Gringotts
Gringotts: Item based currency.
Gringotts is an item-based economy (currency) plugin for the Bukkit Minecraft server platform. Unlike earlier economy plugins, all currency value and money transactions are based on actual items in Minecraft, per default emeralds. The goals are to add a greater level of immersion, a generally more Minecraft-like feeling, and in the case of a PvP environment, making the currency itself vulnerable to raiding.
Gringotts was originally created for the Minecraft Wars PvP/survival server.
Features
- Item-backed economy (configurable, default emeralds)
- multiple denominations with automatic conversion (for example, use emeralds and emerald blocks)
- Storage of currency in chests and other containers, player inventory and ender chests (configurable)
- direct account-to-account transfers commands
- optional transaction taxes
- fractional currency values (fixed decimal digits)
- Account support for Factions, Towny and WorldGuard
- Vault integration

v2.9
- DEPENDS ON JAVA 8. If your server is not on Java 8 yet, you should upgrade, or ask your service provider to upgrade. Java 7 isn't supported anymore by Oracle.
- Should now work both in regular as well as async context. This means there should be no more "Asynchronous entity world add" errors anymore, and Gringotts is now compatible with Towny in async mode, as well as other plugins that call economy methods asynchronously.
- The maximum virtual money allowed for an account is now equal to the lowest denomination, instead of the highest. I changed this because that behavior was causing lots of confusion.
- fixed other minor bugs
v2.8
- built for Minecraft 1.9 and Factions 2.8. May not be compatible with older Factions versions!
- unsupported versions of Factions should be handled more gracefully now.
- updated to current version of Metrics-Lite. Fixes annoying error messages.
v2.7
- Named denominations: Each denomination can now have its own name, which will be shown in /balance messages and the like. To activate this feature, use the
named-denominations
config setting. By default this will use the denomination's displayname or regular item name, but you can define a custom name as well. See configuration instructions for details. - Balance messages can now be configured to show only regular balance or also vault/inventory balances.
- Now also supports
&
prefix to color codes in messages and item displayname/lore in addition to the default§
prefix. - can now also used Vault-supported item names in denomination config, not only regular Bukkit names. This can make the config a bit more intuitive. (requires Vault)
- lore config for denomination items now also allows a simple string instead of a string list.
- configuration should now always be loaded as UTF8.
- fixed an issue with
/money
commands failing on some servers.
v2.6
- adds display name and lore support for currency items. See configuration instructions on how to configure this. Note you will need a third-party plugin to rename items not created by Gringotts. Thanks to dj5566 for contributing this feature!
startingbalance
config option works again

Installation and Configuration
Download Gringotts and place it in your craftbukkit/plugins folder.
Please see the Configuration and Permissions document on how to configure Gringotts.
Usage
For full information on configuration and usage in Gringotts v2.x, please see the configuration page and the usage page respectively.
Storing money in an account requires a Gringotts vault. A vault consists of a container, which can be either chest, dispenser or furnace, and a sign above declaring it as a vault. A player or faction may claim any number of vaults. Vaults are not protected from access through other players. If you would like them to be, you may use additional plugins such as LWC or WorldGuard.
Player vaults
Place a sign above a container block, with [vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your name on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
Faction vaults
Place a sign above a container block, with [faction vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your faction's tag on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
Towny vaults
- To make a vault for your town: place a sign above a container block, with
[town vault]
written on the first line. - To make a vault for your nation: place a sign above a container block, with
[nation vault]
written on the first line. If it was created correctly, the sign will display your town's or nation's tag on the third line and you will receive a message that the vault has been created.
User commands
/money
Display your account's current balance.
/money pay <amount> <player>
Pay an amount to a player. The transaction will only succeed if your account has at least the given amount plus any taxes that apply, and the receiving account has enough capacity for the amount.
/money withdraw <amount>
/money deposit <amount>
Withdraw an amount from vault storage into inventory, or deposit from inventory to a vault.
Admin commands
/moneyadmin b <account>
Get the balance of a player's account.
/moneyadmin add <amount> <account>
Add an amount of money to a player's account.
/moneyadmin rm <amount>
Remove an amount of money from a player's account.
/gringotts reload
Reload Gringotts config.yml and apply any changed settings.

