Quick setup
If you simply want all players to always keep their items and experience when they die, add the following to the permissions.yml
file in the root directory of your Bukkit server:
keep-everything:
description: Allow players to keep their armour, their experience and all of their items when they die.
default: true
children:
"keep-items.armor": true
"keep-items.level": true
"keep-items.progress": true
"keep-items.cause.*": true
"keep-items.entity.*": true
"keep-items.item.*": true

Frequently Asked Questions
I have all the correct permissions but when I die I still lose all of my items. Help!
Make sure you don't have any other plugins installed that might interfere with the death/respawn process.
How do I configure this plugin so that players can only keep their items in a single world?
Use a multiworld permissions plugin (e.g. PermissionsBukkit, bPermissions, GroupManager), and only grant the KeepItems permissions in one world.
i want to keep some item not all of it how ??
Update to 1.9 please. :-)
Spigot 1.9:
[15:46:13] [Server thread/ERROR]: Error occurred while enabling KeepItems v1.0.rc3 (Is it up to date?) java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: LOCKED_CHEST
When a player dies, if they hit the "Return to Title" and log back in, their inventory gets deleted, doesn't even drop on the ground. Is this a bug or intentional?
Hi robinjam, i paste all in my bukkit permission.yml and it wont work. I wonder why ? ^^
My paste:
keep-everything: description: Allow players to keep their armour, their experience and all of their items when they die. default: true children: "keep-items.armor": true "keep-items.level": true "keep-items.progress": true "keep-items.cause.*": true "keep-items.entity.*": true "keep-items.item.*": true
I wanna keep my exp and level after dying.
Can you help me please ?
Greetz
Thanks v1.0.rc2 works fine so far with Spigot 1.8.6
@SmallSansSerif
Try rolling back to v1.0.rc2 of this plugin and see if that fixes the issue. I think one of the bugfixes I made in v1.0.rc3 might have broken compatibility with Minecraft 1.8.
Can this be updated for CB/Spigot 1.8.3? Getting an error on startup now:
[22:34:55 INFO]: [KeepItems] Enabling KeepItems v1.0.rc3
[22:34:55 ERROR]: Error occurred while enabling KeepItems v1.0.rc3 (Is it up to date?)

@alphak4money
Probably, yes. Any plugin that interferes with item drops will interfere with this plugin.
Does clearlag conflict with this plugin? When players die they still lost there stuff even though they have the perms. If you know what plugin please tell me. Plugins : WorldBorder , Groupmanager , Worldedit, WorldGuard. Other than those none have to do with death please help.
Does it work for 1.8 ?
@srakath
Maybe you thought you were being funny, but you chose to install the plugin. Your comment makes as much sense as "Hey, your plugin works exactly as you said it would. You suck."
Searching through plugins only delivers 40,000 ways to cheat, and not have to actually play the game. With this plugin it doesn't matter if I die, making the entire game pointless, and causing me to go play L4D instead. Thanks.
Everyone drops every item when they die regardless of their permissions added.
@Iwitrag
I have the same issue. It seems also, that others have having it as well. Bit of a problem when multiple people have the same issue. There is no error message in console, nor anywhere else. I've found that i typically lose tools, food, plants, and sticks. I am running the following plugins;

Hi,
I have problem - I have keep-items.item.* permission but only some items are keeped, some are lost. Can you fix that?
Hello, is there an option to set how much percent of exp player will lose after death?
Something like:
exp-lose-percent: 10 player will lose 10% of his experience
level-lose: true if true, player will lose 10% of ALL his experience, which means, he can lose his levels, if false, player will lose 10% of his experience on his level, so he cannot lose his levels.
I give myself permissions to keep all my stuff, and when I die, I keep it, however it drops on the ground, thus duplicating.
Please supply a fix, thanks.
@Arcental
Not currently, but it's an interesting idea that's been suggested before, so I'll definitely look into it at some point.
Is it possible to have players keep a specific custom item in their inventory after death? The item that they keep could say "Bonded to player" in the lore.
