Gringotts
Gringotts: Item based currency.
Gringotts is an item-based economy (currency) plugin for the Bukkit Minecraft server platform. Unlike earlier economy plugins, all currency value and money transactions are based on actual items in Minecraft, per default emeralds. The goals are to add a greater level of immersion, a generally more Minecraft-like feeling, and in the case of a PvP environment, making the currency itself vulnerable to raiding.
Gringotts was originally created for the Minecraft Wars PvP/survival server.
Features
- Item-backed economy (configurable, default emeralds)
- multiple denominations with automatic conversion (for example, use emeralds and emerald blocks)
- Storage of currency in chests and other containers, player inventory and ender chests (configurable)
- direct account-to-account transfers commands
- optional transaction taxes
- fractional currency values (fixed decimal digits)
- Account support for Factions, Towny and WorldGuard
- Vault integration

v2.9
- DEPENDS ON JAVA 8. If your server is not on Java 8 yet, you should upgrade, or ask your service provider to upgrade. Java 7 isn't supported anymore by Oracle.
- Should now work both in regular as well as async context. This means there should be no more "Asynchronous entity world add" errors anymore, and Gringotts is now compatible with Towny in async mode, as well as other plugins that call economy methods asynchronously.
- The maximum virtual money allowed for an account is now equal to the lowest denomination, instead of the highest. I changed this because that behavior was causing lots of confusion.
- fixed other minor bugs
v2.8
- built for Minecraft 1.9 and Factions 2.8. May not be compatible with older Factions versions!
- unsupported versions of Factions should be handled more gracefully now.
- updated to current version of Metrics-Lite. Fixes annoying error messages.
v2.7
- Named denominations: Each denomination can now have its own name, which will be shown in /balance messages and the like. To activate this feature, use the
named-denominations
config setting. By default this will use the denomination's displayname or regular item name, but you can define a custom name as well. See configuration instructions for details. - Balance messages can now be configured to show only regular balance or also vault/inventory balances.
- Now also supports
&
prefix to color codes in messages and item displayname/lore in addition to the defaultยง
prefix. - can now also used Vault-supported item names in denomination config, not only regular Bukkit names. This can make the config a bit more intuitive. (requires Vault)
- lore config for denomination items now also allows a simple string instead of a string list.
- configuration should now always be loaded as UTF8.
- fixed an issue with
/money
commands failing on some servers.
v2.6
- adds display name and lore support for currency items. See configuration instructions on how to configure this. Note you will need a third-party plugin to rename items not created by Gringotts. Thanks to dj5566 for contributing this feature!
startingbalance
config option works again

Installation and Configuration
Download Gringotts and place it in your craftbukkit/plugins folder.
Please see the Configuration and Permissions document on how to configure Gringotts.
Usage
For full information on configuration and usage in Gringotts v2.x, please see the configuration page and the usage page respectively.
Storing money in an account requires a Gringotts vault. A vault consists of a container, which can be either chest, dispenser or furnace, and a sign above declaring it as a vault. A player or faction may claim any number of vaults. Vaults are not protected from access through other players. If you would like them to be, you may use additional plugins such as LWC or WorldGuard.
Player vaults
Place a sign above a container block, with [vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your name on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
Faction vaults
Place a sign above a container block, with [faction vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your faction's tag on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
Towny vaults
- To make a vault for your town: place a sign above a container block, with
[town vault]
written on the first line. - To make a vault for your nation: place a sign above a container block, with
[nation vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your town's or nation's tag on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
User commands
/money
Display your account's current balance.
/money pay <amount> <player>
Pay an amount to a player. The transaction will only succeed if your account has at least the given amount plus any taxes that apply, and the receiving account has enough capacity for the amount.
/money withdraw <amount>
/money deposit <amount>
Withdraw an amount from vault storage into inventory, or deposit from inventory to a vault.
Admin commands
/moneyadmin b <account>
Get the balance of a player's account.
/moneyadmin add <amount> <account>
Add an amount of money to a player's account.
/moneyadmin rm <amount>
Remove an amount of money from a player's account.
/gringotts reload
Reload Gringotts config.yml and apply any changed settings.

