OtherDrops
Make anything drop anything, anyhow!
Minecraft 1.7 features (click)!!
OtherDrops allows you to add anything from a simple "glass drops glass" or mob rewards, to a complex overhaul of your servers drops with drops differing depending on tools, biome, time, weather and much more, along with custom messages, actions and commands.
OtherDrops is lightweight* (it only acts on what you configure) and respects most protection plugins (eg. WorldGuard, Regios) settings. Many examples are included that you can enable and/or customize as you wish.

Help Wanted
Would you like to help improve OtherDrops? Here are some ways to get involved:
- Media/art: OtherDrops could really do with some tutorial and example videos.
- Testers: Testers who are able to go through the plugin and rigorously check that things (both existing and new features) work as they should. PM Zarius your Skype (or other IM) details if you're interested or jump on the IRC channel.
- Programming: any assistance is welcomed - see the todo list here for some ideas. Anyone with refactoring and/or automated testing experience that wants to assist would be great.
Thanks
Many thanks to these people who helped with OtherDrops:
- Cyklo: creator of the original OtherBlocks. OtherDrops is a continuation of Cyklo's original OtherBlocks (2011) plugin.
- Celtic Minstrel: many code commits and a major overhaul of the code moving into version 2.0. Moved on to create DropFactory.
- Rofang: major update of OtherDrops documentation.
- RugRats13: lots of testing and some documentation.
- Faldonboy & Steelsouls: currently maintaining and improving the documentation.
- CommodoreAlpha: community support on the comments/forum, assisting with documentation.
Many long nights are spent improving OtherDrops so if you like it please consider a donation to my coffee fund :)
- OtherDrops uses Metrics for anonymous usage stats (learn more).
Also whilst on the topic of money I thought I'd mention here that for normal money drops both MONEY@5 and MONEY/5 are the same but for MONEY-DROP@5/3 it will use the money drop plugin (if you have it) to drop 3 bundles of 5 gold.
@connito
Yeah I've considered this but haven't been able to think of an easy way to configure it, any ideas? Drop: MONEY@3-10! or something?
@ZariusT
Any chance we can have the option of zero decimal places? In iConomy, I only use whole currency 'Gold' without silver pieces
Thanks :-)
@Joymo
Very good point :) Will definitely look into this.
@Divis
Mainly just the jar - as you discovered it's worth updating the "include" files from time to time (changelog should mention if they have changed). Event's files might need updating sometimes too but the changelog should note that.
Note however that there is support for both CREATURE_MOBNAME (since this was the old format that was required) and just MOBNAME (new - this is easier to type :D).
@connito
Yeah, I know about the many decimal places and have an issue on my development tracker to make it support proper currency format (2 places).
got mine working a few minutes ago as well, took me awhile to figure out, it seems like the includes/.* files are outdated and needs a look at. (CREATURE_mobname vs MOBNAME for example)
I'am getting $4.23423477438 numbers aswell i just made it into a solid number instead for now
Finally got money drops working on creatures (it seems to be an included file was conflicting).
Another problem has arose, though, when I set a quantity for a money drop, and print it to chat log with "message:", it's appearing with a great amount of decimal places, for example:
returns something like:
You find 4.23423477438 gold
Is there a way to decrease it to 2 or even zero decimal places?
to upgrade we just replace the jar right? or do we need to update the rest aswell?
@ZariusT
Tested this now, replacementblock does not adhere to WG regions :/
I am referring to the wool-dye YAML included in OD btw, that one is beautiful, but not safe to use now, as people can color anyone's wool on protected properties.
@Joymo
Mostly :D Any block break action will check worldguard permissions before letting you break the block. Is there a WorldGuard setting that allows you to break blocks but not place them?
One problem is mobs - setting replacementblock on them will not currently honor worldguard settings.
Short question, does "replacementblock" adhere to WorldGuard regions, as in, does it check if player is allowed to even place and thus change blocks in that spot?
Ah right that explains a bit, thanks :) this plugin is genius tbh so simple, yet so powerful.
@Divis
The "-" divides individual drops. eg:
Note that the apple drop has no message, the egg does have a message (note also that the order doesn't matter, just that each section starts with a - character) and the diamond has two messages that get picked at random.
put it in my config and will try it out as soon as bukkit is happy again, right now she is leaking lots of tears with both PEX and iConomy so cant really test it atm :( (build #1169)
quick question what does the "-" do in the config? for example "- drop: MONEY@5" but no "-" at "message: ["You found $%q"]"
@Divis
Beta-5, Iconomy 6 - I tested this and it works:
@Celtic_Minstrel
Someone else mentioned Pigs (saddled or otherwise, I don't recall) were treated as vehicles. OtherDrops is allowing them to drop the saddle for me, as desired.
@CDHarris
By "other objects" don't you mean just boats? OtherDrops does treat paintings as vehicles as well, but Minecraft doesn't do that.
@Divis
Perhaps try MONEY/5? eg.
I'll have to test MONEY@5 later and see if it's broken.
@CDHarris
Thanks for that - will look into it.
I've created a ticket (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/otherdrops/tickets/6-storage_minecart-always-throws-severe-could/) for this - can you please add more information (complete error message) so that we can debug it? Thanks.
STORAGE_MINECART always throws "[SEVERE] Could not pass event VEHICLE_DESTROY to OtherDrops java.lang.NullPointerException" for me... but MINECART and POWERED_MINECART both work fine, along with other objects considered vehicles by Minecraft.
Cant get it to work with iConomy (v6.0.4b) i get no errors either so it seems a bit strange..
i get "[INFO] [OtherDrops:2.0-beta5] Payment method found (iConomy version: 6)" when booting up so its hooking in right.
using this settings:
any ide what can be wrong? kinda hard to tell i guess because i have no errors in console :S
