MoreMobs has officially been succeed by Monster Apocalypse. Its a great plugin and is VERY worthy of taking over this plugin. MoreMobs Lite DOES work on Minecraft 1.0 but MoreMobs was never updated, you may continue to use this plugin if you wish but i strongly encourage you check out Monster Apocalypse We had a good run, thanks to everyone who had a part in it!

What Is it?
MoreMobs listens for mobs to spawn NATURALLY (not via spawner of command) and spawns more of that mob. I found this is actually pretty sweet and makes the sheep herds look a bit more realistic :) it also makes night fighting more fun! Any Sheep spawned by this plugin will be colored! The coloring is completely random! MoreMobs will make Giants spawn naturally! You can now TRULY make more mobs spawn and not just increase the amount already spawned. There is now an option to allow animals (Chickens, Cows, Wolves, and Pigs) to spawn in loaded chunks. See bellow for more details. NEW! Mob damage and Mob health are now configurable along with the ability to stop Skeletons and Zombies from burning in sunlight. See the config page.
Why Do I Want It?
Well it's fun and if you don't like fun...well your a boring person and you should probably go play some Minecraft. And it adds colored sheep! And you can get rid of those nasty-looking squids! And you can see naturally spawned Giants!

As of v1.4 there is now 1 command available:
/mmreload - Reloads the plugin
How Do I Install It?
Just dump it in your Plugins folder. After you have run it at least once a folder called MoreMobs will appear in your Plugins directory. Inside there is one file, config.yml, take a look at the config page.

Bugs We're Aware Of
- IT DON'T WORK ON 1.0!!!
No sound is played when your attacked if you set a custom damage valueFIXED! Except on instant kills...If you set a custom damage value armor is ignoredFIXED! It could use some testing but I think I fixed it...Mobs don't seem to spawn in already loaded chunksFIXED! I changed chunkPopulate to chunkLoad which seems to have fixed this but it needs some testing...Add cool-down timePROBABLY FIXED BUT UNTESTED! Because I'm no longer canceling the event this SHOULD be fixed but it needs testing...Giants are acting very weird and spawn like crazy even if disabled...POSSIBLY FIXED I'LL TEST IT WHEN I GET HOME!

hmmm i've never stopped to consider it. What I do know is that animal spawning depends on light-level so grass in caves cant spawn mobs unless it has sufficient lighting. I also imagine that there is set list that mobs can and cannot spawn on. That way they spawn on dirt and grass and sand but not glass and cactus etc. That would mean that there is probably nothing in the mc region files or the seed. I would guess a random number is probably generated and when the chunk is populated if that number equals 0 (or some number) a mob is spawned on the nearest legal block with the correct light-level. But the fact that when there is lag and you can see mobs in a chunk before the land generates suggests that maybe mobs are spawned before the terrain is created...idk. A little side note, my first "programming" experience was in scripting which evolved into PHP which turned into Java :)

Do you understand how the spawn on old landscape could be affected? Because i don't get it... by this logic, artificial farms (like grass underground or an animal farm in the sky) should also not spawn animals, because its not the "natural" landscape. Do you understand what i mean? Or are there any... like variables set in the old terrain (in the .mcr files maybe) which mess up the spawn, because the new world generator does something different? Or has it something to do with the seed/level.dat... i would like to find out. :)
Maybe i should get back into programming... i always liked it in the old days (school), and i also like bash scripting.

yeah I can add some configuration to sheep but 1.9 is going to be mostly bug fixes :) I'm using a chunkPopulate event, maybe if I change it to a chunkLoad things will get better :)
This is a good plugin I noticed that old chunks while sheep spawn the amount of spawns is low so I had to compensate by adding a large number so now when you find sheep you find 10-15 of them at once.
So I don't know if you can make more sheep spawn naturally over all.
Also is there a way to limit sheep to native and native amounts of colors only?

Also, a bug report. It seems the mob damage config ignores armor and cuts right through it for all mobs.
If you do plan on adding money gains to the plugin, could you add time of day and world multipliers? It's pretty important to my server's economy, and I'd much prefer to use one solution instead of having one plugin that can handle economy AND mobs do what's needed over a plugin that can do both, but another plugin that can do it as well, just in a different fashion.

I have minecraft 1.8 and after placing the .jar file in the plugins folder and starting\stoping the server i dont get any new folder created, i tried with both java 6 and 7, same results.. what's going on? :\

That's what we found out, too. But even before testing this Plugin. On land which was generated by the new generator, the mobs seem to spawn normal. But on the old parts of the world (server started in december 2010) the animal-spawn is around 0.
Also, this plugin is working in the new parts of the world (basically the Borderlands ;) ), but there it is not needed, because there the spawn works... :(
How would old terrain affect spawn of animals? I can't possibly delete everything and start a new server. This sucks, notch.

yeah that is kinda weird...
I found out why my mobs weren't being effected. Because it only effected newly generated land.. Strange huh?
Thanks! I'll be updating to 1.8 now from 1.5. I got some catching up to do!
