MoreMobs
MoreMobs | Add More Mobs!
Well this is as good as dead but the future looks bleak for all of my plugins. No promises on what will happen in the near future...
ATTENTION!
MoreMobs has officially been succeed by Monster Apocalypse. Its a great plugin and is VERY worthy of taking over this plugin. MoreMobs Lite DOES work on Minecraft 1.0 but MoreMobs was never updated, you may continue to use this plugin if you wish but i strongly encourage you check out Monster Apocalypse We had a good run, thanks to everyone who had a part in it!

Work is being done to FINALLY make this plugin Minecraft 1.0.1 compatible...expect results soon!
MoreMobs Lite
VERSION 1.0 IS OUT NOW!
MoreMobs Lite is a smaller, simpler version of MoreMobs, you can find out more here.
What Is it?
MoreMobs listens for mobs to spawn NATURALLY (not via spawner of command) and spawns more of that mob. I found this is actually pretty sweet and makes the sheep herds look a bit more realistic :) it also makes night fighting more fun! Any Sheep spawned by this plugin will be colored! The coloring is completely random! MoreMobs will make Giants spawn naturally! You can now TRULY make more mobs spawn and not just increase the amount already spawned. There is now an option to allow animals (Chickens, Cows, Wolves, and Pigs) to spawn in loaded chunks. See bellow for more details. NEW! Mob damage and Mob health are now configurable along with the ability to stop Skeletons and Zombies from burning in sunlight. See the config page.
Why Do I Want It?
Well it's fun and if you don't like fun...well your a boring person and you should probably go play some Minecraft. And it adds colored sheep! And you can get rid of those nasty-looking squids! And you can see naturally spawned Giants!
Commands
As of v1.4 there is now 1 command available:
/mmreload - Reloads the plugin
How Do I Install It?
Just dump it in your Plugins folder. After you have run it at least once a folder called MoreMobs will appear in your Plugins directory. Inside there is one file, config.yml, take a look at the config page.
How Do I Configure It?
Take a look at the config page.
Where Do I Get It?
You can download it here! (DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD AT THE UPPER-RIGHT, IT MAY NOT BE UPDATED!)
Source???
Of course silly! The source is on our GitHub here which SHOULD be updated.
Bugs We're Aware Of
- IT DON'T WORK ON 1.0!!!
No sound is played when your attacked if you set a custom damage valueFIXED! Except on instant kills...If you set a custom damage value armor is ignoredFIXED! It could use some testing but I think I fixed it...Mobs don't seem to spawn in already loaded chunksFIXED! I changed chunkPopulate to chunkLoad which seems to have fixed this but it needs some testing...Add cool-down timePROBABLY FIXED BUT UNTESTED! Because I'm no longer canceling the event this SHOULD be fixed but it needs testing...Giants are acting very weird and spawn like crazy even if disabled...POSSIBLY FIXED I'LL TEST IT WHEN I GET HOME!
Did you find one that's not listed? Did I lie? Leave a comment!
What's Next?

