MessageChangerLite
MessageChangerLite
This plugin should be still working on newer builds, so please try before asking.
A simple plugin which allows you to change the server's default messages which will be displayed during login, logoff, server down, kick, server full and more to whatever you want.
If you would like assistance in person, you can find me in IRC as Zach443 here.
Features
- Change the server's default messages
- Display a message to the player when he changes worlds
- Implements Metrics so that I know it is worth doing this.
Based upon FrozenBrains MessageChanger.
Configuration
Will create a config.yml file on first run in the plugins/MessageChangerLite directory. Edit the messages as you like and restart or reload the server to make them active.
%pName is the playername
%world is the worldname
%msg is the default mesage
You can use colorcodes from here
The example config contains already 2 permission nodes for displaying custom messages based on permissions.
If the EVENT like SERVER_FULL doesn't exist, for example in permnode1 the plugin will fall back to the messages configured in the default section.
Permissions
Looking at the sample / default config:
- permnode1 is messagechanger.message.permnode1
- permnode2 is messagechanger.message.permnode2
Of course you can call permnode1 and permnode2 whatever you like.
NOTE: Permissions will be parsed based on the categoryOrder config node.
As soon as the plugin finds a permission it will try that category, if it doesn't find a message than it will fall back to the default!

FAQ
- Q: Join and Leave messages are not working, the rest is.
A: You need to turn off Join / Leave messages in AdminCMD - Q: I see strange results with the permission nodes. Why?
A: I do parse the permission nodes in the categoryOrder, but I fall back to default if a permission node doesn't have a message.
So I don't check for more than ONE permission node!

I'm not really sure what other messages should be added o.o
@Devil_Boy
Okey, are you planning on adding more messages? or fixing some bugs if there is any. Nothing changed since Sep 07 2012
@evil_pro @ThePlayingNoob
Sorry, wasn't subscribed to the comment thread on this plugin...
It seems like Essentials has a delay before it changes a player's display name... There is no clean way to fix the issue. The Essentials developers should set the display name right when the player joins.
What you planning on next update?

@ThePlayingNoob
Any chance you can link to Essentials' source? I should probably check on the priority of their onJoin listener.
Yey this plugin got a dev. when you think there will be 1.4.7-R1 Relase? and a bug: My admins have nick name and leave message look like this: [Leave] (Admin have his nick name on leave) Left The Game And On Join: [Join] (Admins default minecraft name - no nick name) Joined The Game
could you fix it so if you have nick name you will join with it. Im using Essentials. Regards
@DonRedhorse
Won't let you down :O
Devil_Boy will take over the plugin, thanks!

Hi,
the message that the version is out of date is only cosmetic..
so does this plugin not work anymore?
Concerning DeathMessages: Not for Bukkit sorry...
Pleeeeaaasse update i need this wonderful plugin!! :(((( I also have something for you to-do-list: deathmessages! so you wont need any other plugins for that. but please make changing deathmessages = 2-3 messages per event so they randomly change
I am also getting
as well
this comes up with the latest dev build of bukkit 1.4.4 and the last beta build for 1.4.2
@Yndi74
hmm strange... as it is mainly cosmetic I will look into it as soon we have a working 1.4.2 build to make sure it also works with the new cb version if you don't mind.
thanks for the information.
I get this error:
21:07:34 [WARNING][MessageChangerLite] is out of date!
21:07:34 [WARNING][MessageChangerLite] This version: 2.1; latest version: 2.10.
I use messagechangerlite 2,10
@Hol7y96
hmm I will need to look into that, atm I replace &([a-f0-9]) with colorcodes... does anybody has a code list handy?
@DonRedhorse
Yes, sorry for the late response I did try using codes.
@Pythros
no it's hardcoded into the minecraft server code, and I can't change that.
@Pythros
Oh right :/ thank you for the info.
