CurseForge is now hosting Forge Mods!

As many of you may or may not know, Curse has been hosting Bukkit mods exclusively through dev.bukkit.org and we thought that it was time to open up our development community further with regards to Minecraft mods. So for the last few weeks we have been moving our old Client Mods database out of the bukkit database and into it’s own at CurseForge.

What this means is that we now have a great place to host Forge Mods at CurseForge. It works identically to dev.bukkit.org, and the whole system was built by modders from the ground up.

In addition to Forge Mods, we have another primary category dedicated to other client mods, whether they need Modloader or just need to be combined with Minecraft.jar. Plus, if your mod is compatible with Forge and Modloader you can have it listed under both by just picking both categories.

This is also an opportunity for mod authors to join our Author Rewards Program; once your mod has been successfully approved you start to earn points as people download your mods that you can redeem for PayPal cash or Amazon gift cards! You can also earn free Curse Premium if you get enough downloads per month.

We think this is a great opportunity for client mod authors who make Forge mods and other mods to get their mods out to an even greater audience. Thanks for your consideration and we hope to see our Minecraft Mod database grow by leaps and bounds in the coming months.

Important Notice for Authors

Please note that when you first get your project approved, it is still considered in the ‘Planning’ stage. You will need to go into ‘Project management’, then ‘Edit project’. Once there, you can scroll all the way down to the bottom and set the ‘Development stage’ to ‘Release’. This ensures your mod will syndicate to Curse.com. Also, if you are uploading multiple versions (i.e. 1.4.7, 1.5.1, etc.) make sure to upload them from oldest to newest. You always want the newest file uploaded last as that’s the file that will show up on Curseforge.
