Simple Factions
Simple Factions
What is Simple Factions?
Simple Factions is a complete rewrite of the popular Factions plugin. With Simple Factions, you have much more control than before with every little detail of the plugin, and we even feature a 3D chunk claiming system. Also, I don't remove features at random like those guys over at massivecraft do.
You can download the latest version from github, if you want it straight from the source.
here's a link - download it by hitting "view raw". Bleeding edge updates are unapproved by bukkit, so keep that in mind. The github is currently hosting SimpleFactions v1.86 or newer.
Features
- 3D chunk claiming system with configurable claim sizes (in each direction!)
- Tons of options!
- Faction homes, protections, and money.
- Faction, Ally, Enemy, Global, Local, and even custom chat channels (for the more advanced factions, with complicated relations).
- On-the-fly loading of config and data files - no reloading required!
- A very complex (but simple to use!) access system that allows for both global permission changes and per chunk access settings.
- Warzone, safezone, and peaceful faction toggles - for example, you can have multiple warzone factions, each with their own names.
- CUSTOM LANGUAGE SUPPORT (new in v1.89 of SF) - You can create your own language packs.
Help!
- With the simple /sf help command, you can view every single command in the game. For a full list of commands and in depth descriptions, click here.
- Here is an explanation of the power and claims systems.

Permissions
There are only two permissions in Simple Factions, which are..
- simplefactions.sf - it is turned on be default.
- simplefactions.admin - For admins/OPs only; disabled by default. This allows the owners to not be controlled by block protections and disband any factions.
Configuration
Be sure to check out the config.yml file, once you load up the plugin. The plugin is extremely plug and play! If you're a basic user, Simple Factions is as simple as it gets; just drop in the jar and run your server! If you are the more advanced, tinkering type of user; Simple Factions supports editing of config and data files on the fly. This means that you will never need to reload the plugin or restart the server for changes to take effect.
The future!
Simple Factions is a work in progress. Everything posted on this page should already work - if not, please feel free to make a ticket to warn us of possible bugs.

- You should post about it in the comments! I'd love to see the plugin in action, especially on a large scale server.

SimepleFactions uses plugin metrics. You can opt out of this by changing a config setting in your plugins folder.
@dlmartin1991
There are two simpleFactions downloads for v1.7 of simpleFactions, one is for Bukkit 1.7.10 and one is for 1.8, is what I'm trying to say.
Be sure to try both, if you don't know which bukkit build you're on. But bukkit SHOULD tell you the exact version if you do /version in the console or with a player who has OP.
@Cotycrg
That might be the problem. SpartanHost has it's own portal for installing plugins, and it only tells me that it's version 1.7, not which 1.7. I'll try installing it manually.
@dlmartin1991
Are you sure that you are using the correct build of simpleFactions? Check again, one is specifically for 1.7.10 and one is specifically for 1.8.
Hey! My players have been very excited about a factions plugin, and after dismissing Factions as being to heavy for my server, yours sounded like the perfect fit... but nothing works.
Every time we try to use any commands related to the plugin, we get an "interneal error message" and it isn't just a matter of priveledges (which are set up properly, I believe) because even with OP priviledges, I can't do anything. We're running 1.8 bukkit and we're using the plugins Movecraft, Multiworld, and bookshelf- none of which seem like they should interfere. Any assistance will be appreciated!
@sgdc3
I had somebody have this same issue, but it was fixed when I made them a build specifically for 1.7.10 bukkit / spigot. I just now posted one.
(http://puu.sh/dYYQj/621f375dcf.jar is the jar file, if it hasn't been approved by bukkit yet).
Let me know if this fixes the issue. In the future, please use the tickets page to report bugs.
I can't use essentials chat prefix!
@sexypiggy101
Right now!
when will the update be out!
I got the plugin it works but it removed all my chat stuff such as my prefixes What happened?!?!?
@antoilmalvagio
@sgdc3
I've finished that already; just need to update the jar when I get back in town.
@OMG_GABRIEL
Soon as I'm in town, sorry. Will probably be online on Monday night or sometime this Tuesday. I had finals all last week so I was pretty busy and didn't get a chance to finish up what I was working on before uploading the jar, sorry about that.
@Cotycrg
When's that gonna be ready? <3
Please add EssentialsChat link like the classic faction (custom prefix, groups, colors, etc...).
Please add custom chat
@OMG_GABRIEL
I finished writing the code for it. I made a config option (now enabled by default) to inject simplefactions stuff into the chat instead of taking it completely over. Also added a config option to dissallow usage of simplefaction chat channels, in case you want to use your own plugin's. It will show up in the next update.
@madtomic
Next update I'll add builds for both versions.
Keep a lookout for v1.70. I'll have it up as soon as it's ready.
Will you be adding the fixes in 1.65 to 1.7.9 and 1.7.10?
@Cotycrg
Alright, thanks. Any ETA for that? We really like the way it is except for that chat feature, but we'll use it anyway. :P
@OMG_GABRIEL
Hey. Unfortunately in its current state simpleFactions doesn't play well with other chat plugins. In the future I'll try to make config options to make it nicer and compatible. But for now all I can do is recommend turning off essentials chat and just using simplefactions chat. It has global and local chat built in, as well as a few other goodies.
When I get a chance I'll make an injection chat mode, rather than the replacement mode currently being used.
How can you add the faction name into essentials chat display?
@ThisUsernameIsMine
It could be another factor; maybe a conflicting plugin or the fact that you have a lot of players to test with. If so there might still be an issue and I'm just not able to replicate it at the moment.
