Villages
PLEASE READ THIS
This video below sums up what's happening with Villages (and all my other plugins) and most likely a lot of other plugins, this is just my two cents and I would appreciate if you would watch this video.
What is it?
Similar to plugins like Towny, We wanted to create a simplified version, more of the, let the player decide, rather than letting the plugin or an administrator decide.
How it works
Basically, a player can pay money to create a village (if economy is used, or simply it's free) at the chunk they're standing on, and invite players. Players can only be invited to a single village, the residents can then deposit money into the village which the mayor can spend to expand the village.
Due to some recent Bukkit changes I have to point out that this plugin checks for updates using the Curse API, and you can disable this feature at any time if you wish, simply check under the configuration page for the update setting and how to disable it.
Future plans
So far the plugin is fairly basic, I wanted to put it on Bukkit, see how it goes and if you people like it, I'll add more stuff, you can comment what you'd like to see added below if you wish.
Some of the basic ideas I have now are:
- Regions, which may have one or more Villages in them
- Wars between Villages and/or regions

I also run my own Server, Belleza, an Economy Based Villages server that runs most of my plugins. We're quite fun to play on and I hope you check us out!
You can also check out my site, domsPlace, where I have code ideas, information about plugins, and info about me in general!

Thats why dev bukkit sucks :(
@suomenlippis
Yeah I know this error, and Updated the plugin but it'll take time for bukkit to approve the new JAR file.

I took a look but this makes no sense :-D
@alaskascooter
Seems that maybe the plugin isn't being loaded? I assume that you've followed a guide like this to install the plugin? all you need to do is drop the Villages.jar file into the plugins folder, then restart the server, if there's any errors the plugin will show the error on the console.
Hope this helps.
EDIT Found a problem with the plugin that was stopping it loading on most servers, updated the plugin, but have to wait for bukkit approval (usually a day or two)
@domin8trix25
Thanks
I put this in my plugins folder and started the server. It didn't generate a plugin folder, and the command /villageadmin is not available.
Looking in my logs, I don't see any entry for villages. No errors, or success. Am I missing something?
@alaskascooter
This just means that they can't be a resident in two villages, at the moment there's nothing stopping players living or even griefing another village, I'll be adding that to the next version.
@marinelancorpbob
Depends on what configuration you want, there's a config.yml file that gets generated on first run, you can then configure the plugin and just /villageadmin reload the plugin to make the changes take effect. Not a lot of options to configure yet, so it only takes about 5 minutes.
@suomenlippis
I'll look into a language files, although they'll more likely be in YML format so you'll have to translate them.
Will this plugin respect existing buildings in the area? or walkways?
When you say "Players can be invited to a single village" does that mean that they are unable to enter a village they have not been invited to? Or can we get a little more clarification on the purpose of inviting?
I'll play with this tonight, it looks very cool!
How long will this take to customize for your own server?
Awesome plugin! You could make option to add .lang translations. If you wan't I can translate this to Finnish.
@zizitt
I think an economy based bank would be better because it's not going to require as much tedious work, but yes this could be a nice alternative just maybe configurable to reduce the tedious work? Just my opinion, this plugin can go really far as long as the developer stay optimistic. This plugin may go far.
I see great potential in this plugin. Maybe add tiers to the plugin?
for example: town has x money and is on tier one -> Town has x2 money and is on tier 2 get neat stuff for players or town.
each tier could have customizable commands town members get.
Maybe tiers could material based? so so had to gather lets say 1k logs to upgrade to tier 2 and 1k logs and 1k stone for tier 3.
Each town would have a bank there any town member could deposit materials.
