EchoPet
Important information on this project in light of recent events.
Quote from DSH105:The forums have now been enabled and can be accessed via the navigation bar. More importantly, I'm interested in your input towards the new pet attacking AI to be implemented in EchoPet v3.
If EchoPet is not loading on your Spigot 1.8 build and your server is outputting "Skipping loading of EchoPet as it does not work with Spigot 1.8 builds!", please try running a later Spigot patch. I can't do anything about older Spigot releases blacklisting the plugin (preventing it from loading).
The future of this plugin is still being determined.
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk.
EchoPet is a simple Donator Perk plugin designed to add Pets that follow players around on their adventures throughout Minecraft. All Pets are custom entities spawned and controlled by the plugin.
Great for donator perks!
Pets are greatly customisable, through the extensive Command Base and PetMenu
A Custom AI makes all Pets focused on specific goals, handled closely by the core of the Plugin
All mobs can be Pets, even human entities
All events fired by the plugin are accessible through the EchoPet Developer API
The API also makes it possible to add many new and interesting features to the limit of creativity
Support for MySQL databases |
Note: The Developer API is only available in v2.0.6 and after

EchoPet comes with an auto-updater to save you, as a server owner, from continually checking this page for new files. It simply connects to dev.bukkit.org and compares the versions of available files. If you do not wish for EchoPet to perform this check, navigate to the Configuration File (config.yml) in the EchoPet directory of your plugins folder and change "checkForUpdates" and "autoUpdate" to "false". The first value disables the version comparison altogether and the second updates the plugin automatically if new files are detected.
Metrics is used to collect plugin statistics. Only data such as plugin version and players online is collected. If you do not wish for this data to be collected, disable it in the 'Plugin Metrics' folder of your 'plugins' directory.
Would it be possible to disable the Pet Selector in certained regions using Worldguard or any other plugin? I find people cheating in PvP with flying pets all the time.
@otterun
from how you did the perms it looks correct as for echopet.pet.type.sheep.(white) echopet.pet.default.set.type.slime.(small) echopet.pet.type.(baby)
they are wrong i think. I don't think its possible to put ( ) in a permission. its just doing that to let you know you can put a different type there. as for echopet.pet.type.sheep.white. I am assuming it can be changed with echopet.pet.type.sheep.blue. same with the slime you can change small to maybe large or huge or what ever the permission is to get a bigger slime. then as of the the last one that will probably allow you to have a baby of the mobs you permission for. I have not messed with this plugin yet I plan on it tho. :P
Sorry, I have another question. So I want to set up ranks for which pets people can have. So rank 1 would just have farm animals, rank 2 would have farm animals, friendly mobs + the ability to make pets baby, rank 3 would have the ability to wear mobs as hats, etc.
Can you peek at this and tell me if I'm setting up my permissions correctly? (I know how to do the spacing and have working PermissionsEX set up, I just need to know if I'm applying EchoPet Perms correctly.)
Rank one gets farm animals and only white sheep:
Rank 2 gets more pets, small slimes, any color sheep, plus the option to make pets baby:
And it would go on like this with each rank getting more options. Is this how to set it up?
@DSH105
That's really helpful; thank you! And thank you for all of your hard work on this plugin. :)
Is it possible to make the ender dragon behave normally again rather then sticking 5 feet around its owner, it used to just fly normally like a real dragon.
@DSH105
xD Yeah I was like wth why won't they work in 1.8? Just post in here when you have a fix on the continuous integration server and I'll come scoop it up :)
@DrkMatr1984 They do if you use v2.7.0, which still even supports MC1.6.4.
EDIT: oops, maybe I forgot to allow them for 1.8 :/.
@DSH105
Why don't the rabbit, endermite, or guardian pets work in 1.8? Can you do a backport or make them work in 1.8 pls? <3 I'm loath to update to 1.8.3 because some of my other plugins have not updated yet.
Thankyou so much for the work you guys do on this plugin :)
@Duffa13 Human pets are deprecated and no longer supported.
@Dyenx999
I have the same thing
Hello I am using EchoPet version 2.7.0-b41 with my Spigot 1.8.3 server and when I try and do a human pet it says "Human pet type is not compatible with this server version"???
Updated echopets to 1.8.3 spigot support earlier today got my ender dragon back :D however there is a slight difference to the way it used to work compared to now...before the update the dragon would fly high up and only every 30 secs or so fly into your screen, now its constantly flying through making very short circles almost literally meaning its less natural looking is it possible to make it move the way it used to again?
PS: Glad its back working though :D
@DSH105
Why does it say my server is incompatible with the 1.8 pets im using spigot 1.8.1 ?
@otterun see `/petadmin help` - it's similar to the `/pet` command but is for manipulating the pets of other players.
Is there a way to assign pets to players rather than give them the command to make their own?
I'm using the new 1.8.3 version and all seem ok with the exception of a couple of things, pet rabbits just slide along the floor instead of hopping, and I'm loosing colour formatting to pet names when logging back into the server.
Would it be possible to have a look at these issues for us please.
kind Regards EllisWIn
@LordKainzo There's nothing in-built for that, unfortunately (nor have I seen it in other plugins), but a shell script would probably do the job.
