Giants
Giants That Spawn Naturally
This plugin takes direct inspiration from FatMarleys' plugin FatGiants, which in turn was inspired by NaturalGiants. This plugin also takes inspiration from NodinChan's MobJockeys.
This plugin was originally written by rmh4209, continued on by pkt77, and is now in the hands of Mammothskier.
Features
The Giants Plugin can naturally spawn Giants that have 8 Configurable attack mechanisms Configurable Health, Experience, Drops, and Spawn in configurable Worlds and Biomes. “The worst thing you can say about homework is that it is too hard. The worst thing you can say about a game is it's too easy.”
Attack Mechanisms
Attack Descriptions
Attack Mechanisms | Description |
---|---|
Default | The default Minecraft Giant attack - if a player is inside the giants legs, the player will instantly die. |
Lightning Attack | When a giant targets an entity, that entity will be struck by lighning |
Thow Boulder Attack | When a player is 5-10 blocks away from a giant, there is a chance the giant will "Throw" a Fireball in the direction the giant is facing |
Stomp Attack | When a player gets close to a giant, there is a chance the giant will stomp the player |
Kick Attack | When a player gets close to a giant, there is a chance the giant will kick a player at a configurable height |
Fire Attack | When a giant targets an entity, that entity will get set on fire and so will the giant (configurable) |
Lava Attack | When a giant targets an entity, it can sets lava under that entity |
Poison Attack | When a player gets near a giant, there is a chance that it will poison the player |
Shrapnel Attack | When a giant targets a player, the giant will spawn zombies around the player (configurable) |
Spawn Zombies on Death | When a giant dies, a configurable amount of zombies will spawn in that location |

MC Stats
This plugin uses mcstats for stat collection. You can opt out of this by going into the plugin metrics folder and setting opt-out to true.

I'm working on fixing the issues with the plugin. However, fixing MobBountyReloaded is my first priority and this will follow after I fix MBR.
We had a try on your plugin and it works great. Unfortunately there was two points that we couldnt keep it, but would be awesome if you try fix it. The first thing is that 1 percernt spawn chance is too much, it spawns a lot of giants. My workaround for this was setting spawn limit for giants and solved. The second problem is a serious dupe glitch. Ive set it to drop 1 diamond, 1 emerald and 100 xp, but when a player fight a giant that somehow got stuck in a tree leaf they get infinite xp, dias and emeralds, but the giant do not die. Please, I would like to use your plugin and we are waiting anxious for a fix. Thank you very much.

@rmh4209 It doesn't seem so support floating point values in the percentage.
Also, it would be nice if we could control their view distance. They're much bigger so they should be able to see a player from much further away. As it is they just stand there doing nothing when the player is clearly within sight.

I have a request: Would it be possible for giants to have a throwback option, and maybe arrows or fireballs. I'm using giants as a rare bossmob and it would really improve the fight :D

I'm not sure why only Ops are able to hit them. I did some testing and it worked just fine. Strange. I'm working on the bugs.
Nice plugin, I've been using it for a while now. But there are some problems: All drops are doubled and only ops seem to be able to hit them with swords. Bows work for everyone. The configured hp of the giants does not seem to do anything :/
Why on my server only OP can hit giants?

Does this support a percentage lower than 1%? I'd like to try 0.5% spawn rate. 1% is far too common. I've tried 0.5, 0.9, etc. but I haven't had any spawn yet. Doesn't seem to work.

The new system I'm working on will be able to change drops in almost any conceivable way (weapon killed, style of death, etc.).

With the drops at the moment can you adjust the percentage in which the items are spawned once the giant is killed or is that what you are going to implement soon? (is that what you were saying?)

The modifying drops aspect of MobBountyReloaded and the drop modifying for Giants probably conflict. So if you put "normal" in the MobBountyReloaded configuration for Giant, it'll most likely work better.

And yes I'm using MobBountyReloaded myself and is a really easy way of doing it but for some reason your plugin doesn't work with it, not too worry if your already fixing it! :D

You should be able to at the moment, if I'm not mistaken. If not, I'll implement the system I'm reworking in MobBountyReloaded soon. It'll work very similarly to how you described it.
If by varied, you're referencing amounts, you should be able to at this time. I just double checked it.
Would you by any chance be adding the option to make varied drops for the giants?
e.g. (- 262:0,3-10,100)
For example:
