LoreLocks is a plugin which allows you to physically secure your chests with chest locks and traps.

Locks
Locks come in 6 difficulties, 1-5 change the cylinder count of the lock and the 6th difficulty makes the lock unpickable, or in other words only the person which has the key can open the lock.
To create a key of a lock simply drop a lockpick on it.
Depending on the difficulty locks have a different amount of cylinders
- Difficulty 1 has 3 cylinders
- Difficulty 2 has 4 cylinders
- Difficulty 3 has 5 cylinders
- Difficulty 4 has 6 cylinders
- Difficulty 5 has 7 cylinders
Then place it in the first slot of the chest (upper left slot) to lock the chest. Make sure to create a key by dropping a lockpick onto the lock before locking the chest if you want to avoid picking your own chest every time.
If you forget to create a key from an unpickable lock ask an admin for help, he can bypass the lock and open the chest for you.
Traps
Traps are items which will secure your chest even more, to add a trap to a chest place it in the second slot, right next to the lock.
They are triggered when a player fails to pick the chest, i.E. whenever he clicks the wrong cylinder and the lock gets reset.
Types of traps
The damage trap
Damage traps damage the player which is trying to pick the lock every time he fails to pick the right cylinder. Power determines the amount of hearts (not half hearts) which are taken away.
The explosive trap
Explosive traps create an explosion on the location of the player failing to pick the lock. The explosion does not damage any blocks. For the power of explosive traps check this wiki article.
The poison trap
Poison traps apply the poison potion effect to the player failing, the power attribute determines the level of the poison effect.
The power attribute ranges from 1-127.

Is there any way you could write in some permissions so we can limit what locks players can craft?? Say only a donor can craft a master lock, and a newbie cant lock at all until they rank up?

It looks like LoreLocks is "working" for 1.7.4. There are certain KeyID's that won't work and produce a key that is lets say unscannable by the LockEvent class. What I'd love to see is some information on how to use lockable doors and possibly a keyring feature so you don't have to carry around 10 unique keys for each lock.
After looking through the code it would be nice to have created locks automatically generated with a 12 byte Alphanumeric sequence instead of being blank and getting their sequence from the KeyCreateEvent.
You could then have a keyring with an array list that has the lock sequences pushed onto it. Run a for loop once the keyring is found (It already scans inventory with a for loop) to see if any string in the keyring matches the string on the lock.

This plugin is bomb, I got it on my server but like everyone else is saying, keys are not working properly.
We're still going to continue to use it, people are just lockpicking their chests until you guys update. I really hope you guys consider updating this plugin, definitely something our server needs!

the lock system works fine,
can craft locks and lock picks.
It makes the keys just fine, but when I made a key to a lock placed in the chest.
it takes me to the lock pick screen, instead of opening the chest. When I try to open it with the key in my inventory or in my hand?

Could you hide the perms any better, my players can't pick locks because "It is too difficult" It would be brilliant if you had some kind of setup explained. [EDIT] After digging around I found them, Maybe make them more noticeable?
Any chance you can make it so the success/fail events can be added on a per-lock type basis? so we can have separate events for opening an easy lock and hard lock for example? Would be EXTREMELY helpful for what I'm trying to do and I can think of a few other servers that would find this helpful too.

For this I'd need to completely rework how keys are made as they are currently made from lockpicks.
I'll put it on my To-Do list, maybe I'll implement it as one of the Addons (like one for commands) I mentioned previously.

Updating to 1.7 itself is no problem as I don't use any minecraft code.
The current release for 1.6.2 should also work with 1.6.4 and 1.7.x
Currently I've much to do at work but I hope to release a new version any time soon ;)

Would it be possible to make it optional to use separate recipes for lockpicks and keys? Trying to make it easier to lock things than to pick them.

1.) Have you tried out the hopper protection config option? :) 2.) What do you mean by "better permissions"? Please explain a bit 3.) I want to keep this plugin completely commandles but also think this would be a nice feature. I've thought of some kind of addon (an small additional plugin) only for this specific commands.
