Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server

As of version 2.3.1, this plugin uses an automatic updater to check if you are running the latest version, and if not, it downloads the latest version. To disable this please set "Auto-Update" to "false" in the config.yml file.
Can I get a full list of permission nodes to use?
Ex: I want to allow unopped player groups on PEX to have access to Simple Prefix.
Yes I looked at the suggested area and could not find it.
That's for your time and consideration
@eircl
No, it should work fine with Spigot. I might be able to help more if you could provide more details, such as your config file, permissions, etc.
@maxer137
What? Do you mean default prefix/suffix? If so, create a group in SimplePrefix with the prefix or suffix you want, and then give the permission for this group to the default group in your permissions plugin.
is there a way to set the default?
@BaranCODE
No there are none , and it isn't in offline mode. I just realised tough , I'm running Spigot and not craftbukkit anymore. Could this be the source of the problem?
@eircl
Are there any errors in the console?
If your server is in offline mode, Simple Prefix may not work.
Hm , I tried everything I can think off. Ingame I used the Spr commands , the mod tells me that my prefix has changed to [ADMIN] but it is still [DEFAULT]. I have already changed the configuration (I removed 'time' and 'world' , cause that is imho a bit silly) and that went fine.
simpleprefix.command.* is the permission I gave to the mods and administrators in my permissions folder , I use Bpermissions.
I haven't made any groups yet , I only tested on me individually.
I have a suggestion for the plugin. I think that it would be great if the plugin was made compatible with essentials, so when you use the /list command it shows the simpleprefix prefix and suffix. Thanks for reading :D
@BaranCODE
No sadly, doesn't work. :c
@lichkungoMatch
As you have all permissions (*) you're being given the permission for both prefixes. As you don't have multiPrefix turned on, SimplePrefix has to choose between the two groups, and it chooses the top one.
So if you want pluginmaster to have a higher priority than the other group, you should have it listed first in your config.

@Ianord
PM me your permissions and SPR config file.
Hey dude, before you say, I have gone through the config and I've done everything 'by the book' and it just doesn't update in-game. I've removed the world and time prefix and just kept the group and suffix stuff there, but it doesn't change in-game when I reload/update, it reverts back to just showing the time then the players name, sometimes the world, and nothing else, even though time and world aren't even in the config file at all anymore! I've tried adding the permission 'simpleprefix.<group>' to the permissions file but when I attempt to reload that in-game, it says the the configuration is incorrect even with ': true' and without it in the permissions file. I'm seriously stumped dude, I haven't a clue what I'm doing wrong!
@SolarShrieking
I haven't tested it, but you should be able to place the tags you see in SimplePrefix's Template.format into other plugins (such as [prefix], [name], [world], etc.)
@BaranCODE
@BaranCODE alright, thank you. Also, is there any way to use the prefixes and suffixes from this plugin in other chat formatters, so maybe we could do {spr_prefix}/{spr_suffix} and it would show the users prefix(es)/suffix(es) as defined in the spr config?
@hakim567
There's no reason Simple Prefix would be doing that, it's either another plugin interfering or your permissions have been set world-specific.
@TheKillHD
No, not any time soon. "SimplePrefix may or may not work in offline mode. No support will be offered to offline mode servers"
@SolarShrieking
That's strange, I seem to remember it working, although I may be mistaken. I'll look into this and get back to you.
Hello,
I was wondering if there was / if you could add support for Unicode symbols that Minecraft supports, like ★. Pasting the symbol in the prefix section does not work, and escaping it using \u2605 doesn't work either. :c
Hope that you can help! <3
hey,
Sorry for my English, I speak french.
The plugin don't work with cracked players, can you fix that please ?
Thanks
Hi need help so i want the chat to be displayed on the entire server like [Faction (World name)] [Prefix] [Name] But it only display it on the world :( im running spigot 1.8.8
@jamessathie
"Use the permission simpleprefix.<group name> to add a person to a group."
how do you add users to groups (sorry this is a dumb question)
