CHDistantFarm
CHDistantFarm is a lightwight and highly optimized plugin that keeps your plants growing when you're away and the chunk is unloaded.
Features:
- Keeps ur plants growing, while the chunk is unloaded
- Supports all important plants
- Nether Warts
- Crops
- Melons
- Pumpkins
- Cactus
- Sugar Cane
- Saplings
- Uses the original minecraft algorithms
- Low level caching for maximum performance
- Auto unregistering of plants if they are fully grown or destroyed
Installation:
- Put the plugin in your plugins directory
- The plugin uses the database from your bukkit.yml (default is sqlite)
- Replant the blocks that you want to grow when the chunk is unloaded
- Edit the configuration file
Upcomming:
- PermissionsEx support
- Disable the features for a specific player
- Disable growing for a plant on a specific world
Known bugs:
- Growing does not work for the spawn area
- Thats a minor issue, because the spawn chunk is always loaded, and the game will grow your plants without the plugin

@Nextek
I don't think the growthRateModifier works? I've set 1 world to 1.0 and another to 0.1.
Made another person log in and watch 1 patch of 9 crops while i watched another similar patch, same pattern and same biome in another world.
They both pretty much grown at the same rates.
@GrandRiver
Possibly. I wouldn't do anything without MinecraftZacherl's permission and he seems to be MIA.
I could always just write my own plugin but that's a time investment I'm not sure I want to make. I only fixed this mod up so I could use it in my worlds, was just nice enough to upload for those looking for it.
@Nextek
Nextek, have you thought about officially taking over this plugin 'somehow' (not sure how that works legitimately) or posting it as a new plugin on BukkitDev so those using it can subscribe and get updates when they come out?

@tuxed Thats a very good idea. Probably the best solution if cocoa pods aren't meant to throw block placed events.
@Arcami That error usually means the jar was compiled and run on versions of java that were too different.
Just in case Ive recompiled the jar in the latest java (Java 7 Update 10). Just make sure you java is up to date and it should run fine!

also tested under R.03 craftbukkit build.
@Nextek Getting this error with Bukkit 1.4.6 R0.1 and R.03 http://tny.cz/3aae8129
Tested without any plugins.
@Nextek
What I ended up doing is hooking PlayerInteractEvent and schedule a task to register the block if we're holding cocoa beans.
Hey guys.
As per MinecraftZacherl's post -
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/chdistantfarm-grows-your-plants/?comment=137
Here is an Updated CHDistantFarm for Bukkit-1.4.6-R0.1
http:filesmelt.com/dl/CHDistantFarm.jar
- Added Carrots
- Added Potatoes
- Added Cocoa Pods (not currently working)
- Tweaked growth odds
- Added GrowthCooldown to config (min time between chunk loads to grow plants, default 240 seconds)
- Made plugin safe against block ID changing updates
Cocoa Pods are fully implemented and "should" work fine, but currently placing cocoa pods doesn't appear to throw a block-placed event. I think its a craftbukkit bug, but if anyone has more info let me know.
This is still MinecraftZacherl's plugin, and as such is still nice and efficient. I don't claim to own it in any way. I hope MinecraftZacherl picks it up again, but in the mean time this is what we have.
@tuxed
really great that u trying to update it, thx and waiting :d
@tuxed
Please PM me if you update it! I'm hardly ever on this site, and don't get reply notifications. I would greatly appreciate this! :)
Carrot and potato support added, cocoa pods are a bit harder to deal with but I think I have it somewhat handled now. Let's see how it goes.
I have some progress done on the plugin. I have it decompiled now, and I'm adding cocoa/potato/carrot support!
is anyone going to update this i see that tuxed said he would is there a date or anything also is there a way to add permissions so that you could give it to vips and such for added perks. please i need this plugin pls update
@tuxed
Please help maintain and expand this plugin for the bukkit community.
@tuxed
thank you
I'll take it upon myself to maintain the plugin instead.
Also hoping for someone to carry on this beautiful plugin. Maybe even expand it to animals.
I would love if someone continued this plugin, it's one of the most useful ones! :)
Other than missing food like carrots, I haven't had an issue on 1.4.5 dev builds.
Hey guys, im very sorry for beeing offline that long.
@getty or everyone else: Please feel free to rewrite / update this project. Im not sure when i will have some time to do it.
