Faction Mobs
Command a mob army to fight for your team
Want some guards to defend your territory? Faction Mobs allows you to spawn mobs aligned to your team! They'll attack enemy players and monsters! You can even order your mobs around. Make them follow you or patrol an area.
Supports:
- Factions (Including Factions UUID)
- Towny
- SimpleClans
- Kingdoms
- Feudal
Mob Types:
There are 5 mob types:Swordsman
- Sword wielding
- Base class: Skeleton with sword
- Archer
- Bow wielding
- Base class: Skeleton with bow
- Mage
- Potion throwing
- Base class: Witch
- Titan
- Base class: Iron Golem
- SpiritBear
- Base class: Polar Bear
The swordsman and archer will equip full leather armor dyed to a color of your choice.
You can modify mob attributes in the config, and you may disable them selectively if you wish.
If Lib's Disguises is used, the swordsman, archer, and mage will use player skins.
Behavior:
Your faction mobs will automatically categorize any units it meets as enemy, friendly, or neutral.
Players and faction mobs from enemy factions will be considered enemies. If set in the options, hostile mobs will also be considered enemies, with the exception of the creeper, which it will never attack. Players and faction mobs from your own and allied factions will be considered friendly. All other units are neutral.
Your faction mobs will automatically attack hostile units. It will defend itself when attacked by neutral units. It will never attack friendly units.
Note that the Mage and Archer have some rather bad aim, and may accidentally attack friendly units. You can prevent damage from friendly fire by setting noFriendlyFire to true in the config.
The config file contains many options to set various attributes to the mobs. Please look through it.
Additional Information:
- Mobs still use their original AI, just slightly modified. This means they will use the same movement patterns when attacking as they normally do.
- I used some of the obfuscated functions from Craftbukkit. This means that the plugin will only work for the version it was released for.
- The mobs are saved in file separate from the rest of the world. If you change the name of your world, the faction mobs will not transfer with it.
- If your server is prone to crashing, it is recommended you turn on the autoSave function in the config file.
- This plugin utilizes Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
- The Factions version
- Note to other devs: Faction Mobs custom entities have "CustomEntity" and "FactionMob" metadata tags
Reporting a Bug:
- Server type and version
- "Factions" plugin and version
- FactionMobs version
- error.log file if relevant
- Steps to reproduce the problem
Fan-Made Tutorial Video:
@Cortesian
Yep, that's a bug. I just uploaded v2.8.8 to fix that and a couple other things. Thanks for testing!
Yes, that's what I actually thought, but they were in enemy nations :(
@Hmmcrunchy
Oh, I've only introduced support in Faction Mobs v2.8.4. It won't work for any earlier versions.
@Cortesian
My plugin uses Towny's "nation" system to decide who's friendly with who. If 2 towns are part of the same nation, they're on the same team and the faction mobs will help each other. If you belong to a town, you cannot attack another town's mobs that are in the same nation.
Using Towny 0.89.2.23 and latest FactionMobs, if I hit a FactionMob, mobs of other towns attack me as well O_o If I am member of a town, I cannot attack other town's mobs. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
@Scyntrus
Hiya using towny 0.89.2
spigot 1.8 r0.1
no errors on startup - just enabling factionmobs
for mobs settings - I have world_monsters on but town mob spawning is off by default is that what you mean
even if I toggle town mobs on and type the spawn of a swordsman I get nothing in console just in game message below
/fm [spawn|order|color] [parameters]
if you want to pop on server to have a look I can pm IP
@Hmmcrunchy
I just tested with Towny 0.89.2.0 and I managed to get Faction Mobs to run.
There's tons of bugs though, and the "mobs" flag has to be on in Towny.
What version of CraftBukkit are you using?
Your console log should have some error message at the startup if the command just totally doesn't work.
@Scyntrus
Wow, nice :D thx
@Scyntrus
oh cool - sorry :)
I did try it but if I type in /fm spawn swordsman it just says
/fm [spawn|order|color] [parameters]
ill test it again
edit just tested with 2.87 posted to day and same
@Cortesian
Done, although Factions 2 hasn't been updated yet so no guarantees it'll work.
@sama2010
No, I refuse to add more dependencies to other projects
I'd appreciate a recompiled build for latest v1_8_R3 / 1.8.7 :)
Not sure if its a possibility or not but, are you able to add Mythic Mobs support?
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/mythicmobs/
So I could make mobs from there and then add them to factions?
Please update to 1.8 please, we would really like to use this on our server. Thank you.
@Hmmcrunchy
It's already there.
helloo
how goes the towny integration :)
Hello ! awesome plugin :D Very appreciated on my server :)
I have a question/possible addition ....
Besides the 4 types given with the plugin, how could one have, let's say, an army of chicken as mobs defending a faction claim ?
Is there a way to make more types ?
:D thank you !
@Digger105
Any error messages in the console? There should also be a file at "plugins/Faction Mobs/error.log" to look at.
Help! I have just started using this mod, whenever I try to create a faction mob, it tells me the command of how to make one but the command does not work. Please help, I really look forward to using this plugin! I removed a last comment like this one but I installed an older version and it was fixed, but the factions mobs didn't respawn in that version (V 2.8.4) (V2.8.6) is the version im using now but the problem still exists.
@Cortesian
I really can't make any guarantees about that. It'll depend on when (if ever) Sponge will ever get to a worthwhile level, whether or not any "team" plugin (Factions, Towny, etc) gets released on Sponge, and how easy it will be to do such a thing on Sponge.

Hi, as a developer of a plugin that depends on your one, I'm curious to know if you will port it to Sponge. Thanks for your amazing work :)
