About MV2
Multiverse was created at the dawn of Bukkit multiworld support. It has since then grown into a complete world management solution including special treatment of your nether worlds with NetherPortals.
In the second delivery of Multiverse, we've broken it up into several smaller plugins that are each feature packed but *not bloated*! Multiverse provides the easiest to use world management solution for your Minecraft server, big or small, and with great addons like Portals and NetherPortals, what's not to love!
Multiverse is back! Is your server, a Multiverse?
Multiverse-NetherPortals Features
- Allow a nether per real world!
- Let nether portals built in a world go to a specific world
- Custom World Scaling when using NetherPortals! (All types of worlds, normal, skylands and nether supported! Even Custom generators!)
So long Awesome Builds
We use to have this notion of an "Awesome Build" or AB which was suppose to be thought of like Bukkit's Recommended Build system. Awesome Builds were ones that we put extra testing into and were meant to be very stable. Unfortunately there will be no more Awesome Builds. Our development team doesn't have the time to devote to the project that we use to. As such, we've moved to a new build system which you'll notice in the new version numbering. Our release builds here should be stable; Lots of people have had time to vet them for us while they were only development builds. While we don't have much time to work on the project, we do still take critical bugs very seriously and try to get them fixed as quickly as possible.
I like the concept of this plugin by seem to have one issue when i go through my portal in the world named (Survival) and it takes me to (Survival_Nether) it puts me in a wall with no new portal created on the opposite side. which would sufficate one of my players if they made a portal and went through.
For the people who got a problem with the nether portal spawning you realy high in the nether world. Use the dev build! Works fine for me.
is it possible to link end portals the same way as nether portals?
@DatDamnKidAgain
Thanks for this, but the inventory loss can be avoided, scroll past ~~ for complete fix:

I was having this issue and somehow i fixed it, here is what i did:[BY DOING THIS ALL PLAYERS ENDER CHEST AND INVENTORY ITEMS WAS ERASED BUT CHANGING THE WORLD IN THE FILE [SERVER.PROPERTIES] TO THE ONE YOU HAD BEFORE, RESTORES THE INVENTORY, BUT NOT THE ENDER CHEST ITEMS] I was lucky my server its brand new!!
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, IM JUST TRYING TO HELP, CAUSE I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS NETHER PORTALS FOR PLAYERS!
I noticed that this wasn't happening in my default world (you know the one that you put in server.properties file in level-name=worldname) so first go HERE and scroll down to the last post and download the file there, its a fix to that same issue but its only working fine for CB 1.6.4 (somehow it works on latest craftbukkit 1.7.2 with this i did) then stop the server, changed the world in server.properties file to the world you created with MV, add new MVNP jar file and restart the server, by doing this it created a nether and end world automatically for the world name on server startup and this fixed my issue with both worlds. remember to link worlds with /mvnp link command
hope it works for you guys! <</quote>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ before doing, backup. especially /worlds/players/* because thats where the player data is
Inventory is based on player.dat files of the MAIN world in server.properties. So all you have to do to restore your inventories (and present location) from before the fix is copy all player.dat files files from the pre-fix main world (presumably your new world) to the folder of the world you had to set (revert) as the main world.
Here's an example. I had a world called OldWorld. We played a long time and with 1.7.4 we made NewWorld, and wanted it to have its own world. We got Multiverse-NetherPortals and changed the Main world in server.properties to NewWorld. This broke our OldWorld portals in that we'd teleport *near them* which usually is very very bad.
To fix this, we downloaded the fix (replacement mod) here: https://github.com/Multiverse/Multiverse-NetherPortals/issues/68 Reverted the main world in server.properties to OldWorld To restore our current (new) inventories, we copied /NewWorld/players/*.dat to /OldWorld/players/*.dat
I hope this helps!
True. Same problemas :(
Yea, I have a problem with people going to the nether, Once they go through their portal in the overworld they spawn high up in the nether (Nearly falling to their deaths) and the portal that should be there to take them back is gone :/ I assume its a multiverse glitch? It also works the other way round, If you make a portal in the nether to take you back it spawns you high up somewhere random in the world and there is still no return portal!
Anyway to fix this??
@AsaAyers
I used the version "Multiverse-NetherPortals-2.5_issue68" version, and it worked with creating a single portal, but it won't make a new one for every new portal made in the normal world.
@falkentires55
How did you get that to work? With my first world I didn't need this plugin, but when I added a 2nd world with MultiVerse it doesn't create a portal in the Nether. It just drops you somewhere, usually directly into Lava, or you die from fall damage. If you're really lucky you survive the trip with no way back.
I have it working with portals after linking the worlds, however, it only creates one portal in the nether. If you create multiple portals in the normal world, it makes one in the nether and will take you to that single portal no matter which portal you go through in the normal world.
My server will be a Towny/PvP/Quest server so this poses a massive problem to the game play of the server. Does anybody know how this can be fixed?
2014-01-14 22:00:27 [SEVERE] [MultiVerse-NetherPortals] Could not load config.yml
@DailyCakeSlice Does anyone have a solution, is there an alternative?
Plugin works great.
But one important Request:
Please add permissions for "error"-messages.
This Plugin with the Stargate Plugin (From Drakia) is sending some
Errormessages with Portalblock-Portals.
This is confusing my members, would be great to deactivate the messages or to have
a mod-permission, so only users with perms will get the messages.
Look at:
https://github.com/Multiverse/Multiverse-NetherPortals/issues/50
"No specific nether world has been linked to this world and 'nether_nether' is not a world"
This problem is over 1 year old and had no fix yet
EDIT:
Found a simple solution:
/mvnp link nether worldname worldname
is disabling the portals in the world and no message will be shown ;)
@dazeysan try:
/mv create WorldB_nether nether
/mv np link nether WorldB WorldB_nether
Do we need to use MVNP to get basic WorldA to WorldA_nether and WorldB to WorldB_nether functionality?
I have 2 worlds, the first one is the one listed in the server.properties file and the nether portals there work just fine. In the second world I can create nether portals the normal way (obsidian and flint/steel), but when you enter them they never teleport you, they just wave and make sounds.
I am using Dev versions of both Core and Multiverse-Portals. Have tried changing the defaultportalserach and portalsdefaulttonether values to "true" but that hasn't helped.
The last time I installed MVNP it really screwed up my existing Nether portals, insisting on making new ones every time someone went through so I am hesitant to use it again. I am not trying to use weird names or anything, I just want what I expect the default behavior to be: WorldA links to WorldA_nether WorldB links to WorldB_nether
It's really unfortunate that the portal on the other side won't be created. I'll try some other plugins that aren't "a complete world management solution" in the hopes that they don't remove vital gameplay expectations.
@DatDamnKidAgain Thanks, I'll give that a go as well.
Another problem I'm having is the End is not working. It teleports players to the void, far from the end island.
EDIT: Is this plugin even still being updated? I've used Multiverse for years but if it's not then someone please post an alternative. Thanks.
This plugin doesn't seem to do anything...
@DatDamnKidAgain
Awesome! Worked like a charm! Thank you!

@DailyCakeSlice
I have the same problem as DailyCakeSlice. Running on 1.7.2 dev builds though.
Ok, this is good... but here's the thing...
Without the plugin (with MV-Core and nether enabled):
With the plugin:
Please, fix the plugin! It is extremely useful! I have a couple of survival worlds on my server and no one can get to the nether without this plugin, and this is broken/not made right.
Multiverse is a great and amazing plugin, so I would hate to see it go to waste. Please fix this!
