Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

@bigscary
Couple of questions if you don't mind. I'm starting up a world that is free to the world but only 1 single world. Your plugin looks perfect for this.
1) I assume I could disable this plugin in all worlds but the one I want?
2) Is there any way you consider it auto claiming 25-128 without user interaction and without letting them claim lower then that? For example I would love players to claim there land automatically say with the chest or the shovel idea but I want to make sure they automatically get a very deep claim since they tend to be derpy but I also want them to prevent claiming say 25 to bedrock for subways systems and just pure mining / exploring.
3) Can I make it so only 1 claim can be made? So if the player claims 10x10 and have like 100000000 blocks to them they can't claim dozens of 10x10 just only one claim? Of course I'm not giving them that many blocks but I also don't want newbies doing micro plot griefing and such I just want them to be limited to 1 plot only.
4) The icon support sounds sweet. Can I charge this right away from the start and say still max the blocks to say 10,000 and like 10 credits per block to a max of 10k?
Thanks so much!

@cvxx7q
Expect a big release this weekend. I plan to include a fix for silverfish in it, if it's possible to fix them.
@bigscary
hey bigscary you never got back to me about those silverfish :P
http://jd.bukkit.org/doxygen/d7/db2/interfaceorg_1_1bukkit_1_1entity_1_1Silverfish.html
idk if that will help in anyway ;) (if you havent worked out a method to stop the monsters!) ;)
@leezallen
The only trouble I think you'll run into is that a player could use his golden shovel to claim part of your city's worldguard region, preventing players from doing stuff there like flipping switches or opening community chests. You can fix that by just dropping a giant administrative claim around the whole city, and you can use your piece of string to find out who did it and ban his ass. :)
@Bambennos
Are those other players server ops? Ops can do whatever they want. If that's not the issue, send me your server info in a private message and I'll come look.
Well... I've installed the Plugin and claimed a claim - but other players still can break blocks in it :/ What did i wrong? - There ARE the borders, so i installed the Plugin correctly i think.
Have this going now and it is awesome!!!! Took a while to come up with a config for the field to work with my WorldGuard City but all good now.
Cannot wait for PVP features to be implemented... this seals the deal for me!
Possibly the best plugin ever!
I found a bug while making the second video. It's visible in the video - can you spot it? :)
The video demonstrating basic usage is up! Please comment and/or thumbs-up the video if you find it useful. :)

Edit: Second video is done! This one shows just how good the anti-grief protection is.

@leezallen
There's no conflict with WorldGuard. WorldGuard might have some interesting flags that you can't get from GriefPrevention, like "no PvP in this area" flag. I recommend keeping WorldGuard for advanced administrative scenarios like PvP arenas or labrynth puzzles, and adding GriefPrevention to make it very easy for players to self-serve grief protection going forward.
Of course, if you're not using any of that fancy shmancy stuff from WorldGuard, then yeah, you can ditch that plugin and use this one entirely.
@Qwahchees
Yeah, sorry about that. It was absolutely necessary to change the file format in that version update, requiring you guys to clear your claim data (but not player data). Perils of "beta" software. :) I expect the next version will be a full release, so no more Beta.
@cvxx7q
Yeah, this is much safer than WorldEdit or ChunkFixer for repairing random "grief" out in the world, or cleaning up the mess after some uber noob refuses to claim his land and catches a grief.
@Qwahchees
i can answer that, bigscary accidentally used "_" as seperators in his claim format and this is bad because bukkit uses those for level names so he changed it and it should not be a concern now, however being beta you should expect thses things, in my opinion he wont need to do it again ;)
@bigscary
now i can get rid of that ChunkFixer and it smuch safer :P!
@bigscary Alright, I get what you're saying :) I also have another concern. It seems that when I updated from 1.5 to 1.6.2 the claims got deleted or something. Is that a concern with updating the plugin regularly?
@bigscary
You are right on two counts.... 1. that I should learn to RTFM!, and 2. That it is perfect!!!
Do you know how this will affect the current worldguard regions I have in the world... Am I better off getting rid of the regions in the city and setting them up manually as claims and subdividedclaims? I would sort of like to keep my central city as is and then use your mod everywhere else but will I end up with all sorts of conflicts?
This plugin does look amazing! If you want any help with documentation/tutorials then let me know!!!!
Added /restorenature for admins. Requires the griefprevention.ignoreclaims permission, but of course ops will have that. Here's how it works:
This will allow you to very quickly and very easily regenerate large areas, and unlike world edit, it's SAFE. If any player has claimed land in the chunk to be regenerated, the chunk won't be regenerated. If you decide that the claim is part of the grief (the griefer created the claim to make it difficult for others to repair the damage), use /deleteclaim to get rid of it, then regen the chunk.
My brother calls this "Jesus Mode", lol. :) He saw me flying around with land magically repairing itself underneath me.
@leezallen
We already have that economy thing you mention. See instructions above (and the admin details link for configuration help). So I guess this plugin is perfect, then.. :) Haha.
Have to say that this plugin sounds amazing.... I could effectively replace my WorldGuard regions with claims and subdivide them!..... The only thing that is missing is the ability to transfer (buy/sell) claimed areas to another user! If that was possible then this would be perfect!!!
@Qwahchees
I don't really want to do that. It would make leaving your build open to the public impossible, without also allowing monsters to wander in. I understand your interest in using wooden doors because they have a certain look. In the past when users have asked for this feature, I've encouraged them to consider using a wooden door on the outside, but an iron door on the inside to restrict access to only the most private areas.
You do want people to see your super cool build (all of it), right? :)
Hey Big, can I do a feature request? I was hoping you can add an option for locked Wooden Doors if they're inside the plot. It should be configurable inside the configuration. Something like: autowoodendoorlock: true/false
Thanks!
Hi all, I'm planning a series of short youtube videos demonstrating this plugin. Please tell me which features you think are most important to include!
@Mako_Shark
I suspect this will also protect your chickens from the new cats. But we'll have to wait and see.
@bigscary
Thanks for such a quick update! Wolves can be useful for hunting again =)
@bigscary
hey there :P and u did exactly what i said (altho u had been doin it way before i said it XD)
