Joe's Inventory Sort
What is it?
This is a plugin for Minecraft Bukkit servers. Once installed, chests are automatically organized when players open them. Tested and still works in 1.7.2.
How do I use it?
Drop in your plugins folder and your players will enjoy having their chests automatically organized.
How can I configure it?
Sorting is turned on for players by default. Players can toggle sorting by running /isort on or off.
More Information
Along with providing sorting, it avoids problems some similar plugins have such as head and enchanted book stacking. But also keeping things simple and easy to use (i.e. just drop in plugins folder and go).
The official version will be here on dev.bukkit.org. However, if you want the latest which may not be available here yet you can get it from
https://sites.google.com/site/superhappyminecraft/inventory-sort
Latest version is stable (v1.0.5) and well tested on a popular server.
If anyone comes across this, the author has not been online since April 2015, so I decided to update this to work with latest Spigot version (1.8.8) and also invert the functionality, so it's not enabled by default but players need to type "/isort on" to enable it.
If anyone's interested, here's the JAR file: http://ouo.io/URUdzx
BTW: permission nodes are "joe.invsort.access" to give people access to use "isort" command and "joe.invsort.noaccess" to disable use of the "isort" function implicitly, even with the previous permission active. OPs will always have access.
Could you re-update this? Today is December 27th 2016 and that version is not working.

Yes, kinda ;) I feel kinda stupid now as I'm new to Linux and the icons for the archives looks the same. I didn't realize at first that it was zipped up so I put the zip file, not the jar inside it in my plugins folder. Found that out when I was checking why it didn't register at all. Works just fine now and I'm a happy camper, than you for your work!
@Digger412
He will most likely not do this
@Tabardia
Are you putting the jar in the /plugins folder?
Have this in my pluginfolder but it doesn'y seem to even start up with the server, nothing in server log and nothing happen when i open chests.
Great plugin, but could it be made compatible with the IronChest 1.7.2 mod? It's great that it sorts regular wooden chests, and it'd be wonderful if it could sort the chests with greater inventory space.
@Asura23
I only just now saw this comment, sorry. But perhaps you already found the answer in the other comments. You can disable sorting for a person or group by granting permission:
joe.invsort.noaccess
As you saw by default it's enabled by default (to simplify configuration work and make it "plug and play").
Hi JkcCurse,
do you think that it would be possible to more control to sorting,...?
I'm thinking about something like writing a command and only the next chest I open get sorted,....? Or at least have an option that plugin will be turned off on default, and players can turn it on with command.
In any way, thanks for this plugin, great job!
It IS only chests, could this be made to sort all of those things I posted about as well, please?
Is this only chests or does it also offer dispenser, enderchest, player inventory, etc?
@JkcCurse
Tried and it works nicely thanks :)
@BloodyChucklz
I believe the latest is 1.5.2 compatible. You have to download from here though...
Are any of the new releases 1.5.2 compatible yet or will that come later?
@sami0596
Thanks for your suggestion. I've implemented it, available in v1.0.5 or higher which you can get here
Here's how the latest permissions work. Default behavior if you don't do anything, sorting is turned on for everyone. If you want to turn off for someone (or a group) add joe.invsort.noaccess. You can then either remove that permission to re-enable or grant them joe.invsort.access. This setup accomplishes the following: - Still easy to use for people who don't want to much with permissions and want sorting turned on. - For granting only to players of a certain rank, you can add the "joe.invsort.noaccess" to your default rank. Then in higher ranks add "joe.invsort.access" to allow. If a player has both the noaccess and access permissions, they have access.
I hope that helps! Let me know if any problems.
@sami0596
Hi, do you mean so you can allow people access to it? Like give out only to ranked players?
I'll see about adding that (although it would be a negative permission ; default on, give permission to remove, etc).
Please make permissions to this plugin
@BloodyChucklz
Thanks for your suggestion, I updated the site.
@JkcCurse
Will the most recent builds at your link be labeled? The file name for "Get Latest Version" doesnt have any indication of a version number, so how will users know if that version is different than what they can find here on this page?
