MobHealth
Mob Health
This simple but invaluable plugin lets you know the damage you just caused to a mob (including other players), and how much health it has left.
Now with ActionBars!
If you have 1.8 bukkit/spigot then you can now enable actionbars by adding useActionBar: true to your config (or set to false to disable).
-
Mob Health has a range of useful options including:
- Control over how messages are shown
- When messages are shown
- When messages are *not* shown (a useful feature!)
- Exactly what is displayed - including your own custom messages...
Current Release Version: 9.1.0
Updater Information
Note that unless you edit MobHealth configuration it will automatically update as new versions are approved by the Bukkit team.
You can edit config.yml
in the /plugins/MobHealth/
folder you can find the following settings.
updateCheck true
- Show notification of available updates.
doUpdate true
- Update MobHealth automatically when new download is available.
Change doUpdate to false to stop any file download, and updateCheck to false to stop notices about new versions in your startup log.
Got API?
MobHealth now has 100% more API included!
You can trigger damage notifications, if your plugin adds skills or spells for example. And far more usefully - you can query MobHealth to get the current health and max health of any Mob, regardless of which plugin is responsible for tracking it.
Think of it as Vault for mob health levels ;) You code for one plugin - I sort out the mess behind the scenes.
See the API page for more info.
NEW healthbars!!
As frequently requested, MobHealth can now display health bars above Mobs, and a health counter for players.
PLEASE NOTE: If enabled - these bars show above ALL players / mobs, regardless of any toggle or permissions settings.
Enable this feature with the following flags in config:
showPlayerHeadHealth: true
Enables health counter display below player names.
usePercentForPlayer: true
Changes health counter from HP to a percentage of health left (recommended).
showMobHeadHealth: true
Enable health bars for all mobs.
useBarForMobs: true
If true, use a health bar in format of [||||||||||] if false, show in format of "10/20"

If Spout-plugin is installed and the client uses SpoutCraft (and disableSpout is on its default false setting) then notification will be shown with the achievement notification (as seen above).

Thanks to coldandtired for adding in MaxHealth and an API for me :)
Mob Arena
Bosses in a currently running Mob Arena report correct health and max-health. As do waves with a modified reduced health.
Thanks to garbagemule for adding MaxHealth to mob area for me.
LikeABoss/Corruption
MobHealth detects wandering bosses and correctly reports their health and name.
Thanks to bm01 and Erackron for integration help.
Monster Apocalypse (6.0b+)
If Monster Apocalypse is set to handle mob's health then these values are used for MobHealth.

Stats Collection
Like many bukkit plugins, Mobhealth utilises Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
- The number of damage notices displayed (but not their content)
Opting out of this service can be done by editing plugins/Plugin Metrics/config.yml and changing opt-out to true.

Download
Github no longer allows a "downloads" section, so I no longer mirror files there. If you'd like to test beta/dev versions follow me on twitter and ask there! But understand such files would not yet be approved by BukkitDev staff.
Known Bugs/Conflicts
- Plugins that alter mobs health levels usually return false health levels.
The plugins listed above are supported.
Donations
Donations of any amount are, of course appreciated :)
Contributions go towards maintaining my development server to encourage continued development, MobHealth is solo coded by me, and supporting so many other plugin takes a fair bit of time. So if you think that time is worth something then Hit the dontae button in the top right of this page :)
@BeatkidzThanks for that. Sounds like the same thing as mob arena - will look into it once 1.1 RB is out. :)
@SableDnah
Heros works with it. i have tested it. it when i start changing Total heath of mobs it gets weird. if i change a spider to have 100 health it still displays it as 20. the same goes for classes with larger amounts of health... And if my spider has 100 health and i start killing it it dies at around 3/20 health left. so its not tracking the health correctly with these custom hacked in healths. and thank you so much for even looking into it. i have built my last few servers with Mcmmo but now i realized the full potential of Heroes
tanks
@Beatkidz
Had a brief look at heroes and it seams like the damage notification bit will work fine for melee and arrows.
What else did you have in mind?
@shankomaster
Just checked out MobArena, and unfortunately no it doesn't work.
MobArena seams to be mid update too - so depending which version you're using the boss will either behave like a normal Mob (and my plugin's notifications then 'work') or notifications always say 1 damage and health is max/max.
Once a CraftBukkit RB for 1.1 is out and MobAreana is updated for that I'll look again.
does this work with bosses in mob arena?
@Beatkidz
Not used Heroes. I'll give it a look and see how it handles damage events once i've localised the entity names :)
@nonox97
Glad you like. As you may have noticed the entity names (Pig, Sheep Zombie, etc.) haven't been localized yet. That'll be coming soon.
@Swords761
Took me ages to get colours working - especially with Spout notifications - lol! You should be able to add &X colour codes to the strings to use your own colours.
What version of Bukkit are you using? - I've heard alot of reports of colours being broken in the new 1.1 dev builds...
Anyway to plug into the Heroes HP/MP API. this is perfect for the RPG style server i'm creating
:D great
Could be wrong, but I think the colors aren't working anymore since you made the lang.yml file.
@nonox97
I will have a try. I am using an ugly, dirty hack to get the entity type that will only work for English.
So I will probably do it in 2 phases. First phase will be to localize "took X damage" and "X/Y health", then I guess I will have to work on getting the entity names in a "proper" way :)
can you make a config file for language? :D
v1.8 now out - Github link as ever points to the latest version, whilst the bukkit file is awaiting approval.
1.6 now available. Now tracks projectiles too.
Github download link is for the1.6 jar, dev.bukkit file is awaiting approval.
@andrewzhang
With a spout enabled server and client you get notification boxes like this.
Without spout (or if you disable it) the damage info is show in chat like on this image...
What does the spout do? In other words, what will change if I enable spout? Thanks. Great idea btw
@Sk8Sanctified
Right now it triggers when a player causes damage to another 'living entity'. So that means a player hitting another Player or a Mob.
I plan on making it work for 'projectiles' like arrows next - once I figure out how to back track through events to find out who fired it!
After that i can look into other popular causes of damage to players/mobs. The key is being able to track back from the damage event back to the player who is to 'blame' :)
@Sk8Sanctified
This.
