    Hi Everyone,

Today we launch our new store! This is the first in a series of releases that will revamp the whole of CurseForge and all the sites powered by it. Through this we'll be modernizing the layout and style of the sites as well as addressing the long standing concerns many of our authors have had.

It's important to know that many actions related to points need to be completed from within the new store. Purchasing points, viewing your totals and history, as well as transferring points to other users. Project reward splits are still configured on the current site.

Below you'll find a nice screenshot of the general layout of the new store. We already have a list of improvements for the next iteration. You have my word that they'll be here soon, but please give us your feedback as well. We'd love to know what you guys think.

The new store can be found at store.curseforge.com.

Earlier today, we migrated to a shiny new stack on shiny new servers. As part of this, we're also migrating the repository services, which will remain offline for a little while longer.

Not to worry, your repositories are safe and sound, we're just doing the repository server move out of band of the main migration.

I'll update this post once repository services are back online.

Update: Repo services have been restored.

  • CurseForge is now hosting Forge Mods!

    http://media-curse.cursecdn.com/attachments/91/640/minecraft-forums-logo-2.png
As many of you may or may not know, Curse has been hosting Bukkit mods exclusively through dev.bukkit.org and we thought that it was time to open up our development community further with regards to Minecraft mods. So for the last few weeks we have been moving our old Client Mods database out of the bukkit database and into it’s own at CurseForge.

What this means is that we now have a great place to host Forge Mods at CurseForge. It works identically to dev.bukkit.org, and the whole system was built by modders from the ground up.

In addition to Forge Mods, we have another primary category dedicated to other client mods, whether they need Modloader or just need to be combined with Minecraft.jar. Plus, if your mod is compatible with Forge and Modloader you can have it listed under both by just picking both categories.

This is also an opportunity for mod authors to join our Author Rewards Program; once your mod has been successfully approved you start to earn points as people download your mods that you can redeem for PayPal cash or Amazon gift cards! You can also earn free Curse Premium if you get enough downloads per month.

We think this is a great opportunity for client mod authors who make Forge mods and other mods to get their mods out to an even greater audience. Thanks for your consideration and we hope to see our Minecraft Mod database grow by leaps and bounds in the coming months.

To get started, head to this link and start filling out your project: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods/create-project/

    Important Notice for Authors

Please note that when you first get your project approved, it is still considered in the ‘Planning’ stage. You will need to go into ‘Project management’, then ‘Edit project’. Once there, you can scroll all the way down to the bottom and set the ‘Development stage’ to ‘Release’. This ensures your mod will syndicate to Curse.com. Also, if you are uploading multiple versions (i.e. 1.4.7, 1.5.1, etc.) make sure to upload them from oldest to newest. You always want the newest file uploaded last as that’s the file that will show up on Curseforge.

More info can be found at our CurseForge Knowledge base here: http://www.curseforge.com/wiki/knowledge-base/

A brand new feature is available for testing in the Test Client: Minecraft Snapshot management!
The Curse Client can help make Snapshot management a breeze -- Simply click "Get It" beside the Snapshot you'd like to test, and the Client will download that specific version to a separate folder from your release install, allowing for you to test without fear of save corruption! You can switch between any released snapshot at any time, and can additionally copy your Worlds over from your release version of Minecraft for even more specialized testing! In addition, the "My Textures" and "Get More Textures" tabs are available on this install, making texture pack testing a breeze. This beta version of the Snapshot feature can be tested on the test version of the Curse Client, which can be found here. Please note that once testing is done, it is advised to resume using the release version of the Client.

In addition to showing when a world was last backed up, the "More Info" tab will show you your health, level, and the number of items in your inventory, as well as give you the ability to share your world's seed with a simple click to copy option. • Subversion Rollbacks for a Subset of Repositories

    • By prencher
    • Nov 7, 2012
    • Category IconNews
    • 3

Due to some unforseen complications during a routine maintenance, we've had to temporarily disable access to subversion repositories in order to do rollbacks on a subset of repositories.

    Update 12:42am CST / 06:42 UTC:

All affected repositories have been restored to their latest backups from this sunday and access to repositories have been restored. Unfortunately, that is the most recent backup we have where we know the issue not to be present. All affected repositories have had their UUID changed, so you will have to do a fresh checkout. This was done to prevent any corruption of server side repositories, due to limitations in how svn handles revisions.

The easiest way to restore any commits made since sunday is take your old checkout, remove the .svn folder(s) and copy it on top of the fresh checkout, and then commit it.

We're very sorry about this situation, and are still investigating what went wrong during the maintenance to cause this.

    Hi guys,

About a month ago we upgraded to Subversion 1.7. On Monday, we will be doing rolling upgrades of all of our Subversion repositories to the latest on disk format. There will be no overall interruption of service, although specific repositories will be unavailable while they are being upgraded.

This will give access to the latest Subversion features for all repositories.

We will be starting this process at 15:00 UTC and expect it to take around 10 hours to upgrade all repositories.

Note: If you attempt to access your repository while it is being upgraded, it will fail.

  • No version for CraftBukkit 1.3.1-R1.0

Update: This issue is now resolved and we have now added a new "CB 1.3.1-R1.0" version to BukkitDev. Please proceed to use this instead, thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter!

Despite having promoted our first Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3.1, we are currently having technical difficulties adding a new corresponding CraftBukkit 1.3.1-R1.0 version to BukkitDev.

    Temporary Solution:

As a result, we ask that Plugin Developers please use the "1.3.1" version instead as a temporary solution until we are able to add a proper version.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and thank you for continuing to use Bukkit for developing your awesome plugins!

