Catacombs
Dec 2019, RandomUnknown at Spigot has taken over.
- Though I (LigerXT5) am still assisting in the minor parts of the plugin, RandomUnknown has spent a lot of coding work to bring it up to MC 1.15.1 capable use. You can find his continuation at https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/catacombs.73564/
July 18th, 2016 Updated Notification
From LigerXT5:
- For the time being, please use the Spigot Forum for issues and conversations. https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/labyrinth-generator-aka-catacombs.165251/
- If you would like to assist with coding, be my guest in submitting pulls. I know how to code, but only to a short extent. I am moving focus of updates to Spigot. Due to limited control I have on this listing. https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/labyrinth-generator-aka-catacombs.26582/ If you need to get in contact with me on here, the best way is to send me a PM, that way I get an email notifying me. I don't get emails for forum or ticket posts.
Only One Room Generating?
I suggest checking your config. If it doesn't have the 1.7 new blocks (Granite, Andesite, etc.), the plugin will try to build around them. Add them to the config to be replaced by catacombs on plan and build. Refer to the attached config as a reference/example. If you have a lot of caves or "air" blocks in the area of building, add Air to the list as well. Great if you want floating catacombs in an Empty World.
Catacombs - Random Dungeon Generator:
Builds configurable dungeons under your feet for players to explore and loot. I wrote my own level builder but I guess it's a homage to those text based classics like Nethack and of course Angband.
Features:
- Generates random multi-level dungeons.
- Only builds in solid regions it considers natural. Can build anywhere by adding AIR to config.
- Admins can build dungeons, Players can explore them.
- All commands are integrated with Permissions.
- Integrated with most common economy systems (using Vault) (optional)
- Secret doors
- Information persists using sqlite database (no setup required)
- Only the toughest adventurers will survive without armour, weapons, food and torches.
- Special chests at strategic points to add to the general loot.
- Configurable Dungeon layout and content.
- Dungeons can be size/configured so they work better with parties of players.
- Admins can easily unprotect, reset, suspend, enable or fill dungeons in.
- Multiple world compatible.
- Here are some Spoilers giving you a taste of what you might find.
- And here are a couple of pictures.

- Credit to the Vault team for supplying a simple way to hook into assorted permissions and economy plugins.

- Credits to Jeussa and MnMaxon from Spigot for updating the plugins via donations from LigerXT5
ToDo
- Replace Iron Blocks with Anvils. Create a config option to toggle this for MCMMO servers.
- Jeussa added a way to customize loot, similar to Essentials's configs for kits with item names, lore, etc. I would like a way to do the same with the mob spawners. Currently I have to use CreatureSpawners and edit each spawner to customize the catacomb experience. One person contacted me about adding support for MythicMobs. I have no preference on this. But the extra abilities, I am sure some server admins would like.
- Cobwebs only spawn once, during first generation. Though I want to say this is a bug, it would be nice that web had a set percentage, customizable in the config, either in general, or per catacomb style.
- We are limited to a set selection of huts, per say, that appear at the top of the catacomb. These are the buildings that you see at the start before climbing down to the first floor of monsters. There is no way to add schematics to customize these. Though we can edit the area after generation, the protection boundaries are set. Which then requires an additional worldguard region.
- Same as above, the rare/unique rooms are hard set, and would be nice to add some variety. I have no clue how hard this would be to add some more rooms in, along with each room having a percent chance.
- Add in a command variable to the /catacombs delete CatName. Currently it defaults to replacing everything and filling in the rooms with Stone. If creating in, let's say the Nether, it would be nice to add at the end the name of the block to use to replace with, instead of stone. Such as the Nether, it would be Netherrack, or using the EmptyWorldGen (currently for testing in) with Air.
