Scribe

Scribe allows players to use an anvil to transfer enchantments from a tool or piece of armor into a book and quill, creating a new Enchanted book, and destroying the tool in the process.

- configurable costs per enchantment level.
- If the cost would be too expensive, a random selection of enchantments will be chosen. remove/reinsert the item to try for a different set.

- 'scribe.use' - main usage permission.
Tutorial
Automatic Updates
This plugin will automatically download updates from bukkitdev. to disable this behaviour set `auto-update: false` in the config.yml file. You may also set `auto-update: notify-only` to have scribe notify anyone with the `scribe.admin` permission about updates when they log in.

Can you make this available for 1.9.4? I really love how this plugin works, but I cant have both 1.9.4 and this plugin at the same time now...
FYI, Fixed this plugin for 1.8.8 after all.
If anyone still uses it, here it is (I just replaced the previous one with a fixed one) Link Removed: http://www.mediafire.com/download/tyb9cgaaciv40xl/Scribe.jar
@HayamaT So I don't know about 1.8.3, but at least in 1.8.4 spigot made a breaking change to scribe. Previously these breaking changes were just a version change basically. All that was needed to make scribe work was update a version number. Now that's not true. They broke the link between AnvilInventory and an AnvilContainer which is problematic, or at least appears to be. I'll make another post if I find the time and succeed at patching scribe.
it does not work in [spigot-1.8.3-R0.1]. Is there a corresponding plan?
Updated to 1.8: Link Removed: http://www.mediafire.com/download/tyb9cgaaciv40xl/Scribe.jar Source: https://github.com/wd40bomber7/Scribe
I see why metalhedd isn't interested in continuing updating. Scribe is designed so it's automatically back-compatible, a brand new jar can just be dropped into an older version of craftbukkit and work. Unfortunately now that the repos are down, that means building involves scraping together all the different craftbukkit versions from illegitimate websites..
It would be possible to strip out the older versions, and make it 1.8 only of course, but still you have to manually compile 1.8, etc. In the process of finding all the older craft bukkit versions, I had to compromise so I wouldn't be surprised if I broke some/all back compatibility. It *does* work for 1.8 though.
Anyways, I updated it but I'm honestly not interested in maintaining scribe over the long haul.
Edit: I was super lazy, I failed to increment the version number and update the default config. To get depth strider working make sure to add it to scribe's config.yml. Something like DEPTH_STRIDER: 5 at the bottom (with the others) would work just fine.
Anyone willing to update this, I could really use this.
Anyone willing to give this a go for 1.8.1?
@mip6886
Correct. Its open source, if someone submits an update I will release it. if they're competent and interested I'll hand control of the bukkitdev page to them as well, but I am finished with minecraft development in it's current state. Maybe ill be back when sponge grows up, or an official api is released, but I have no interest in developing spigot plugins.
So is this plugin not getting anymore updates?
@mip6886
Its down. There are no dev builds though, and no development plans. I will accept pull requests but won't bepersonally be doing any development against spigot
Is the dev builds link down or is it just me?
@metalhedd
oh ok thanks, stay awesome.
@xDizasterCYx
already did, file is just waiting for approval. you can get a dev build in the meantime.
could you update to 1.7.10?
Well I feel incredibly stupid. I was using 0.2.2 thinking it was the latest.
Thanks,
LHammonds
@LHammonds
The latest official release supports 1.7.9, no need for a dev build. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/scribe/files/12-scribe-v0-2-3/
Was hoping to find a 1.7.9 dev version but the dev builds site seems to be offline.
Thanks,
LHammonds
@harl
Scribe relies on craftbukkit internals. It needs a new update for every craftbukkit release, and 1.7.8 is not yet supported. I will try to release a build today.
Sorry about the dev server, I'm aware it's down, I haven't had much time to bring it back up, but you're not missing anything, there are no new builds that aren't on bukkitdev already. I'll push the next Scribe update directly to bukkitdev when its ready
On a side note, your dev builds server seems completely unresponsive to me.
This is amazing. I have always been asking why this isnt in Vanilla Minecraft!!
