FatGiants
FatGiants will spawn Giants in your world with a configurable percentage and an editable item drop.
This is based on the looong forgotten NaturalGiants plugin created by MineRealm. All credit goes to him, but I have changed it enough (I feel) to warrant a new name and title.
Config
The Config will auto generate on first run, and looks like so
SpawnRate: 5 Health: 100 Drops: '341:8' FireAttack: false Worlds: world
OR
SpawnRate: 5 Health: 100 Drops: '35:1:100000' FireAttack: false Worlds: world,world2,world456
The SpawnRate is a percentage based on how many Giants you would like to spawn.
- Giants only spawn at night
- Typically only spawn on flat ground
- 5% is a good PERCENTAGE to start out at.
The Health is configurable, with 100 being the default, this has not been completely tested, so feedback welcome
The Drops and itemamount denote what items you want them to DROP and How many. So the default here is 8 slimeballs.
And lastly the FireAttack. Do you want the Giant to light on fire when a player is near, dealing firedamage to the Player BUT NOT the giant.
Misc
- There are no Permissions.
- Currently there are no plans to add extra features.
- They will spawn in ALL worlds and if any feature is added, it will be to choose the worlds where they are allowed to spawn.
Please report any bugs regarding worlds.
Caveat
If you use this plugin in conjunction with SurvivalArena, ModArena or any other plugin that will spawn giants and you have FireAttack set to TRUE, the Giants will light on fire... CONFIRMED
I think the drops are doubling, not sure why. If you notice this, please comment and I will start to bug test it.
Well no one has posted a comment for a while so I hope you still see it and are updating the plugin... I was wondering if it was possible to add something like
"Giant-Dies-From-Projectiles: false"
If you're shooting a giant you catch on fire if you're out of its radius but it only does a half heart before you stop taking damage, and for the game mode I'm making I don't want that to happen.
From your comment, I really hope you aren't completely abandoning this plugin - it's reliable, fun, challenging, and surprisingly powerful. My server was lacking until I discovered this. I never thought something like this could have so much to configure to make it better. I loved messing around with my members by turning on the fire attack and spawning giants outside their house so that they'd freak out, and switching up the drops made it a lot more fun (I eventually landed on one cake as a drop.) But tragedy has struck in this plugin's inactivity, and I'm really hoping that you will be able to find the time to update it for the 1.4 update (supposing Bukkit ever updates...)
Can you add feauture to control coords where they spawn?
I wish this would be updated. It works with 1.3.1 R2, however it's buggy with mob spawning. Every once in a while, where a mob is suppose to spawn, a giant will take it's place. I love this plugin, and wish it could be updated. :c
is there away to make them drop 2 items and if so what would I enter?

I like it! It works better than NaturalGiants, which didn't even autogenerate a config file!

I've noticed some kinda glitch if you hit them too fast with a sword or arrows without giving them time to flinch, they don't drop anything. Could this be the problem?

What's your spawn rates at? I keep mine at 0.5-2, and it works fine. Not too common, not too rare.

It was said in the description that the drops are messed up so I didn't even give them a chance. I use MobLoot for my monster drop customization, and it works perfectly. Try that out instead. :)
But the plugin still does need some fixes.. These 3 things may be worked around, but not being able to change their health is a problem. I want them hard to kill, but currently it's too easy with too good of drops. An update for this fix at least would be great! Thanks :)
How come whenever someone besides me kills a giant, they don't drop anything?
I may be using an old version- MASSIVE problem! in the night, around the player LITERALLLY 500 GIANTS SPAWN!!! i /butcher them (500 mobs killed) and they just come back in 10 seconds!! they MASSIVELEY lag the client AND the server!
still, been using plugin for a long time, giants drop 40 diamonds (rich players) also, the health modifoier wont work, if i set health to 50000000000, it will be killed just as easily as if i set it to 200.
about the doubling of drops mine are not doubling mine are multiplicated by a thousand millions, which is a problem because i made them drop diamonds. i have got a lot of plugins but htese are the ones i think might cause the problem multiverse(not drop related but cause lot of troubles usually) and mob bounty reloaded please help me fix this
So the default health for a player is 10 right? In the config default health for the giants are 200 so the giants are 20x stronger than a player? Imagine giants with diamond armour!!!!

Let them Drop XP Bottles
The EXP is blocked from Giants spawned with this plugin, which is a shame because I would like to put it in so my people could kill Giants and gain XP. And that's all I'd like, a simple system, for that.
I'm using the Heroes plugin, which for some reason, doesnt give players their XP for killing Giants.
Would love it if you could stop them from burning with certain plugins (not using SurvivalArena, Mo(b)Arena, or any other giant-spawning plugin with exception to essentials with the /spawnmob command), except make them burn during daylight like normal zombies.
Could you allow us to choose the fire-damage per tick to allow greater customization per server? I still want them to hurt.. just not soooo much. Especially for innocent newbies who don't have armor yet haha.
By the way, I'm using MobLoot to config the drops, so if you think there's a problem with your drop multiplier, maybe refer people to that plugin?

EDIT: It seems no matter the configured health, they always have the same health. 15 hits with an arrow or diamond sword..
Adding the giants is cool but in my hardcore map it's a bit useless because :
- The fire attack range is too large, we can't kill giants with swords because they kill us before we hit them
- When we disable the fire attack, they don't deal damage we hit them , they are as inoffensive as a chicken
- When we kill them with a bow, they don't drop anything :/
- A spawn rate <1 would be better
Maybe you can add an option to reduce their range, make them attack close combat, add fireballs without explosions ?
How many experience they drop?
