Summary
Shows great Bukkit desktop notifications! Also lets plugins show their own messages if they support it. If you want a plugin to show messages on the desktop, just ask the plugin developer to implement Notifications! ;)
What does it do
- Shows notifications on the desktop (screen)
- Built-in notifications for players joining/leaving (configurable!)
- Allows plugins to show their own messages with colors (configurable!)
- You can also configure some visual options for the notifications
- It works on MAC too! :D
Configuration
The configuration has help and is very self-explanatory.
API for plugin developers
Plugins that use Notifications (and that you should check out! :D)
- MoreProtect (definitely recommended automatic anti-grief!)
- GrandExchange (recommended trading/shop)
- Bukkitmanager
- Report player
- AuthMe
- SignShop
- ChestShop

Metrics
This plugin uses MCStats to collect information about plugin usage. Of course, this is strictly anonymous, and you can easily opt out via plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml. The NSA isn't watching your server ;) You can of course see for yourself what data is collected on the MCStats site, just the basic stuff: how many servers, how many players, which Bukkit version, etc.
please upgrade 1.13
I have my server installed on a linux box on the other side of the room. Will this still work on my windows desktop?
I used to use this when I first started running servers years ago and loved it. I'm wondering if the author (or anyone) has ever considered creating something like it for remote computers.. EG minecraft is installed on a box, maybe in your house, maybe hosted, doesn't matter, runs a plugin that waits for connection from a 'client'. A client machine (your daily rig, your office machine, whatever it may be that is NOT the same system as the minecraft server) runs a simple java app (so it's cross-platform friendly) which you configure to tell it what IP/port (or multiple servers even!!) and probably a configured user/pass for security and works the same as this plugin currently does. That would be sweet.
Hello! Love the plugin so far! Just a question, can you add a permission so ONLY the people with notifications.get or something get the notifications?
How is it possible for plugin to display desktop notifications? :O
I believe if coded right, a plugin should be able to do anything an ordinary JAR file can :D
Dude this comment is 1 year old, since then I learned java myself.
A lot can happen in one year, then again, so can nothing.
Update your plugin please
@TheModsKidServer
Yes please! and update to 1.8
know a eature you should add for people who are hosting servers, they shoudlenter their ip in the config on their computer and then the notifications appear on that pc
This is darn awesome for home-run servers, whether small or industrial sized. As a developer I may implement API for this in some of my plugins, especially if this becomes more widely used. Honestly, looking at this, I feel like more people should get it :)
Nice
Maybe it got open source some day? It'll be great to see how it works, really!
Hey, Im using this plugin. I am with HostHorde and have downloaded the plugin but when a player joins or leaves nothing happens? It is 1.8 BTW.
Does still work in 1.8? I don't get any notifications is there a client I need to install to use this?
CAn you make it so we can give our users an executable file which has a unique id and then we can send messages to these unique ids??? That would be awesome if you could manage that!
Is there a way this would work it you have a hosting company.
@sanegaming
would also like to see that!
@sanegaming
Ya same!