How do i get it to not spawn any chest´s? ChestPct: 0<- it still spawns a few :/
Thanks for the possibility of creating catacombs in a templecraft-world! :)
Hardest thing is to ballance the drops :S ^^
Hi,
My players area asking about a message the receive when the die in the dungeons. "It Cost 25 to restore your equipment." I have not seen this message my self and was wondering where this coming from and how can they use it? I do not see this anywhere in the config file so I was curious. If it is there somewhere is it configurable?
@LunariusHaberdash The closest we get to random dungeons is the /scatter command
Is it possible to make this generate dungeons randomly like occurs with Fortresses and Villages? Just occasionally appearing on the landscape?
@DoubleZ How would you like to specify the enchantments on an item?
[Edit] how about this "diamond_sword:100:1:16/5:20/2" for a way to specify a sword with 2 enchants?
16=Sharpness level(5) 20=aspect of fire level(2)
@Zombiemold How do you think the loot enchantments should be controlled in the config file? There is the type, level and number of enchantments to specify for each item.
Should they be specified or random?
Unfortunately I can't find a simple way to call Minecraft's own random enchantment create code, or we might just be able to say "a pick axe with a level 50 enchant" and have it pick one or more legal enchants.
I love this plugin! Its a great one and I would highly recoment it for your own server
Doesn't seem to work even after editing permissions.
Throws out You don't have permission for /cat *
editLol, may have fixed it, It's a very round about process..Hopefully it will work now, Can't wait to make some dungeons with this thing.
Update - this thing works really well!
@oldjollysanta I've done a fair bit of the code for boss mobs, but it's only advancing very slowly at the present due to other commitments. :-(
@Zombiemold I'll look to see what enchanted item will take.
@akutare79 If Catacombs is now bring up the command list (rather than saying no permissions) then things have move forwards and we are on to the next problem.
What exactly are the plan and build commands you are using? I think Catacombs may be a little too sensitive to extra spaces in the command line so be careful. It sounds like your name prefix and suffix is off. Are you using any fancy command line plugins, or international characters? Try with other plugins disabled in groups to see if you can isolate a conflict with another plugin.
Any plans/updates on adding a Boss Mob / Boss Room in?
I think it would be cool to get to the bottom level and have a wide open space with a mob standing in the middle (be it a normal zombie with extra health/strength or a stationary ender dragon). You walk in, the roof changes to glow stone and the boss heads towards you to attack. Dark spawner rooms open on the sides to keep a steady flow of mobs coming in while you battle the boss. On boss death the spawner rooms close and the last treasure room opens with awesome loot =D... ah a boy could dream....
Catacombs is getting more use than EVER on my server recntly, this is great.
Please please, let us have enchanted item support. It's the one thing we are missing in the loot tables.
Whenever I try to use /cat plan it says I don't have the permissions. I tried doing what it says in the FAQ and disabling DinnerPerms in wepif and when I tried it again it just brought up the command list, and it didn't say that the dungeon was ready to be built. Also, my name had null as prefix and suffix.
I'm using Group Manager and CB 1.2.4 btw.
yeah, sry for reporting my problems before investigating more deeply.
I found the plugin that caused this and removed it.
Thanks and sry for being way to fast to report this
Its one of the best plugins i got on my server.
keep up the good work :D
@jinkos32 Once a catacomb is built and is up and running players (even Admin, creepers or Endermen) can't change or damage the catacomb unless another plugin is un-cancelling the events that catacombs cancels. You'll need to find out how they are destroying it and then remove your plugins in groups to find which one might be interfering. Also make sure they don't accidentally have permissions for '/cat suspend' (or any of the other admin commands). Give yourself the same permissions as them and do some experiments.
I found out that user can destroy my catacombs.
Im using a few plugins one of the is factions.
So i made it warzone and they cant longer destroy it.
Is there another way around my problem ?
@BigBadComplex Change the Trap Ammo section in the config.yml file to get nasty splash potions in the traps.
Monster eggs are also a fun way to spice up your traps
@DoubleZ Enchanted items in chests is on the ToDo list, I don't think you can do that at present.
