Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.
I have found a weird little bug. I am using Spigot 1.7.10. Latest dev versions of the Traincarts plugin and BKCommonLib.
If I disconnect and then reconnect to the server it is very difficult to right click to enter a train/cart. Spam clicking sometimes gets you in.
I can disconnect and reconnect and duplicate this behavior every time. The train is public and every setting is enabled to allow players to enter and exit. The other strange thing is that if I spam right click enough times and successfully enter the train - every attempt after this works perfectly everytime (until I log off again in which case the problem comes back).
At the moment I am forced to use an enter sign but this (for some reason) picks you up automatically. This doesn't seem to be mentioned as the expected behavior of this sign when reading the Wiki.
This is a great little plugin and I hope very much that development continues despite the politics going on with Mojang, Bukkit and Spigot right now.
Edit: I think I might have found out what it is. If you logon to a server and don't interact with ANYTHING. The carts treat you as if you don't exist (and yes that includes any collision settings). If I logon to the server and place a block of any kind the carts acknowledge me straight away.
The detector rail bug is fixed for me in the latest bkcommonlib snapshot
Detector rails bugs are not caused by TrainCarts.
It is an issue in all minecraft servers, as they are triggered by client packets which can be delayed.
This issue is hard to fix
I'm running a spigot server with the latest development build of this plugin, on top of that also have hangrails working perfectly fine. maybe you have something set-up wrong, review what you have if all else fails, redownload it as maybe your internet had a hiccup while downloading the first time.
1.7.9-R0.1-SNAPSHOT forgot to mention that yes indeed i am running 1.7.9 too
Update please, it was an awesome plugin :'(
Update please it is not compatible with 1.7.10 and 1.7.9
@TMCThomas
I got the same problem Thomas, but I don't think it will be fixed soon... I reported the bug in April! And it still isn't fixed :/
please fix the detection rail bug. all the atraction has stopped working after the bug
Latest build won't work. Please, update it. I can't live without trains on my server.
I have a 1.7.9 Server and i'm making a funpark i need this plugin so hard but this plugin doesn't get updated :( i also tried putting the 1.7.2 version in it but it just doesn't work, just some things work but like making trains(which i want the most) doesn't work, so please update this plugin, Thanks for reading!
This does not work at all!! I have all the right versions of Bk and TC but it doesnt work. I went into 1.7.9 and all I could do was join them. You cannot move them in 1.7.9! I Went back into 1.7.10 and they were all apart. So what is up with this!?
Please fix the detector rail bug!!
This problem has been dragging on for months!
@Gouru2
It SHOULD, but TrainCarts is emulating vanilla behavior from back before you could do that in Vanilla. allowManualMovement in this case is referring to punching carts, not getting in and pressing Forward. This is frustraing and I've been waiting for it to change for a while.
Also seems to work with 1.7.10.
I am having a problem with manually moving a minecart. I get in the cart, press W and nothing happens. I verified that allowManualMovement is true. Should this work?
@matthijspc
I am using it with 1.7.9 perfectly fine. It works for 1.7.9
Is it possible to use a lever and a redstone lamp as sort of train signal when the train stops on a waiter?
when an empty cart ride over detection_rails. there is no redstone signal please fix this bug in the next version!
Please update this plugin to 1.7.9.!!
