Unusuals
Unusual Hats in Minecraft!
What is Unusuals?
Unusuals is a plugin I made over the course of a few hours because I felt like it. What it does is add Unusual hats (like in TF2) to Minecraft. These hats have an unusual effect attached to them, which is defined in the config. When a player is wearing one, their hat will emit particles as per its configuration. So, a Burning Flames helmet will emit flame particles. You can also configure the speed and radius of the particles, as well as the tick interval between particles spawning and the number to spawn each time.
How do I start using it?
To start using Unusuals, just drop it in your plugins folder. Then, use the command "/unusual spawn ITEM_NAME Effect Name" to add an unusual with the given effect to your inventory. For example, "/unusual spawn DIAMOND_HELMET Burning Flames" will spawn a Burning Flames Diamond Helmet. If you want to add custom effects, see the predefined ones for reference, as well as this page for a list of usable particle effects.
Will it break between Minecraft versions?
No. The plugin supports Minecraft versions going back to 1.7.10 via its legacy NMS hooks, and will support new versions for the forseeable future courtesy of the native particle API introduced in Bukkit for 1.9.

Thank you so much for developing such a wonderful plugin! I have already installed it on the server, and our players are very happy!
@ConortEd
Hm, that's... odd. Would mind creating a ticket so we can further discuss the issue there?
@caseif
Sorry, I was wrong. The problem now is different. When I take my hat off , the effect still works .
@ConortEd
Can you verify that you're using version 0.2.0 of the plugin? I would expect this behavior from v0.1.0.
Hi again! Thanks for the quick reply. I'm really looking forward to this plugin, but i still have a problems:
Nice Plugin!
@leon6er
You can only use configured unusual effects, not particle effects alone. They can be viewed and tweaked in the plugin's config.yml file.
i would type something like this and it would say invalid effect /unusual spawn DIAMOND_HELMET AIR_BUBBLE
@leon6er
Could you please elaborate a bit?
none of the effects work for me
@ConortEd
Not sure what would cause this, but I'll look into it.
Edit: Apparently Bukkit only considers player inventories as such when the player is in creative mode, which was messing with the plugin's logic in the click event. Also, the slot numbers completely change. I'm about to push a commit that fixes this and also makes the plugin much more efficient. I'll try to get it up on DBO by the end of the day. :)
@Zendrex
Unfortunately, the plugin is limited to the particle effects built into Minecraft. It may be technically possible to manually transform the particles, but doing so would be quite scary to code, and would probably look kind of awkward.
Being able to see things like orbiting would be awesome. But, great plugin none the less. :)
Also, the person below me is correct, hats effects dont go away if you take them off your head.
Hi! I have got a little problem. When I take off my hat, unusual effect does not disappear. What i can do with that? UPD: It because do not working in SURVIVAL gamemode, but working in CREATIVE gamemode. Why?
@ZombieCraft26
You're going to need to elaborate a bit.
The plugin is bugging.
@Skynergy
Effects can be defined in the config. I believe there are comments in there detailing how to do so.
Hey owner,PLZ MORE EFFECTS!!!!
Sorry for the delay in replies.
@FCobi
I may implement something like this in the future.
@FCobi
Probably, though I haven't tested it.
@Zahzi
I'll definitely add this in a future update.
@apesgrapes
I don't test my plugins with unofficial builds, but if it breaks with vanilla Bukkit at 1.7.10, I'll be sure to fix it.
@reploidxzero
Unfortunately, this isn't implemented at the moment, but I'll probably add it soon.
Is there a way to spawn in items with a damage? Like say I want to spawn in unusual stained glass block, I cannot do it with the colors, only white
effects not showing up in 1.7.10 (spigot) but will keep an eye out for an update, this is a great idea.