@RustyDagger What do you mean by change color?
I'll have to look into the unloaded-chunk issue...
@ebenwert
I tried that It does not Work fully it leaves that stupid symbol every time you change Colour. and before you say it again YES the file is saved in UTF-8
Also players can not withdraw money from their vault if the chunk the vault is in is Unloaded. But other plugins can put money into the vault while its unloaded so you buy something and your change gets put in the vault. then you cant spend it because its unloaded.....
@RustyDagger
You need to sue the § symbol
Any way to color the Name and Lore we set? Iv tried using the $ thing the & and the escape code. none of them work.
@Zaphinine
Use the codes you would use in the server MOTD the one in server.properties. Or save the file as Md-5 or something odd cant remember what the dev said but basically use the java escape codes. Works for me.
@Dev.
Any way you can support http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/stackableitems/
I am using Music disks as My money items. The issue I am having is that gringotts puts one item in each slot rather than letting stakabletimes stack the items.
Also Can we maybe get some Optimize command for the money in the players inventory by this I mean the player has 3x 100 2x50 and 1x 5 adding upto 405 but the plugin failed to merge the 2x 50 into 1x 100 and failed to save an inventory space now weather you can make it do this on the fly or just add a command to compress Im not sure but Players value their inventory space, I have 12 denominations granted they are not likely to often have more than 4 or 5 in their inventory at one time but it does make me worry that they may NEVER get some of the higher values if the plugin does not merge lots of small values into one larger value.
Getting spammed with "Lag Notice - Slow Economy Response - Request took over #ms!" after installing this on Spigot 1.8.8. Any ideas?
Also, when money is withdrawn from an Enderchest during a purchase, all of the money in the enderchest is placed into the player's inventory.
Lastly, it seems my players often have to manually place their money in their vaults before they can use the deposit command.
@Zaphinine
Also color codes in the messages.ymal don't work properly for some reason. They will color the text but will also leave a weird symbol.
I am using § color codes.
Is there a way to make a server-wide vault that has an inventory specific to each player? I'd like to use something like the Global Banks plugin but I'm not sure if Gringotts will compatible (probably isn't). I can't test how well it would work right now either.
Any way this can be implemented into the plugin?
GlobalBanks: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/globalbank/
@nakkettaja
Hard to interpret... are you using something other than the builtin SQLite database?
http://pastebin.com/9fjuKdFv
There it is, there is no typical "15 lines of error" but... it won't just launch the server
@nakkettaja
I'm afraid I can't diagnose the error from those lines, there's no obvious error. Could you paste the complete log into a pastebin or so?
Gringotts in version 2.5 blocks the start of server. (Really often, not always)
Console:
If I delete the Gringotts from plugins folder or disable it, server starts immediately. Any solutions?
I'm not sure is it Gringotts which causes a butt ton of lag to my server but... If it blocks the server's start, it might broke the uptime aswell.
@dragonfire967
If the association between town and your vaults somehow got broken, you'll probably have to recreate the vaults, yes. I can't diagnose the problem any better :)
Hey, I had to upload a backup of my towny data back to my server due to a crash (hosting company's fault), and had to reclaim my town (recreate the town, and claim plots). The vaults I had made for the town still exist, with the same town name on the vaults, and money in them, but the money isn't showing up when I do /t to check my town's money. Is there a way to resync my vaults with my town, without having to recreate all the vaults (destroy and replace signs), or am I pretty much forced to do that.
@ebenwert "You can use a third party plugin to rename items. There is an update in the pipeline to allow using renamed items to be used as currency."
Link pls
@Woutertubie
Sorry, this is not possible.
Create plugin! thanks, Using it on my server. However I have one question:
Is it possible to tax only some players instead of all? I have made a bank so players can keep there vaults save, and I want to tax only players who choose to do this.
@Gnusterftw
You could use crackshot to rename all of one item to a title and lore. Just delete everything uneeded in the yml lol
@ebenwert
I'm looking for a way to rename the items and also add custom lore to the currency, but i cant seem to find a way to that :( I would really appreciate if you guys could add that feature :) An ideal version of what i'm talking about would be something like this:
@DecisiveDolphin
Lost my macBook, might be a while :P
