McDesktopInfo
With McDesktopInfo you can show information about your server live on your desktop. This package includes a bukkit server plugin and a Windows Sidebar gadget (The sidebar is only available in Windows Vista and 7). The plugin, once started, opens up a socket on a configurable port, that is used to exchange data with the gadget. When the socket gets a query to do something from the gadget it automatically processes this query by getting the queried data from the server and sending it back to the gadget.
Features
- Leightweight plugin that uses a socket to exchange data with the gadget
- Configurable Windows Sidebar gadget with multiple backgrounds
- Secure: No HTTP requests to the socket are able to get behind the plugin
- Use special admin functions directly from your desktop using a password system
- Kick players via the gadget
Features
- Servername
- Current / Max players
- Plugin version
- Craftbukkit version
- Playerlist
- Kicking players
- Used / total RAM
- Tickrate
- Chat history
I will NOT implement any queries that would harm the server in any way.
Instructions
TODO
- Gadget design overhaul
- Send chat messages from gadget
- Planned queries: CPU load, uptime (Feel free to suggest even more via Forum/Comments/PM)
@Dam4rusxp
With 1.5.1-0.1, the RAM count seems to be missing.
@OnyxNewt
Just try it with 1.5, it should work flawlessly.
I will get this when it is updated to MC 1.5 for sure!
Yes! I need this!
Looks nice! I will try it later. Maybe an idea to show the tps? To see if your server has lag or not?

nice plugin im using it every day to chek the server properties thank for been awesome!!
A wild update has arrived!
Mod removed link to unapproved file. Nice presentation though :P
@re3ell
Sorry for my delayed answer. You can use the latest plugin version with the newest Bukkit relaease without problems.
@GumbyDammit
I fixed this and already uploaded the changes to GitHub but I still want to do some changes before the next update.
Is the plugin working on CB 1.4.7 R1.1? If so could you Update the Facts at the right of this page? If not are you going to update it (soon)? I would really like to use it on my tekkit server.
I notice that if 10 or more players are on the server, the Player List display chops off all but the first 9.
@re3ell
This exception shouldn't have happened. It reads like there are problems with simultaneous connections from different IP's. That's also a problem I can't take on at the moment because I had to cancel my server as the provider doesn't host in UK anymore and I don't really have the money for a new one right now.
@Dam4rusxp
Thanks for the fast fix.
Just some code Nitrado told me was logged in Version 0.4.5 (maybe it will help you):
@re3ell
I forgot to update the command to get the playerlist in the gadget. Was a fast fix that you can find here.
Thank you for this nice plugin. It is very useful to know wether someone is online on my server.
There is only one problem. The Playerlist is not working (adminpw correct) for me.
Is this just not implemented yet or did i do something wrong?
@Dam4rusxp
I think it's useful and I thank you for providing the only one that I know of. I use it at home and at work to keep an eye on my server. I run several gadgets under Win7 and have no intention of trying to adapt to the FrankenGUI that is Win8.
I knew about these problems for a long time and still decided to keep updating this project. I guess that many people won't even upgrade to Windows 8 because they don't like it and you don't HAVE to disable the sidebar in Windows 7/Vista. Most people actually like to have more information directly accessible from their desktop and I would like to support them with this project.
Aside from that McDesktopInfo is completely open source and doesn't use any third party libs other than Bukkit itself so you can always look at the source by yourself and decide if there are any security risks in it that you don't want to take into account.
I also plan on porting the gadget to other widget programs/desktops.
the sidebar is removed from the w8 and users of w7 and vista are recommended to shut down the sidebar.

RIP... Windows 8 no longer supports gadgets. :(
@Dam4rusxp
Thank you.
@GumbyDammit
Oh, I totally forgot to take them out... You can find the fixed version here.
