Animals Drop Meat
Animals are made of meat - so they should drop meat!
I always considered it immersion breaking that some animals, for instance sheep, doesn't drop any meat, and being reminded of this every time you kill one of the "non-meat" animals can quickly become quite annoying. After all they are not exactly rare...
For this reason I created this basic plugin for myself - and decided to share it.
What it does
It makes Minecrafts "meat-less" animals like horse, sheep, squid etc... drop meat! *
*Depending on what version you choose to download drop-rates, meat names and meat types can be configured!

Animals Drop Meat is very focused and easy to use - no unnecessary extras added - only 100% meat!
Its high configurability is implemented as simple as possible to guarantee zero hassle, zero compatibility issues and perfect performance.
Q: Why doesn't the dropped meats have different icons/textures from the vanilla meats?
A: Adding new materials is unfortunately not possible with (current) vanilla clients.
Q: Will AnimalsDropMeat work with version X of minecraft?
A: All versions of Animals Drop Meat work with almost any version of Minecraft! :)
... Official support is for 1.6.4 - 1.7.9 but it should work on older/newer versions too!
Q: How do I configure the drop-rates in the config?
A: The chance for a specific Qty (quantity) to drop is its Rate / Sum of all Rates.

What version to choose?
All versions are safe to use - It's simply a choice of how many features you want!
(If you don't want the auto-update or any customization options you can safely stay on v1.0!)

I recommend skimming through the versions page at least once since it provides basic explanations for all important features and config settings !!
Note: This plugin uses Hidendras MCStats Metrics Lite, see link below to view the stats.
It also uses PluginUpdater to check for updates on the bukkit servers ("CheckForUpdates: true/false").

Yeah, probably a client vs bukkit bug.
I haven't had that exact bug myself, but a similar one, namely that you can't eat more than 1 item (that has ConsumptionSubstitution on it) continuously. You can eat one, but if you keep holding down the button, the animation and sound continues but you don't actually eat any more. Have to release the button and then press it again to consume an additional item.
Basically some weird things like this can happen because the vanilla client doesn't really support changing the effects of consumption.
Basically this happens:
The client consumes an item and notifies the server,
The server says "no, thats not what you ate! you ate this!",
The client assumes it was lag and 'corrects' itself. (but this isn't perfect.)
Hello there, awesome plugin btw! I just have one bug that keeps happening on my server not sure if it's player lag or what but when someone eats one of the food items you can still hear the sound constantly even after they've eaten it, but then it goes away if they swap to a different item in their hand. It's really strange.
I lost my motivation there for a while... my motivation is back now, but I'm really, really busy with work right now!
Expect some progress to be made after new year (that's when my current contract ends).

ADM v1.9 is progressing nicely!
It will finally contain the long due configurable Consumption Substitution! Thus animals will have two new settings:
ConsumeRaw
andConsumeCooked
. Once v1.9 is completed I will proceed to update the Meats-page with the 20 possible values these variables can have.I will also be adding another new config value to each animal:
MeatMode
. This will basically decide how ADM handles that animal. The possible values will beadd

,replace
anddisabled

Hmm...
(I'm always trying to keep my plugin as focused ("on topic") as possible so I'm careful when it comes to adding features - but my initial gut feeling says it's a little off center but might be close enough to fit in - and it wouldn't require any exotic code that could decrease compatibility.)
I would have to add it to all animals that drop meat in vanilla otherwise it would feel odd if it was just cows - and it would need to be configurable the same way other animals are (name+type+drop-rates) to keep the config simple and consistent.
This would also re-enforce the need for a simple way to toggle an animal on/off in the config, since a lot of people might not desire changing the vanilla drops (only want the new drops added by ADM) - but that might be a good thing, because the way you currently toggle animals on/off in the config is by giving them a drop-rate of zero, which isn't instantly obvious, so I'll probably improve the config by adding "Enabled: true/false" or something similar to each animal.
But yeah, I think I'll do it.
Expect it in a future version of ADM. :)

Well if they are burning when they die they drop cooked meat.*
There is currently no option to always make them drop cooked meat.
I'm very curious, if I may ask, why do you need cooked drops?
*(behavior is same as vanilla: one-hitting with a fire weapon does not count as death by fire, they have to be on fire and then receive a killing blow - or die from the burn effect.)
