AeroGen
AeroGen
Planning
I am currently in the process of planning a new version of AeroGen for Bukkit 1.7.10 and higher if they ever update. Here are some problems I need to solve:- First and most importantly, Bukkit is dead, I am only posting here because people knew this existed. I am looking for a new modding platform.
- Minecraft has added a load of new biomes and previous versions of AeroGen did not change the biome generator. This means I will need to either implement my own versions of all the new biomes, or I need to program my own biome generator.
- Old island generation was very slow and caused some issues near the edges of chunks (trees getting chopped in half, lava spills)
- I want to be Minecraft version independent. I will most likely be coding my own biome generator so I can add features when needed and I won't fall behind when Minecraft updates. The result, of course, being that AeroGen will not fall out of date.
- Previously, all islands were a single biome, I'm considering making multi-biome islands.
- I'd like to add generated structures, like npc villages, dungeons, bridges, floating temples, and a bunch of other cool stuff.
- Generation is slow and CPU intense, so I'd like to make multi-threading available.
- Finally, I liked my old generator, but the islands were all very similar. I want to add more variety.
I know it has been almost 3 years since I update AeroGen, so the fact that I'm back and considering it again is kind of significant. No promises, as I'm a college student with plenty of other draws on my time, but I do want to have floating islands again. (Last updated: December 9th, 2015)
Oh sorry, I was ignoring this forum for a day or so, my brother deleted my Skyrim save and I was busy raging and working it all back... Anyway, I think I need to learn how to do a generator properly because for some reason I can't get multiverse to load this, but I had my server's bukkit.yml file say this:
where "world" is the name of the world, default of course. That made it load the default world as my generator.
I'll try to get it working with multiverse and then I'll reupload. Thanks for the comments!
As for the "fetching add packet for removed entity" I don't think that my plugin causes that but it is possible. I certainly did not code the message, but the different world type might have indirectly caused the message. It doesn't sound like an issue.
@Shirou7000 You need to learn how to use generators if you want to use this. Check out the plugin Pinapp, it can enable the generator for you.
Doesn't working, dropped the jar file in bukkit plugins folder -> it is shown that it is enabled in console, yet not skyisland are generated. MC uses default generator.
Sorry, but my laptop can't handle both recording, running a server which is generating stuff AND playing...
So, is "fetching add packet for removed entity" something that this plugin prints to my console? I never got these messages before using this. Can I turn it off?
Looks awesome!! This will be my server's skyland map! (:
I'm trying some new stuff out for making vids and stuff :D and if you want I can make a vid for you (already started fooling around with transitions and you know... stuff). I'll post a link when I'm ready :)
@NuclearW
That would be great, except my computer would kill itself recording while running a server and playing minecraft. I just think that those images don't really show the best of it.
Pictures might not do it justice to you, but I love seeing pictures of generators before I spend time installing and making worlds!
You could perhaps make a video, but I'd like to see something more than text to describe this.
