Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.
UPDATE PLEASE TO 1.7.9!!!!!!!!!
@andrewvpo
The train doesn't pick the items up. I have a sign [Train] Property Pickup true but it doesn't work. Do you know what the problem is?
@exfabianex
Yes, give this plugin a go: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/infinite-dispensers-and-droppers/
Let me know how you get on :)
@andrewvpo
Do you know any plugin for that?
@exfabianex
I don't believe you can do this using signs
But if you set the train's "pickUp" property to true, it should pick up nearby items.
So you could have the train pass over a detector rail which triggers a dispenser, with the dispenser placed a few blocks down the track so the item(s) may be dispensed before the train gets to the dispenser.
So the dispensed items will be picked up by the train and stored in the storage minecart(s)
You could use this with a plugin that automatically refills dispensers
Hi! Is it possible to make a sign that spawn items in a Minecart with Chest?
I'm still loving TrainCarts :D Can't wait for any future developments :)
I made a little imgur album of my railway network that uses traincarts http://imgur.com/a/srkqC
and added some cool station markers & lines to the server's dynmap at http://play.shirecraft.us:6635/
keep it up :D
@Obi100
You'll probably have to find the matching version of bkcommonlib
@draccydragon
I'm using:
Traincarts: 1.73.0
BKCommonLib: 1.57
craftbukkit: 1.7.2 R0.3
myworlds: 1.67
No real issues with Train Carts - even the trains are going through my portals from one world to another ok. I now have >50 stations travelling around every biome in one map with 100k tracks.
Routing doesn't work across portals but then I didn't expect it to. I developed a workaround for this where the cart stops when entering a new world allowing a new destination to be selected.
Overall I am impressed with what you can do with Train Carts and very grateful for all the work put in by the developers.
It don't work.
@hellpish
I download craftbukkit for 1.6.2 and traincarts for 1.6.2 but it says it is 1.7.2 .
@Obi100
The 1.6.2 build should work for you.
@CraftingTimes
It looks like you didn't install the dependency plugin bkcommonlib (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bkcommonlib/). That is required for traincarts to work :)
Can you make a version for 1.6.4 please :)
Do you guys (developers of this plugin) even read support tickets?
Hi! When I try to load the plugin, it can't start because of this error:

Can somebody help me out? Thank you!
Hi!
Is it a bug that trains "bugging" when they are moving or is it that i have too many trains on my server? It takes years to travel with the trains and i'm pissed of on that now. Thanks!
@xmybu
This has not been working for me. What version(s) are you using?
@nymetsfan1999
Yes, start the sign with [+train] and you won't require redstone power for it.
while i run this plugin with TC-Hangrail addon, the detector rails become completely disfunctional Is this an config option or an bug? Greetz, Neusor
