iSail
A helpful tutorial!
We have finally made a YouTube video using iSail, and how to use it. The link is below!

Server, using iSail is @ piratekings.mcserver.ws (not my)
English
We have created this plugin, since there is currently no well-functioning plugins for ships that is well updated at the moment. This plugin will realize sailing and sea battles.
To do
- Improve sails manipulations
- Improve sinking (50% done)
- Make autorefreshing of ships
Features
- Realistic movement of ships
- Realistic turning
- Ships take damage from accidents
- Speed, acceleration, and turning depends on its size and sails
- Realistic takelage of ship
- Pumps (fast drain of water)
- Fast quenching of fire
- Climbing
- Small protection in shipyards
- Realistic fire: blocks burns for a longer time, and rain doesn't quench fire. It's made for removing broken masts from the game and for the smooth burning of everything. Otherwise ships may burn quickly
- Ship may kill players
- Cannons integration!
Installing
Soon will be downloaded archive with plugin and config file. Just unpack it into folder "plugins".
Configuration
Using
Click this YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1WDdD0zv7E
OR
Be prepared, because the creation of a ship needs a lot of time. Ready? Click! (wait until pages and movie will finish)
Warning
If you see messages like "no ship detected", know: You have to stay on ship in moment of moving to be part of the crew of the ship! Otherwise the ship won't add you to the crew!
If you fell out off your ship, know: you were not on the ship or you tripped and fell off. You have to sneak to hold on unstable place, like a mast or the edge of the ship.
Redstone don't moves!
All inventory blocks don't moves (you can only use it while ship is staying) ! But you can to use vaults or minecart chests.
If your configuration file doesn't works, just copy default configuration
Sorry for bad English.
:)
We at DivinityCraft are very excited about this revolutionary plugin and wish you the best of luck in achieving all your goals with it.
I only wish to suggest finding a way to allow for steampunk/modern ships without sails with this plugin, to broaden its possibilities.
Until recently we had the old BoatMod plugin which allowed forcing a burning furnace to be active on the on the ship in order for it to move. Having multiple furnaces allowed for greater speeds. Perhaps something similar could be possible for iSail? If not, maybe something based on iron blocks? Chimneys and engines come to mind.
Sail-less ships can be quite amazing and would be worth the effort to take into consideration, take a look at these from our server for example:
@JlJlJl
Would it be possible to for the sails to require 2 signs? 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom and all wool connected would become a sail?
@crunchycamsta
Hmmm, I'll try add this to config file.
@ikarirain
Yes, sails system will help to open and close sails.
And players must check their ships weight, because my plugin set waterline of ship automatically. It work with Archimedes' principle. ;)
@crunchycamsta
I think his goal was to create sails that could be raised and lowered. This would be easier to do with generic flat and squared sails that could go through a raising and lowering sequence easier. If that's the case, your sails would probably be difficult to use because the raising and lowering sequence isn't a simple up/down sequence, but angled to one side. I'll admit though, if the plugin could use sails like yours, it would be a pretty large improvement in the aesthetics of shipbuilding. And I must also say, those ship designs of yours are pretty awesome. =]
@JlJlJl
No offense but those sails look ugly, will there be an option to configure them?
My ships look like this and wouldnt work with those sails.
@crunchycamsta
Yes. If you place wool in ship it is not a sail. Sail must have this form. It can be closed or oppened by signs. Of course it needs wool.
@JlJlJl
Do ships have to have sails looking like that?
Now ships moves and turns with ecipage. Me need done sails and video. If you can help me to create video, pleace send me pm.
Some motivating screenshots:
@ikarirain
You make limits for yourself. Of course you can use ships what you want. ;)
@JlJlJl
Will the ship combat work only between ships? Or will it be possible to bombard a shoreline city from the sea? The reason I ask is because I've not seen any smooth-sailing ship mod yet (even in the past) that was able to cause any damage to the world. This may have been because cannons were never coded in as such, but I'm curious nonetheless. I would love to see a cannon included in the plugin that can be mounted at cities for defense against raiding ships, if it were possible.
