Grapple
Grapple
Grapple is the second plugin in my line of mechanic adding plugins! Press Q while holding a tripwire hook to throw a grappling hook, and be pulled in when it makes contact! No commands, one permission, a good simple grappling hook that I couldn't seem to find elsewhere.
Warning!
Depending on how your server is configured, players may be stopped midair for speed hacking. To solve this, upgrade to the newest Craftbukkit, which seems to be more lenient in accusing players of hacking. If you use NoCheatPlus or another anti-cheat plugin, additional configuration to that plugin may be required in order to allow players to travel at higher speeds.
Permissions
grapple.use - allows use of the grappling hook, otherwise pressing Q with the hook will simply drop it.
Updates
This plugins will be maintained until it becomes impossible to do so, which probably wont happen! Content updates will be based on bugs reported in the comments, and the results of the update poll.
Mech plugins
Other plugins
- TorchThrow - Press Q to throw a torch, try it!
- Shields - Defend yourself!
- Sheath - Sheath thy weapon!
hey,guys,can I post your plugin on mcbbs,I am from China.
Guys, the reason the plugin doesn't work when you load it is you are supposed to drop it and it only works if you relog.
@Nicadrio
I believe this plugin may not be working for you since it hasn't been updated in around a year.
this plugin doesnt work for me can someone help i've tried to redownload it and stuff its sitll not working please help
is this compatible with 1.7?
@PixelatedSand
Wouldnt surprise me seems that the hook is the itemid not itemid:enchanted
I think i found a glitch, but if i add an Enchant to the hook, it will throw the item like normal, instead of grappling.
Grapple 4.0 seems to work on CB 1.5.2-R0.1 using Java 1.7u15 (64-bit)
Thanks for creating and sharing it with us. LHammonds
Wow, incredible plugin. I have a few questions though :
1. Is it possible to remove the distance limit when aiming at the ground? When you jump too high it's useful to be able to grapple into water.
2. Could you change the strength of the pull say by holding w to speed up or s to slow down?
3. Do minecraft vectors allow for swing mechanics?
4. Why do vines mess up the trajectory of the hook?
5. Damage not reset after a second grapple: http://youtu.be/apt6wJazkLA
6. Being unable to fire a new hook while an old one is in the air can be quite annoying. Would it be possible to combine acceleration from mutiple hooks or at least be able to use a new hook instantly while canceling the old one?
7. Using arrow trajectories and what appears to be a distance limitation based on line of sight is very unintuitive.
NOW IT WORKS THX
I have installed Java 7 now, but it still dont work, which craftbukkit is the latest where it works?
@mathiasfly
Unsupported major.minor version simply means that your Java is out of date, update to java 6 of 7, I recommend 7.

DONT WORK ;((
@twetwetwetwe
Yes, using on 1.5.1.
is this compatible with 1.5?
You should hook into NoCheatPlus & AntiCheat to stop players from getting accused of hacking. Both plugins have wonderful & easy to use APIs. Just turn off checks for the player before you perform the move/teleportation, and turn them back on after the operation is complete. Should take no longer than 5 minutes :)
@CulturedPie
Try tuning off your server completely before installing, and if that fails, perform a java update.
I put it in my plugins folder and it doesnt show up when i start up my server, i type /plugins and it's not there. Help please
Sounds like a great plugin- IF IT WORKED!!!!!
@EncryptedCurse
To add upon your idea, why not use something like the fishing rod which already has durability?
