Chimneys SMP
Chimneys is a plugin, which allows you to create chimneys on your houses. It uses minecraft's particle effect, so you don't need any client mods!
IMPORTANT!
Chimneys 0.5.1 is the last version of Chimneys. I'll make another plugin, which will be fully compatible with Chimneys. It's going to support all particles and other cool features like chimneys that follow you or other entities, annoying door sounds and more to come!
UPDATE: Merry Christmas! ParticleWorkshop now has a DevBukkit page: http:dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/particleworkshop/
Features
- Creates chimneys
- Command + wand control
- Chimney wand - configurable; default = stick

Commands
- /chimney - Displays help for the plugin
- /chimney [tgt | std] - Creates a chimney on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney [tgt | std] [rs] - Creates a lever controlled chimney(rs) on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney wand - Toggles you usage of chimney wand.
Configuration
Configuration file can be found in <server_folder>/plugins/Chimneys/config.yml
Configuration nodes
- chimney.smokes - Smoke count
- chimney.frequency - Frequency of smokes. Higher = more frequent smokes
- chimney.radius - Minimal distance to see the chimney
- chimney.wand - Item, which should be used as wand(default = stick). Expected value is either an item/block ID or its name in bukkit system(one of these: (see this paste)).
- perms - Permission system to use. 3 options: OP,None,SP
- block-blacklist - IDs of blocks, which chimneys can't be created on
Permissions
- chimneys.create - Allows you to create chimneys using command
- chimneys.create.wand - Allows you to create chimneys using wand
Installation
Just download Chimneys.jar and copy it into your plugins folder. It's that simple!
Factions!
I've recently added some compatibility with Factions. Some of you may be wondering, whether it needs any additional configuration, so here I say it DOESN'T NEED ANY ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION to get it working. Once Chimneys detect Factions, players can only create chimneys in regions, which Factions allow them.
Removing chimneys
To remove a chimney, you need to mine block the chimney is created on( that's the block smoke is coming from :) )
To-Do
- Mob kill smoke
- MOAR FEATURES!!!

Edit: Change Permissions to SP
Changing the permissions gives out an error in the console (Op, server, permissions). Chimney works fine with Op permission but when trying "permission" it crashes.
added the permission node to the right group for th epersons which have acces to it.. however they are unable to use the /chimney commands
/chimney will show the 'help' details though /chimney std wont lpace the actuall chimney..
(Using Pex)

Yes, I'll limit that. Thanks for reporting it. It'll be in 0.4, which comes out in 2-3 days.
It seems you can put multiple chimneys on the same block face (like, 30, for instance), and hog all of minecraft's particles. Is it possible to limit the chimney effect to 1 chimney per blockface?
Sorry, closed this tab down and forgot about it until now. Yes to permissions, no to 0.32a- i posted before that was released. I'll tell you once I've restarted if it is working again Might I suggest you use "here" rather than "std" as well, certainly more self-explanatory. I tested the wand out at one point but it dissapeared after one left click, didnt nothing on right click (speaking of, you dont say which it should be). Could be to do with being in creative. Will test again once Ive restarted with the update.
@Jasonsj10
STD is like stand. It creates a chimney on block you're STanDing on. And TGT is like TarGeT. :)
Sorry I had to say this. But why is it STDs?
@pyrosine
Looks like a problem with permissions (still using /chimney std? use a chimney wand :) ). Attempted to fix. Download 0.32a Are you using permissions?
Seems to have stopped working for me with the 0.31 update. Trying /chimney std outputs this: http://paste.ubuntu.com/786816/
@Zenonic
Yes. It'll be configurable in 0.32
One last thing, would it be possible to have chimneys set to "off" by default if you make them with /chimneys tgt/std rs.
I was wrong, there was an error with redstone, something to do with REDSTONE_CHANGE event.
A very creative plugin! Only complaint i have is that it doesn't listen to redstone that often. Levers work if their on the block, but with redstone current it will work the first time, but then after a few power on/offs it will stop working. Not getting any errors about it.
@jeepman32
Hi, the key thinks are 2 nodes in config: frequency and smokes. Frequency tells how often will chimneys make smoke and smokes tells how much smokes will be created. When frequency is higher, smokes are created more often. When smokes is higher, more smokes are being created. Try this settings: smokes: 1 frequency: 16
Hi, I really need help with a perfect specs for the chimney smoke and stuff because when I place a chimney with the regular settings it is just a rapidly regenning smoke column.
@pyrosine
Just documented permissions. AFAIK, the chimney should stay on its place until someone removes the block smoke is coming from. I think it obeys every protection.
Will this have permissions enabled in the future? While I imagine that it causes no lag as the effect will be a block as far as the server is concerned, it may well lag the client if there is too much in the loaded chunk(s) so i would like to restrict this to trusted users. Whatsmore, you don't want smouldering buildings everywhere because some griefer realised they could do that. Also, does it obey worldguard protections?
@hammale
What I'm getting with your code are chimneys right on the top of each other. It's not quite right to make it that way. :(
@tomsik68
Ok got it workin :D its not QUITE as nice as your code but you can probably modify it to make it work. You can see the code on my gitHib here.