@TheShadowDraco
hmmm try 1.8 1.9 seems to have more bugs than it fixes :)
Ran into an interesting issue. I like the sounds of this mod, so I added it to my server. With this mod active, however, I am unable to enter any commands into the server console (i.e. "stop" to save and shut down the server). I tried both the java 1.7 and 1.6 versions of the mod (Server is running 1.7, but checked both anyway). As soon as I removed the .jar from the directory (and reloaded the server), I was able to enter commands again.
I did not try any versions before 1.9.1.
@xXZymosisXx
all right ill look at it 2 morrow *yawns*
@hammale
Nope.
@Reznikakime
yeah but 1.9.1 still doesn't seem to be perfect...ill get i one of these updates :)
@xXZymosisXx
were you by chance wearing any armor?
Upgrading this mod made me invincible, I couldn't take any damage from mobs, any other players, fall damage, drowning, or even lava. Mobs couldn't damage other players too but the players where still vulnerable to anything else that could damage them. Why's this?
Edit: I took a bunch of damage, then my hearts started going down. I guess my health bar grew a bunch but I couldn't see it. But still, why would updating the mod make it do this in the first place? I had to downgrade to fix this.
Sorry, didn't have a chance to further test it yesterday. =/
Looking forward to 1.9.1 for Java 1.7!
@Liger_XT5
ok 1.9.1 adds the SheepColor.allow option which SHOULD work but im at school right now so I cant test it. It also contains a fix that SHOULD correct the giant problem but again I cannot test it at school...
@Liger_XT5
yeah 1.9 has a bug w/ giants and ill add a sheep option in 1.9.1...
@hammale
If I put giants at either 0 or -1 and leave the spawn chance on chunk load at 5, we still see a fair number of giants. Is there a setting to disable the sheep spawning with unnatural colors?
@Reznikakime
Yeah I've heard a lot if bugs regarding giants...try disabling them and lowering the spawnOnchunk load values and see if that fixes the lock...
Argh, I should have refreshed before I edited my comment. I'll repost it.
It seems that the java 1.7 version of 1.9 has a tendency to hang up my server. This was the the only change I made today and since removing it, the server has been fine. Console gives no errors, the server just hard locks.
I'll also add that Giants were spawning all over the place when I upgraded from 1.8 to 1.9. I didn't change their spawn rate.
@Reznikakime
wow thanks much :) the terrain thing is kinda weird but im glad its working for you :)
@xenomat
wat i did notice is that when i used worldEdit's butcher and logged out right away (causing little to no mobs to spawn) and then restarted the server mobs seemed to spawn more...the terrain thing is really weird :D
EDIT: YAYZ I GOT THE :D FACE TO WORK!! LOOKS LOADS BETTER THAN :)
I can definitely say that on my server, the spawning issue isn't a problem. The main world is a mix of 1.7 and 1.8 generated terrain, and on both mob spawns are working just as they're meant to from MoreMobs.
I'm about to go through and reconfigure the mob damage once more (Why didn't I just save the vaules..) and from there, test the armor pen issue.
Thanks for keeping this updated! Everyone loves it!

@hammale
My first impression: Wandering through our old terrain, there are nearly zero animals, maybe one per 300 blocks. I even set spawn on chunk load to 0 to see a difference.
So for a test i regenerated an area of 10x10 chunks. This is a function of WorldEdit and it reverts an area to the state the WorldGenerator would create it. This regenerated area was a few blocks lower than the old terrain which was generated in december 2010 (so maybe by 1.1 or so), and immediately after /regen, like 100 chickens spawned all around me.
Maybe animals spawn only on old terrain, if the terrain by the new worldgenerator would be higher than the old one? But that can't be true for all our land... it can't all be higher than it would be with the new generator.
Also, i have a big construction site on old terrain, which is a few blocks under sea level. SuprisingIy i saw some animals there... more as in all the other old terrain combined.
When i wandered into new terrain, i also saw very few animals, the spawn feeled like on the old terrain. So to sum up: Only when i regenerated old to new terrain, the spawn seemed like i set it in the config file. But not under normal circumstances.
So i'm really confused now. :(
<edit>
I restartet the server without moremobs, walked a few chunks until i found some pigs, then reactivated moremobs again. Then i walked by a good number of pigs and some cows in what seemed like a forest biome. After that, i found the first colored sheep, over 2000 Blocks away from our Spawnpoint, maybe 1000 Blocks into newly generated terrain.
Maybe it needs some running around to get going? I will keep it on a testserver and watch the next few days. </edit>
@hammale
So... why would they not spawn on old terrain? :(
I'm testing 1.9 during the next few days. *fingers crossed*
@DamianJobs
lol yeah sry bout the sheep...I just figured everyone would like it :) and i imagine you maen configurable mob drops? i like it :) im a bit tied up w/ spyer but ill get on that...
EDIT: how'd u make that grin face??? I hate the smile here but :P doesnt wrk like it does on bukkit :(
I can't wait for the colored sheep option :D It's fun 5 minutes but it's so strange to have blue sheep...
"got any ideas?"
- Mob loots ;)
