CHDistantFarm is a lightwight and highly optimized plugin that keeps your plants growing when you're away and the chunk is unloaded.

Installation:
- Put the plugin in your plugins directory

Known bugs:
- Growing does not work for the spawn area
- Thats a minor issue, because the spawn chunk is always loaded, and the game will grow your plants without the plugin

Tested your plugin today on my servers. We have 8 servers with 1600+ players on them, some of the servers have over 300 players online.
Your plugin works magically good. All the players simple loved it, but on the other hand we noticed a VERY high and serious increase on CPU load and server resources as well. This is pretty sad as your plugin is really great.
FYI: The main cause of lag is on ChunkLoadEvent and a TASK #30 event (NoLagg cannot identify what it is). We have all NoLagg reports if you want it.
Please try to optimize your plugin for big servers.

This is a nice plugin i'm going to look forward to using this.
That would be very resource demanding, because grass is not a real (by hand) plant(able) block. For grass support i would have to check every single block in a chunk in the chunk load event.
would u mind adding lava flow and grass(along with mycelium) growth to this plugin? and maybe fire burn if its not too hard or resource extensive
i know this is not related to farming but this is how minecraft ought to be

only plugins i think that would cause the issue would be essentials, no-lagg, core protect, and residence although i only use residence for server shops for player to purchase.

Yes, minecraft keeps the spawn area chunk(s) loaded. But as long as you are logged in, the plants in this chunk will grow normally without the plugin. They will only stop, if you log out.

Thank you. Im going to make a similar mod for smelting, but i dont have that much time at the moment.
It works great in CB 1.2.5-R1.3 too. Only if the chunk is near the spawn, you will get problems, but most likely, a lot of players will walk by, and your plants grow.
This is an awsome mod, thankyou very much! Added this to the server I play on, and life has become much better. Don't even have to be logged in for my wheet to be ready.
One question though, do you know of a mod like this for smelting? And if one does not would you consider making it?

Hey Zacherl, thank you so much for this plugin! It makes farming way better. I have one request, could you please add a value to the config value to slow or speed up growth rate? I've added the plugin to my sever which makes growing crops way more enjoyable, but my players have more food that I would like because of the growth rate. If you could add an option where you could tweak the growth-rate based on a percent, it would be perfect!
For instance, the default value could be 1.0, which would allow the crops to grow at the default rate. Adjusting the value to 0.5 would grow the crops at 50% their usual rate, while a 1.5 value would be 150% their normal rate. I know that this is likely more complicated than I'm making it out because of the growth algorithms used, but if the modifier could be used to multiply the default growth rates by the value, then it might just work.
I'm really hoping this could be done, thank you again for this great plugin (I can't believe MC doesn't work this way by default!)

You can change the SQLite to MySQL in your bukkit.yml.
