Getting Started

How to get started with the Hunger Games Map Generator Server. (Old video tutorial here)

Download

• Download the latest HGMGS JAR file.
• Save the JAR file in the "plugins" folder of your Bukkit server.
• Recommended plugins to download (example plugin in parenthesis):
  • Block-protection plugin (PermissionsEx): to prevent players from breaking blocks in the arenas
  • Anti-cheat or cheat log plugin (NoCheatPlus): to prevent players from cheating during a game
  • World manager plugin (ModifyWorld): to change world settings of the arena like pvp or mob spawning
  • Chat manager plugin (ChatManager): to change how chat messages show up

Run

• Run your server once and stop it. This will create the configuration files, generators, settings, etc.

Customize

• Change the configuration file to your liking. Or, simply leave the defaults.
• Change the arena configuration file if you want settings other than the ones set in config.yml.
• Change the language file if you want texts to be different than the defaults.
• If using permissions and the default permissions are not suitable, set up player permissions.

Play

• Re-run your Bukkit server.
• Create a new arena with "/hg arena create" (see commands for help).
• Have players join the arena, then start the game in that arena.
• Have fun!

Optional Additions

• Set up regeneration to allow the plugin to automatically regenerate arenas.(Outdated method: batch files).
• Tweak the generator to your liking (see Advanced section here).
• Add statistic logging plugins.