  • World of Tanks and The Secret World Now Fully Supported in the Client!

The Curse Client now has two brand new features -- The Secret World and World of Tanks are now supported, and they come with an easy to use packager for our authors!

We at Curse are always looking for ways to make modding games as simple as possible, and are always eager to support new games. Now, both World of Tanks and The Secret World give users the capability of one-click installations of mods, skins, and addons!

The Client will also manage backups and revisions of your old files to be safe to help ensure that your game will never need to be reinstalled.

In an effort to make placing these highly customizable mods into our Client, we've also created an in-Client packager to help our authors out! With either World of Tanks or The Secret World selected, click Tools -> Create a Package, and follow the given prompts. This wizard will walk you through making an appropriate, Client ready zip to be uploaded to CurseForge.

Thank you to all of our authors who assisted us in testing the Client, as your participation allowed us to release these brand new features quickly!

  • Minecraft Texture Packs Now Up for Testing in the Beta Curse Client!

    • By _ForgeUser655591
    • Jun 7, 2012
    • Category IconNews
    • 17

Curse has an exciting announcement to make -- Minecraft texture packs that do not require any sort of patching (such as MCPatcher) are now ready for testing in the test version of the Curse Client!  Please note that this is a beta version of our Client that is completely separate from our live, standard Client.

For users, this now means you can test easily installing Minecraft texture packs via one click installs, and no more shady or confusing links!  Any and all texture packs that have been uploaded to Bukkit that do not require patching will be automatically available for testing!  All one has to do to test out these awesome new features is download our test version of the Client!  The more testers we receive, the more bugs and issues we can iron out in the process, meaning a better experience in the end product.

Even better for texture pack makers, you can not only reach a wider audience, but you can now give your users a trusted link!  On top of that, any project that has over 1,000 downloads will net you free Curse Premium, which will give you an ad-free experience on all of our sites and much, much more on MinecraftForum.  Just remember that currently in order for your texture pack to be supported by the test Client, it must be a 16x pack that does not need a patcher, such as MCPatcher.

Uploading to Bukkit is easy!  If you require any assistance, you can refer to this handy tutorial on both how to package and upload your creations to Bukkit.  If you're interested in creating texture packs but don't know where to start, check out this rather all-inclusive FAQ!

Go grab our test Client now to check out how easy installing texture packs can be!  Any and all feedback and bugs should be reported to [email protected].

Please be advised that some rules do follow:

    • include PICTURES: You MUST include pictures of your texture pack or else it will be rejected. Multiple pictures are better.
    • be DETAILED: Include a feature list and a description of the texture pack
    • be COMPLETE: Not just a single sentence or two of description, make the description detailed and complete.
    • be ON-SITE: You cannot simply link to another site which is hosting your texture pack as a description, you must provide information directly on the BukkitDev page without using 3rd party sites. However, if you wish to link your users to other resources that supplement the adequate description you already have, you are free to do so.

Also remember that when uploading files, you must include a version number in the file's title, such as:

Examples of good texture pack submissions:
    http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/arrival-darkness-16x-12w23b-comp/
    http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/jolicraft/
    http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/rogues-textures-early-alpha/
    http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/ocd-texture-pack-1-2-5/

Please follow the above rules -- helping out the moderators means your files and projects get approved faster!

As many of you noticed, a couple of weeks ago we changed up the formatting on the site. This was done for security - A severe XSS vulnerability was found in our Markdown parser as well as a potential security issue in our Safe HTML parser, and we moved fast to disable them when it was discovered.

At the same time, we decided to go ahead and actually deprecate parsers that were considered deprecated internally for quite some time - Textile, Curse Wiki and Safe HTML.

In retrospect, this was shortsighted, and we should not have deprecated Safe HTML. Since we made the determination internally to deprecate it, it has seen a huge rise in popularity, primarily in the Bukkit Dev community, and we had not factored in this new usage. We moved fast on the security, and made a rash decision in the heat of the moment to deprecate it without re-evaluating usage. For that we apologize.

With that out of the way, I'm happy to announce that Safe HTML is back, and the same HTML subset is available if you use markdown.

The new and improved Safe HTML (and Markdown) supports the following tags:

a, abbr, b, big, blockquote, br, caption, code, dd,
    del, dl, dt, em, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, hr, i,
img, li, ol, p, pre, s, small, strike, strong, sub,
sup, table, tbody, td, tfoot, th, thead, tr, ul

    And attributes:

alt, colspan, href, rowspan, src, title

Note that both tags and attributes must be lowercase. Uppercase is no longer supported.

If you have any tags and attributes you'd like to see supported, let us know in the comments below, and we will consider adding them.

    Have a good weekend.

Curse is happy to announce that our complimentary author reward Premium program is once again properly giving free Premium!  With this change also comes a few new parameters.

As of today, if you are a contributor of any sort to a currently active project within an upper bounds of monthly popularity percentage, you will receive a free monthly subscription!  This service is now extended to all authors, as even more games are eligible!  Currently, all games supported on the various CurseForge sites are eligible, provided  you meet the requirements.  As such, the following sites are currently included:

    • CurseForge
    • WowAce
    • SkyrimForge
    • Sc2mapster
    • Bukkit Dev

If you believe you should be receiving your complimentary Premium but have yet to, please wait 24 hours to make sure that the email and complimentary subscription have had time to be granted.  Also please remember that you will need to log out and back in to both the Client and Curse.com to receive your benefits.  If after a 24 hour period you are not receiving your complimentary subscription, please either make a report or ticket on CurseForge, or leave a forum post.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the lack of Premium may have caused our authors!  Thank you for your patience!
