not working with Skins...
I have no Clue why do not works for me:(
Anyone can Help me or have Ideas?
Best regards
Take your time, but an update to 1.9 would be killer! My players can deal without cool heads for a little while. :-P
Update for 1.9 please.
When players update their skins their heads don't update, is there a way to make this possible?
@nakkettaja
That's because the account connected to the rabbit head is not protected by the plugin writers. The person who owns that account changed his IGN so the account that was associated with the rabbit head no longer exists.
Rabbit skin is Steve atm. Could you fix it?
error,
Rabbit head mob drop, skin changed. https://gyazo.com/6ef9e100e5724f40fda54aa0d50c1b3f
For everyone having issues: I'm using PlayerHeads seemingly flawlessly on my 1.8.8 Spigot server with PlayerHeads 3.10 (the most updated one here on BukkitDev). The rest of you that are saying you're having issues all specify you're on other sub-1.8 versions (1.8.3 - 1.8.7). It seems that the problem with this plugin is, as fuzzybat23 said below, something that was wrong with Craftbukkit/Spigot in those versions. 1.8.8 works completely fine, I've been running it on my server since I updated 1.8.8 over a week ago and there's been no issues with crashes/kicks/heads reverting, and heads are still dropping.
Hi !
We have a strange issue !
head of players are not dropped
i have the lastest build with lastest 1.8.7 spigot
if you have an idea ?!
thanks
placed skulls are not updating to new skins / name changes?
does looting enchantment work?
I'm running Spigot 1.8.6. Whenever I try to give myself a player head or a mob head, it appears as Steve. The only heads that work are skeleton heads, either heads, and zombie heads. Everything else is just the default skin.
My problem is that even after my players had all their custom heads, mobs and players alike, already placed around their homes as decoration, etc.....half of them have just turned to either a black skull that says NULL or a steve/alex head.
The problem with heads spawning as Alex or Steve isn't a bug with Playerheads, but with Bukkit itself. I just spent an hour testing it and got the exact same results. If your active inventory slots have an empty slot, you'll get the right head, but if your active inventory is filled, then you get a Steve or Alex head. This happens for either playerheads when you kill a mob or with the /give name skull 1 3 {SkullOwner:"MHF_mob"} command. This also happens if you kill la mob and a hopper snatches up the head. You can see it's the right head just before it gets sucked in, but when you check the chest, you get an Alex or Steve instead. I recreated this test using the /give command only on a server without playerheads loaded, same results. Then I loaded up a 1.8.8 stock server and used /give again. This time I got the correct head even if my active inventory slots were all filled with an item.
Note: Also, while the skull, for most skulls, look like an Alex or Steve in inventory, and when you wear them, if you place them then you get the correct skull. However, if you break the skull, for some you get the Alex or Steve. For others you get the correct skull. This is definitely a bug within Bukkit itself.
For some reason if i spawn someones head it creates long periods of low fps in the server.
@hutt132
Same issue randomly alex and steve heads are aboud ;) might look into this ;)
Having the same issue as the guy below. All player heads are either Steve or Alex right now. Running 1.8.7 Spigot with PlayerHeads 3.10 (most recent).
Thanks.
Player and mob heads are randomly turning into steve or alex heads this past week. Could you look into this please?
Ok so I adore this plugin, but it is indeed a little touchy, if its out of date it stops working. I was wondering if someone could help me resolve an issue with it. The player heads (only in inventory not chests) are reverting back to Steve if the player holding the head is offline for a few hours.. any idea on what could even cause this? They spawn in ok, if I'm only logged out for short time its fine if its placed or in a chest no issues. But if it is in a players inventory, they log out over night and come back its just Steve, no special names nothin...
I have tried updating and reinstalling both Spigot and this plugin, I am running Spigot 1.87 atm, and it was running fine for about a week before this. I also have essentials, worldguard, worldedit and a few other plugins but I think the others cant interfere, but again I cant find anything regarding if its this one or not. Thoughts?
