What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)

Question: When I put factions.kit.halfplayer, it won't work, even if I disable fullplayer (default) in PEX. I saw it said only for SuperPerms, but what does that mean? I researched a bit, and you use the "kits" in the root permissions.yml, but do you have to make the custom parents node yourself, like the one's in the guide were just examples?
Will factions use vault, rather than Register, in the next update?
help me! i really want to use 1.6.2 because of the spout content also but i still cannot charge people for claiming land! were forced to use an older factions 1.6.0
im using iconomy 5 and essentials eco, either option for eco or ico doesnt work.
Is there anywhere where I can determine if I want opposing faction members able to open other faction territory doors or not?

I have essentials chat and factions.....in chat the faction title shows with a letter and number (example: dUnion 7[citizen]Randomplayer: text) how do i fix this?
Is there some way the allied factions on our server could in the future set "zones" in our owned territory that will allow building and using items by all alliance members? I don't want to give alliance members full permissions to open chests and build in our entire city, just a part of it while keeping enemy factions from interacting with items there.
Just a stupid question, but is this compatible with TownyAdvanced 0.78?

I will be adding a few suggestions when I have the time, (even though I'm sure its already flooded as hell haha! ) I can't wait to see the new power update and hope it fits what our server is looking for, Thanks again and keep up the great work! As for the forums on here, that's just silly they should fix that.

Please see the documentation here. At the least, you'll need to try different values for "chatTagInsertIndex", but you'd be better off trying one of the other placement methods.

It's granted by default with the factions.kit.fullplayer permission kit. You'll need to deny that factions.list permission, much like Tybraniff posted just below.

Suggestions can be posted through the ticket system. As for adding a forum here on BukkitDev, we've considered it but the system they provide is pretty bad to honest. It uses the same WikiCreole markup parser, which is poor for normal forum posting, and last I saw it doesn't provide any sort of moderation capabilities to the plugin authors.
While all players have the same power level, you can set a permanent power level for any faction using the /f permanentpower command. We have some other ideas we're considering on how to keep things more competitive, such as players individually having a power cap which is dependent on how much land their faction has claimed (starting out low and increasing accordingly).

Amazing job on Factions! Our server has been running it since Bukkit 1.0.1-RC If you all need any help Id like to co-ordinate helping you all with future versions. Also, do you have a Donate tab? There are a few key features I would like to see implemented, If we can get those features up and running it would be great! Can we get a forum going on DevBukkit as well? This may make tracking suggestions better!
setting a default max power and a specific factions max power, or people within a certain permissions group can have there own max powers would be a nice feature, allowing people In example:
This will allow for special factions or mod factions to have there own larger power, but still give them that competitive edge that they can be overtaken. Some feedback would be lovely, and great job! Hope you like this idea.
I use PEX, yet.. anyone can create a faction among other things. Shouldn't that all be auto-denied unless assigned the actual permission. I dont want just anybody to be able to make a faction..
I have an idea for the plugin. You should add the ability for server admins to use world edit to select certain blocks.

I'm using PermissionsEx by the way.
Performance issue here: When factions attempts to auto remove players, it fails. It will keep re-attempting nonstop. Each attempt create a minor lagspike that gets worse with more players that fall under the 10 day period of inactivity.
Now this may seem that b permissions loading new players causes this, but its not. Previous lines have b perms loading players without this. This code snippet was from my console about 1 minute ago.

I can't seem to stop people from being able to use /f list. I want to block this command because it seems to crash my server if we have a lot of people online. I removed the permission "factions.list" but people are still able to use the command. I checked and they do not have any kit permissions that would give them this. Any help?

I recently installed factions and was working with chatmanager and factions to setup my chat formatting i ran into some issues i will do my best to explain them.
I am unable to put any formatting before the faction tag because using any color code overwrites the color for the faction relations it seems as factions is not putting the code before the faction tag and if it dose it then colors the whole line after the factions tag overriding any staff name colors I have set with the Pex prefix.
Ways to fix this i can think off. A. force the color code for the tag relations display to be right before the Faction tag and not Doing this would then overright any other color formatting in the name so B. Add a symbol or some thing to stop the reformating of any thing after it.
Iv messed around with this for 12+ hours there is no way for me to make this format.

I have tried using the replace system i even tried indenting the tag 3 spaces but the plugin promptly spat an error and told me to set the indent to 0
all my attempts at makiing this work ended in 1 of 3 results.
1. whole line purple (aka &5 from 1 of the <) 2. whole line ownfaction talk color. 3. all white or not able to talk at all while in faction (not able was with the error)
I also found all formatting for where data such as message or tag was inserted into the format very confusing when its just %s having it named some thing like %F for faction %M for message %N for name. would be much less confusing. another thing i noticed is with the alliance format i am unable to put any formatting between the clantag and the name as its just one %s .
If you could improve any of the problems I have highlighted above that would be awesome if not thanks for taking the time to read.
