MessageChangerLite
MessageChangerLite
This plugin should be still working on newer builds, so please try before asking.
A simple plugin which allows you to change the server's default messages which will be displayed during login, logoff, server down, kick, server full and more to whatever you want.
If you would like assistance in person, you can find me in IRC as Zach443 here.
Features
- Change the server's default messages
- Display a message to the player when he changes worlds
- Implements Metrics so that I know it is worth doing this.
Based upon FrozenBrains MessageChanger.
Configuration
Will create a config.yml file on first run in the plugins/MessageChangerLite directory. Edit the messages as you like and restart or reload the server to make them active.
%pName is the playername
%world is the worldname
%msg is the default mesage
You can use colorcodes from here
The example config contains already 2 permission nodes for displaying custom messages based on permissions.
If the EVENT like SERVER_FULL doesn't exist, for example in permnode1 the plugin will fall back to the messages configured in the default section.
Permissions
Looking at the sample / default config:
- permnode1 is messagechanger.message.permnode1
- permnode2 is messagechanger.message.permnode2
Of course you can call permnode1 and permnode2 whatever you like.
NOTE: Permissions will be parsed based on the categoryOrder config node.
As soon as the plugin finds a permission it will try that category, if it doesn't find a message than it will fall back to the default!

FAQ
- Q: Join and Leave messages are not working, the rest is.
A: You need to turn off Join / Leave messages in AdminCMD - Q: I see strange results with the permission nodes. Why?
A: I do parse the permission nodes in the categoryOrder, but I fall back to default if a permission node doesn't have a message.
So I don't check for more than ONE permission node!

@Tallcraft @DonRedhorse
I've seen this been discussed before in IRC. It's hard coded into the client or something to that effect to where you can't change the message via a plugin.
@Tallcraft
thanks for the praise, but the outdated server message can only be changed if bukkit implements that feature..
This plugin has got really big potential,it is an easy way to change the servers default messages, this is really useful because you e.g. can use the bukkit whitelist mode as maintenance mode or tell the users to downgrade their client instead of just telling them that the server is outdated. also there is no alternate plugin. it is really sad that noone is really developing on it and i would like to see someone picking it up. :)
@NorthAntrim
try \n don't know if it works
@Tallcraft
oh well... will take a look..
Any way to add a line break? It'd be useful for adding more information or something like 'You are not on the whitelist (line break) Visit: URL'
@DonRedhorse
Sorry, my fault then.
It still happens, yes (1.2.5-R4.1)
@Hol7y96
hmm.. did you try to use the codes for it?
@Tallcraft
did you see my message in the issues?
I have no idea why that would happen, does it still happen? If yes I need to look into the bukkit code because if they changed the internals.
He seems to be inactive
@DonRedhorse Could you change the plugin status then? Ive waited for weeks now.
I know you're not accepting feature requests but would it be possible to allow bold, underlined, italic and crossed out writing aswell.
Thanks
@Tallcraft
no... just was a little bit busy..
@DonRedhorse
Inactive ? :/
@DonRedhorse
Created a ticket about that: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/messagechangerlite/tickets/10-wrong-message-location/ Is not even working on a clean bukkit-server, so I guess it is a bug.
@Lostwave
added additional check for correct permissions... thanks
@Tallcraft
could you post a debug file of the stuff happening.. the config atm looks ok.
@DonRedhorse
Nevermind, I think I figured that out. The only problem that still persists is the output problem. My config-file: http://pastie.org/4031894
@Tallcraft
hmm... honestly dont know.. could you post your config via pastie.org
@DonRedhorse
Can the plugin cause this: https://bukkit.atlassian.net/browse/BUKKIT-1738 ? This error is occuring on my server and MessageChanger is the only plugin changing so much in bukkit.
@Tallcraft
I get this too. And actually have for a long time.