@crunchycamsta
I always assumed the comments section was for discussion of the plugins and contributions via suggestions. If you wish to start arguing with another, I'd recommend taking it to a private conversation, because it'll only be natural for others to view it as angered and aggressive if you continue striking out at someone in an openly viewed page.
Second, Floppy has stated he runs a private server, which means it is most likely only accessible by friends and extended friends. It should also be noted that if he runs the server, he has every right to run it how he pleases, just as you are entitled to run any server of yours however you please.
@FlOppythp
First don't be selfish on my server no one would whine or they will get ban.
Thats kind of an abusive admin / owner
@crunchycamsta
Configurability is the key to success with nearly all plugins. Being able to disable that protection does not necessarily mean it is guaranteed to be stolen. Some servers, like mine, run with Factions (some use Towny, or other plugins) and if constructed properly, a player could build a bay to hold their ship within a faction protected zone, and then gate off the entrance so that even if it were commandeered, it would be impossible to sail it out.
Server owners often do things very differently from each other, and even I would appreciate the ability to disable the built-in protection, so that the smart players on my server will learn how to properly defend what is theirs, and the smarter ones will figure out the weaknesses to a defense in order to steal.
Configurability means you can use the plugin the way you like, while others can use it the way they like, so there's no need to call someone else's idea stupid simply because you cant see the reasoning behind it.
@FlOppythp
I run a server that will be classified as a Hardcore Realism Survival server that really emphasizes survival first against the world, but I would be lying if I said that PvP wouldn't be dirty, underhanded, and brutal. To that end, I agree that being able to break into a dockyard is easier than at sea and much more desirable in PvP. However, I also know that having that built-in protection makes the plugin easily usable by those who want the protection, but don't have other forms of protection.
Once again, features with configurability are what make plugins great. It's that kind of flexibility that makes a plugin far more popular, and if this plugin gains a great deal of popularity, perhaps it would inspire a good number of additions and updates for everyone (I'd love to see grape shot and chain shot, for instance).
@FlOppythp
That would be stupid, if someone wants to steal a ship they have to do it when its out of the dock, otherwise ships are never safe and all your players complain when their ships get stolen while they are offline
@FlOppythp
Protection works only if ship is docked. If ship is moving now, it can be attacked.
Plugin iBoarding will help to board ships. Somthing like hook. So you can jump with hoop by 10 blocks.And it can place wood blocks to attach ships. Boarding ships can't move.
@FlOppythp
I'll create basic protection.
@ikarirain
I planned creating of supporting plugin "iBoarding". It will realize boarding of ships.
@JlJlJl
I'm curious now how the mooring works. Would you take string or rope or something and tie the ship to a special block?
Also, I have an idea you could add to the boats, though it has the potential to become more complex if you decide to pursue it deeper. Like cannons, a ship could be allowed to mount grappling hooks that are fired at another ship and slowly "reels in" the other ship so that the attackers can jump over to the second ship and attack the crew directly. If you'd want to pursue it deeper, you could configure it so that larger ships that carry more weight would drag smaller ships along, and destroying the grappling cannons with regular cannons or by hand would destroy the lines that connect the ships.
@ikarirain
Ships in iSail don't have owners!!! Don't worry, because you can protect your ship by mooring. Everybody can use any ship. So you can capture any ship.
@FlOppythp
I've been programming slowly, because moving is difficult to program. Change the ID, date blocks are very complex. Add to this the signs, chests, furnaces. And it is necessary to develop an algorithm of motion and turns.
Soon release, but it late for 2 weeks. Me need 2-4 weeks. This is not 100%, but you can trust.
Don't worry ;)
@JlJlJl
A mod was recently released called the Archimedes Ships mod. Very much like zepplin with a control block, but I had two major problems with it. For one, it came with no cannons, and you could not mount cannons on it from any other mod, so it was transportation only. Two, the only person who could ride it was the 'pilot'... if anyone else tried to get on the ship while it moved, they'd fall through the ship into the sea. If these could be solved, I'd be the happiest trigger-happy pirate on the seas. *-*
I'm having difficulty on movement. It is very hard for me. But I'll try do this.
