While jail is not updated very frequently (sorry about that, shame on me), I always take care that it still works.
Lastest version should work properly on 1.5.x
Are you developer and interested in continuing Jail?
As you can see, Jail is barely updated as I have lost interest in this project. If you are interested, contact me to continue and give that plugin better future.
This plugins adds Jail to your minecraft server. Admins can define several jails and then jail/unjail people or jail them on time basis. Plugin also offers wide variety of protections, so players won't escape out of your jail.
Features:
- Jail online and offline players
- Wide variety of protections to prevent escaping or simply to create more interesting escape route on role play server.
- Protection penalties (increase jail sentence if player is not behaving well)
- Guards that will kill player if he tries to escape
- Data is stored in either SQLite or MySQL.
- Supports multiple worlds
- Jailing without commands via item
- Supports escaping for role play servers.

(you can opt-out from tracking in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml)

FrancescoDS May 08, 2013 at 08:15 UTC - 0 likesHello, this plugin has some incompatibility with EssentialsChat and maybe other chat formatting plugins. I think the problem is that most chat formatting plugin set player chat events in a cancelled state to override the default formatting. Your plugin doesn't catch chat which has been cancelled, so during the cell creation process, when it's time to give cells a name, you can't (and keeping void names can be very annoying). I think a simple edit at JailPlayerListener.java:60 would solve a lot of problems many people is encountering! Thanks for your consideration

pilvimaa May 05, 2013 at 19:17 UTC - 0 likesHello.
I am very upset.
The Jail is the best jail plugin that there is.
But that is not why I'm upset. I am upset because at the moment it is broken in too many horrible ways to be told and filing any more bug reports is next to useless because there is absolutely ZERO development going on.
You are NOT taking care that the plugin still works. You lie! Jailstick has been broken for ages - no response. Text disappearing from books, names disappearing from named items, colours disappearing from dyed items, jailtransfer is broken, jailing/unjailing offline users is horribly broken - no reaction. Guards - broken. Do I need to go on?
YES, the plugin still loads when you start up the server but all the fine features that make Jail into THE best Jail plugin that there is are slowly deteriorating into a pile of garbage due to the steadily increasing amount of bugs introduced by every new update to Minecraft.
I know you are doing this for free and for the benefit of all and you probably even have a life outside of Minecraft, but let me make myself clear on behalf of myself and the almost half a million other downloaders:
Stop what ever you are doing. Quit your job, stop going outside, leave your friends and FIX IT. Now!
Thank you and have a nice day (CODING, I hope).
