I'm too lazy to upload TARDIS files to Bukkit anymore, as builds are automatically created when the plugin is updated and changes pushed to GitHub.
Version specific downloads can be found here: https://tardis.pages.dev/download
Please make sure you are using the latest Spigot/Paper builds (for the Minecraft version you are running) before installing TARDIS or creating an issue!
What it does
TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.
As a player, you can:
- Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
- Time travel to a random location.
- Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
- Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
- Take companions with you when you time travel.
- Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
- Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
- Grow new TARDIS rooms
- Use Artron Energy
- Remote control the TARDIS
- Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
- Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack

Installation
As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar, TARDISChunkGenerator.jar (look under Additional Files on the download page) and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: https://tardis.pages.dev/installation-v5
Optional installs
These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...
- Install the TARDIS-SoundResourcePack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
- Install the TARDIS-Resource-Pack to see aal the fancy textures and models (requires TARDIS v4.2 or higher).
- Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-contained world (included on the TARDIS plugin download page under Additional files).
- Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
- Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
- Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.

Bugs / Requests
Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)
WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!
Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there. Also make sure you have searched for a previous ticket with the same/similar issue (use the Filters to search closed tickets).
If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:
- Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or at Pastebin - NOT a screenshot) - this should be the log from when the server starts up right through to when the error occurs
- If no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file or other configuration file if relevant
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file if relevant
- List of other plugins on server
Stats
Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true
in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml
External web access
Version 2.8 (and higher) of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay
command) that connects to the Lingva translation service.
You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate
How can I save an area where the TARDIS can go?
How do I delete some saved destinations?
Actually that bug was fixed back in version 1.4.5.
I use PermissionsBukkit as my permissions plugin, it's seems a bit simpler than some of the others out there IMO, though the server I run for my son and his mates doesn't really require a complex setup like a public server might...
@eccentricnz
Ahh, that may be the issue... I am fairly new to this, not sure how to set special permissions. That said, I learned today that anyone who is not an Op can make a TARDIS but cannot enter even if they are the owner... so sounds like that may be the issue. I'll have to research how that permissions stuff works. Appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
@DoctrSuSE
The player(s) you have added as a companion(s) do have tardis.* permissions right?
I will whip up a debug version for you, so at least we can try and get an idea of where things are going wrong...
Ok, everything works for me with the exception of companions still....
I cannot seem to figure out why. Anything I can do to troubleshoot? I recognize you cannot reproduce the error. Not running many plugins. Lockette, TNTNotifier, AutoSaveWorld.
i have just downloaded this and have it in a file but when i drag it into minecraft nothing happens i really need some help, a video or step by step guide would be very helpful please thank you
that happend 2 me 2
@eccentricnz
Ok after installing 1.7.7 The sign is the only thing that can be taken off with nonplayer actions. The block under the door still can be taken apart with player actions. Also the /tardisprefs gives and error with an Array out of bounds with 0.
@ewized
Version 1.7.7 has new WorldGuard config options and fix for TARDIS key renaming
@DoctrSuSE
Version 1.7.7 fixes the WorldGuard soft-dependency bug, the plugin no longer packs a sad if WG is not installed
Can you give me an example of when the Police Box blocks can still be broken (apart from when in creative mode)?
Will add a couple of options to the config file:
use_worldguard: [true|false]
- to enable/disable inner TARDIS protection,and
respect_worldguard: [true|false]
- to allow/disallow travel to WorldGuard regions set up by other pluginsWill also make it so you can only rename the item specified as the TARDIS key in the config
Can you make it so you can only rename the item that you said in tardis key. Also the blue box can still be broken. Also add an option to disable worldguard regions. This is all tested with 1.7.6
@eccentricnz
Cool, thanks for the responses and the time/effort. Much appreciated.
@DoctrSuSE
All entry into the TARDIS is by right-clicking with the TARDIS key
@DoctrSuSE
This is a WorldGuard error looks like if it is not installed it will throw this. Blame lack of testing late last night... will sort it out today.
@DoctrSuSE
I need to test 1.7.6 tonight but I have never had an issue with Tardis and Lockette before.
Could that possibly be something he started to implement for WG but hasn't completed?
Not sure if this will help, this is the result of pushing the button inside the TARDIS:
@eccentricnz
1.7.6 Doesn't work for me really at all... Lots of console error spam and it creates the Tardis, but none of the commands work other than hide and rebuild. I started fresh, deleted the Tardis plugin folder and JAR file, restarted, placed the new JAR file.
Edit: For clarity, buttons/levers inside the Tardis have no effect. Commands like travel or comehere result in an Internal Processing Error.
@eccentricnz
I wonder if it could have some sort of interaction with Lockette... I will have to test. Thanks for checking. For clarity, should they be able to simply enter (with or without a stick?) when I am inside?
@DoctrSuSE
Can't seem to reproduce your companion problems here, if I do
/tardis add bromleymassive
, then bromleymassive can enter the TARDIS if I'm inside...Think I've fixed the 'ghost' TARDIS bug/exploit - give version 1.7.6 a whirl...
