OrePlus
Overview
OrePlus is a server plugin that modifies the amount of ore generated in the world when new chunks are created, without changing the underlying style of generation. Some typical use cases for this plugin would be:
- Creating additional deposits of diamond/gold/iron/etc. in each newly generated chunk.
- Creating deposits of ore at depths or sizes different from vanilla Minecraft.
- Creating deposits of non-ore blocks, or ore-blocks added by other plugins.
- Preventing an ore from being generated by clearing it out.
OrePlus uses the same algorithm for generating deposits as vanilla Minecraft, so your deposits will look the same as those generated by Minecraft. The plugin can be configured on a per-world basis, in addition to a default configuration. Each configuration consists of a set of rules for either generating or clearing out a single block type. See the Configuration section for more information on configuring the plugin.
There are currently no runtime commands or permissions for changing the generating rules, or for modifying chunks that have already been created.
This plugin is best used in conjunction with a new world, so that all chunks will be created with consistent rules. There is no problem with loading it into an existing world, but any existing chunks at the time the plugin is first loaded will not be affected.
Installation
Place the OrePlus.jar file into your plugins directory. The first time you start your server, a default config.yml file will be created with a few rules to add extra ore to your new chunks. See the Configuration section for more information on configuring the plugin. Configuration changes will not take effect until your server is restarted.
Companion Tool
OrePlus is based off of NBToolkit, a collection of command-line tools for offline map processing that includes ore generation. If you wish to use OrePlus in an established world and still maintain consistency across it, you can use NBToolkit to apply an equivalent set of ore generating and clearing rules to your existing chunks.
The project thread can be found here. This tool is not inspected by the BukkitDev staff, and you use it entirely at your own risk. Support for NBToolkit will only be provided via the Minecraft forums project thread or its corresponding GitHub project. I will not provide any support for it here.
will this be updated to 1.16 anytime soon?
does anyone know if it also decreases ore values?

hey fost
I tested in 1.12.2 spigot and works well
Hello. O/
This plugin is stil..
rock solid even in 1.12
I made a rainbow thing...
[Server] INFO [OrePlus] Loaded default rules: 162 clear rules found

With 57 meaty plugins loaded we did a world border flood fill with the
above generator and OrePlus.
OrePlus performs exceptionally well under MUCH strain :D in 1.12
You can to some degree change your whole world with this.
IT'S NOT JUST FOR ORES! :D
This is a pre-1.9 comment. I've been using this plugin for years and yes, it is still a thing. It's still generating extra ores as it always has.
Will it create spawners?
Will this generate a new world too? Say I have a good world but not good ores
I put it in my plugin directory now what?
I wish this was still a thing. Could really really use this.
@MythicalPolarbears
I don't know off-hand, so you'd have to try it. I don't think it's keyed by ore.
I thought Bukkit was dead? Anyway, I have my hands more than full with Forge, so I won't be making any changes to this plugin. The source code can still be found at https://github.com/jaquadro/OrePlus though.
Ello, @Jaquadro
I was wondering if it possible to layer ore spawns in the config, and what i mean by that is, for instance have multiple spawings of ie IRON_ORE. The reason I am asking, is I want to create biome specific ore spawnings. So... for instance, the desert would have an ore probability of say 0.85 where as a tundra would have a probability of 0.7? So I am curious if having redundant spawns of the same material, but changed probability and biomes would cause an issue with the plugin?
P.S. Having a Biome Categorized spawning plugin rather then an Ore Categorized would be really helpful, if you're every planning on making a new plugin? I've seen lots of other people asking about this online!
Thanks for your help!
@jaquadro
Jaqudro, I have just sent a PM about the OrePlus project
Hi everyone,
Despite the plugin not being updated since the 1.5.2 release, it still works as-is in the Bukkit 1.7 builds. You can continue to leverage the latest blocks and biomes in your configs by checking the latest bukkit API pages.
The clear rules are still broken. The information added in the comment below is interesting, but as far as I can tell this is still a bukkit issue in how block populators are applied relative to the default minecraft generators.
On a separate topic, I'm sure you've all noticed I'm not doing much with bukkit plugins lately. I moved to Forge over a year ago and develop Forge mods now. I am looking for help with the continued maintenance of this plugin. If you develop bukkit plugins and you'd like to be an author on this project, please get in touch. The work needed is updating to use non-deprecated API, improving the configuration, and researching alternative replacements for the broken clear rules.
I've found something that may help on solving some problems: if you gen the world flying on EAST direction the "clear" function works perfectly but if you gen the world flying on NORTH direction for example it only works the "generate" function but not the "clear" one.. hope this helps and a new update comes out!
Love this plugin idea and I can't find any other wich changes the altitude from ores spawning, thanks for this awesome work! Hope you answer! :)
Update please! Plugin looks great!
How do you change the ore spawn settings??????
In 1.7.x many biomes are added/changed - you'll update? I will add this plugin to my server at the same time when I update bukkit to 1.7. If yes tell me how much time approximately I must wait? :) Cheers.
Can a rule be added to the config to generate nether quartz?
@Intangir
Got the same problem. Also noticed a lot more diamonds than I should be seeing in a world no rules set
