MessageChangerLite
MessageChangerLite
This plugin should be still working on newer builds, so please try before asking.
A simple plugin which allows you to change the server's default messages which will be displayed during login, logoff, server down, kick, server full and more to whatever you want.
If you would like assistance in person, you can find me in IRC as Zach443 here.
Features
- Change the server's default messages
- Display a message to the player when he changes worlds
- Implements Metrics so that I know it is worth doing this.
Based upon FrozenBrains MessageChanger.
Configuration
Will create a config.yml file on first run in the plugins/MessageChangerLite directory. Edit the messages as you like and restart or reload the server to make them active.
%pName is the playername
%world is the worldname
%msg is the default mesage
You can use colorcodes from here
The example config contains already 2 permission nodes for displaying custom messages based on permissions.
If the EVENT like SERVER_FULL doesn't exist, for example in permnode1 the plugin will fall back to the messages configured in the default section.
Permissions
Looking at the sample / default config:
- permnode1 is messagechanger.message.permnode1
- permnode2 is messagechanger.message.permnode2
Of course you can call permnode1 and permnode2 whatever you like.
NOTE: Permissions will be parsed based on the categoryOrder config node.
As soon as the plugin finds a permission it will try that category, if it doesn't find a message than it will fall back to the default!

FAQ
- Q: Join and Leave messages are not working, the rest is.
A: You need to turn off Join / Leave messages in AdminCMD - Q: I see strange results with the permission nodes. Why?
A: I do parse the permission nodes in the categoryOrder, but I fall back to default if a permission node doesn't have a message.
So I don't check for more than ONE permission node!

@DonRedhorse
RB 3, but this issue persists for some rbs already.
@Tallcraft
well you could enable debug and take a look.. which version of bukkit?
@Lostwave
arrggg... thanks... will fix that... so that it works with both.
My server is acting weird, can this be the plugins fault ? Message that are for players e.g.: "You are banned" ( in the kick-screen), or "Logged in from another location" are displayed in the public chat, it is really confusing the players.
heh, I finally figured out why this plugin never worked right with permissions.
In the instructions, the permissions are messagechanger.message.<level> In the code its: messagechange.message.<level>
So if anyone is having trouble getting it to work with permissions. Make sure the permission you use is messagechange.message.<level> (without an R)
Hope that helps someone.
@kevingb83
what do you mean by this?
@Dreeass
thanks
Please add "FLY KICK" =)
Great plugin, keep up the work!
@MineCraftMyph
what do you mean with that? it supports all permissions via superperms (bukkit internal)..
the only tricky part is to make sure that the category order is correct as I use that to search on a first come first served basis to find the message to display
@rareshutzu
just use "" normally... you can't leave the lines empty..
Would you be able to upgrade the Permissions to PermissionsEX (PEX) So other users would be able to use it, Thanks
How do I remove message for when a player joins in? It gives me a huge severe error because it's fighting with another plugin. http://pastie.org/3728129 EDIT: I also found out it gives the same error when people leaving...
@JoneKone
no. that is atm internal in the code
@all works with latest 1.2.4 build and shouldn' t really break with future versions
The Out Dated server or Out Dated client message, can you add them to conf?
@tmad40blue
this is an older config file, do you get any errors when it tries to create the config? normally just deleting it should work.
@Wu_Zhao
no... and I don't know if I will integrate such an option, I'm using MCDOCs atm which has this as a nice feature (including displaying admins etc).
Just to do this would be easy, but it wouldn't allow a lot of customization.
@DonRedhorse
My config file generated without the option to change the leave message... only PLAYER_JOIN.
Is it possible to have it so it says who is online ? Like this:
Welcome <playername> there are 4 other players online. Other players online: <playername> <playername> <playername> <playername>
@spunkiie
any errors? because it works for me on 1.2.3-R0.1 even
2.7 doesn't work as well
