Portal Gel
Add a little Aperture Science to your Minecraft server with this mod which allows players to bounce on the Repulsion Gel and accelerate on the Propulsion Gel.
For a brilliant video showcasing this mod and showing you how not to be co-ordinated, click here.
Features:
- Causes the player to "bounce" when landing on a blue wool block.
- Causes the player accelerate in the direction they are looking at when over an orange wool block.
- Boots which prevent any fall damage.
- Able to have both normal and gel blocks.
How to use:
- To place a gel block:
- Type the command: /gelplacement on
- This will cause every blue or orange wool block be a gel block.
- Once done placing the gel, type the command: /gelplacement off
- Repulsion Gel:
- Place a blue wool block down where you intend to land.
- Jump onto it from (at least) a height of 1-11 blocks.
- Find a safe place to land after the bounce (e.g. not lava).
- Propulsion Gel:
- Place orange blocks where you want to accelerate.
- Walk over it.
- Zoom!
- Portal boots:
- Wear iron boots.
- Enable or disable their effect with the command: /portalboots <on|off>
NOTE: Falling onto the gel from any height above 11 blocks will result in being launched only 11 blocks back into the air. But due to a bug, some heights above 11 don't seem to work (e.g. 12 and 17 blocks high)
ANOTHER NOTE: Repulsion gel does not work in creative mode

hello every time I restart my server all wool fail to do its function. You'd know why?
update please
@VitorBatistaLOL
You wouldn't happen to be trying the blue wool in creative mode? Because it doesn't work in that mode.
@Jordanrock0
you need to say "/gelplacement on" and then put one orange OR blue wool to work! even thought, some times the blue wool doesn't work...
@littlegruz
Ok here is the problem. when i /gelplacment on nothing happen
@Jordanrock0
Got any exceptions from the console (use a pastebin link or similar) or descriptions of what is and where it is not working? Something which I can work with. Kinda surprised some of my stuff is still being used considering I have not been able to touch it for the last 3 months.
@littlegruz
It's not working in my server. My server is running 1.4
@Jordanrock0
Ok!
The portal blocks file is empty
@Iaintee
Nope.
But you have my permission to use it.
Is there permissions for this?
@littlegruz
Like I said, by default, the plugin does nothing.
You have to enter world to be enabled in the config.yml
like so :
worlds:
- world
- otherworld
world and otherworld will be enabled, not other.

I am quite happy you modified my mod (plus adding some neat ideas) and that you decided to show me your finished product. But I am not sure you uploaded the right file since the .jar linked doesn't seem to do anything in-game.
Hello
I adapted your mod to my own needs.
I'be glad to share my modification with you.
The link is here :
http://minecraft.gamingtv.fr/mine/PortalGel.jar
Here is the changes :
- By default, the mod do nothing, you have to specify worlds to be enabled
- You don't need to maintain SPACE bar now on bleu wool, you just walk and you jump.
- The jump high is more realistic to the Portal Game.

This has stumped me for some time now and I still can not find any solution. Since you mentioned that the data was entered into the text file, which means it is being placed and stored correctly, and it should work regardless of wearing boots.
Sorry, I currently have no idea what the problem is.
Great idea and really looking forward to using this. However am unable to get it to work. Have a R2 1.2.3 Bukkit server. Used both the permissions and no permissions version. Have enabled gelplacement and portalboots at both console and for user with permissions to do so. Noted that from this a text file appears in the server plugins/PortalGel directory. This has what I read as being location of the blocks that are supposed to work. However no joy on them working at all.
Was really looking forward to having this for a Minecraft party with a group of 8 year olds. Oh well perhaps some other time it will work.

Unable to get this to work. Installed on bukkit 1.2.3 r02. Have permissions bukkit, eteleport, and tmotd mods installed as well as the portal gel. All enable with no errors. Have at server end turned on gel placement and portal boots. Notice this results in the text file under plugins portal gel directory to contain reference data to the blocks in the world. So that all seems to work.
Client is standard minecraft 1.2.3 patched with mcpatcher, modloader, and audiomod. Zombes mod pack is also installed. Turn on /gelplacement and /portalboots and attempt to place and jump on blue wool nothing. Then place orange wool, step on and move sometimes appears to work sometimes not ?
Have I missed something here ? Do I need to enable something else, is a client mod install required to make this work? Have I got incompatible mods.
Help am hoping to have this feature up and working for a group of 8 heard olds to play with for a minecraft party.

Why don't you make it where you right click a blue or orange block of wool with a bucket water to make it a gel block? Also you could make it when you right click with feather(when wearing iron boots)it turns the effect on and off.

I'm sorry for the incredibly slow response, a combo of real life and having no notification that people have posted here were the cause of this (still my fault though :( ). I have also created a bugs thread in the forum section where I will respond to your requests.

Looks like this occurred when the toggle is off and I am walking over the blocks.