@LordPsycho202
The Java version should have nothing to do with it, Gringotts is compiled against 1.7
From the stacktrace, it looks like Vault is using the old (Gringotts 1.x) API, instead of the current one, which is provided by Gringotts directly. This *shouldn't* happen. Do you get any errors with other commands besides convert?
@ebenwert
I am facing a problem with Essentials Economy and Gringotts too.
As to Why I would want to run both....well....actually I don't. HOWEVER: I do want the warping, teleporting, and other things essentials provides, and they have no way to disable just the economy. So if I want those other things, and I want Gringotts, the two have to work together.
Back to my issue:
When I am on my production server, I cannot get essentials to see Gringott's balance. Get not errors, nothing. I can see Gringotts balance just fine, but Essentials cannot and just assumes it is zero. If I add any balance via admin command, it passes through to Gringotts just fine, but still reports 0 balance.
Now the freaky part: I can get it to work beautifully (save the "lag notice") on a linux VM I set up for testing. If I delete my entire plugins folder from production, and copy of the folder from my testing VM, it doesn't work, IN SPITE OF THE FACT IT WORKED on the VM!
The only thing I can think is *maybe* Java version. I used Oracles JRE 1.8x64 on my VM, but I suspect my hosting company is using Java 1.7. Not even sure if that makes a difference, but I have yet to find anyplace where the required JAVA version is documented (because, you know, I didn't think it even mattered).
Other than "Why are you running both?" - any help?
Versions:
PS: Digging into this more, and when I issue the command "/vault-convert Gringotts EssentialsEconomy" - I get the following stack trace:
@MCTylerPVP
I'm not sure why you would use both Gringotts and Essentials economy. Vault will only support one of them at a time.
@ebenwert
I don't use the bukkit bridge BungeeTabList, Never did seem to work right.
I keep getting a essentials economy lag notice. Is there any way to keep essentials and use this as well? (EssentialsX, BTW)
There is a huge but, not sure if this causes it but....
Wherever the Vault chest is placed, the chunk might corrupt. There have been 3 cases in our server, where a player has made Vault chest and suddenly after a restart all the items in it's chunk chests are gone and itemframes on the wall have duplicated many times.
Here is the error, I already reported this one to BungeeTabListPlus: http://puu.sh/k1OhO/cd7ff17523.txt
I'm not sure which plugin causes this.
@RustyDagger
Yeah, it does make sense to have some vault location feature. I'll get around to it eventually : P
You can use tools such as SquirrelSQL to peek into the db (and yes, it might be a bit of a hassle to get it setup right). You don't need to stop the server to download a copy of the file.
@ebenwert
How would I open the .DB and as its on a remote server I have to stop it to download the DB file any way. Yea its all seeming far too complex and too much of a hassle as is.
I have some not so bright players that cant locate their own Vault. but we know they have one because the money goes there lol... Iv tried searching up their chest and sign placements with logblock but its just too many entry's 260+
Sigh sometimes you just cant help them lol.... i just giggle,
@NightHavoc
As stated in the config instructions, using a changed "displayname" requires items to have exactly that displayname to be counted as currency. If you want all drops to be renamed, you need a separate plugin for that.
@RustyDagger
Currently only by looking into the db. Perhaps I'll add a command for that ...
is there any way I can locate a players [vault] Because im still suffering from this Unloaded chunk issue I cant check their money unless i can find their vault. short of just rtp around and trying the command...
Is this plugin still active or no? I have a problem.. When you drop/pick up the items set in config, it doesn't update the balance or allow it to be used as money in chestshop shops.. It only registers as currency when given using the /eco commands. Is this intended? If so, could it be optional to make all items of a type currency no matter condition?
The config is literally untouched except for naming 1st denomination "diamond" and 2nd value set to "emerald." I don't think it'd be necessary to post my config and I receive no errors in console upon failure to register set item as money.
Thanks in advance :)
Edit: Using Spigot Build 1.8.8 R.1/Latest Vault stable build.
@Aecnoril
Does it work with your name instead of UUID?
@Aecnoril
Though I can add money to other people's accounts, and transactions seem to work
For some reason I get [17:44:16 INFO]: Could not add 5 Goldnugget to account <My UUID>
When I try to add money with /moneyadmin add 5 Aecnoril
No errors or anything :(
ebenwert, forgive me for my English, I am Brazilian. I want to know if you have to prevent that the money is moved from enderchest to the player's inventory when a transaction occurs.
@OficialSaciDePatinete
I'm not sure what you're asking. Is this a request or a bug report? Gringotts perfers to put money into a player's inventory first, including leftover money from a transaction, so that the player sees the money directly. But they can use any money in any cault for transactions.
ebenwert, Ok. But anyway, when the player draws something and do not have money in inventory, only has money in a enderchest, money is removed from the chest of the player and the rest of the money goes to the player's inventory. It is to prevent this from happening? Causing the player can only buy something if you have the cash on hand? Like, when the player performs the command / money, the amount of money contained in the vault, which is the enderchest, would still be shown, but the player could only buy things with the money you have on hand, or the remaining coins vault not return to the player's inventory.
@OficialSaciDePatinete
Sorry, I don't have much .. interest in that particular feature. It could be added by third-party plugins though.
Hi Ebenwert, you plugin is very cool! But please add interest options.
@ebenwert
Odd because i did not knowingly change it to a simple string.
Works like a charm, No issues as yet.I even converted the lore back to a list.
