Chimneys SMP
Chimneys is a plugin, which allows you to create chimneys on your houses. It uses minecraft's particle effect, so you don't need any client mods!
IMPORTANT!
Chimneys 0.5.1 is the last version of Chimneys. I'll make another plugin, which will be fully compatible with Chimneys. It's going to support all particles and other cool features like chimneys that follow you or other entities, annoying door sounds and more to come!
UPDATE: Merry Christmas! ParticleWorkshop now has a DevBukkit page: http:dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/particleworkshop/
Features
- Creates chimneys
- Command + wand control
- Chimney wand - configurable; default = stick

You can also PM me your chimneys preview and it might appear here!
Commands
- /chimney - Displays help for the plugin
- /chimney [tgt | std] - Creates a chimney on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney [tgt | std] [rs] - Creates a lever controlled chimney(rs) on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney wand - Toggles you usage of chimney wand.
Configuration
Configuration file can be found in <server_folder>/plugins/Chimneys/config.yml
Configuration nodes
- chimney.smokes - Smoke count
- chimney.frequency - Frequency of smokes. Higher = more frequent smokes
- chimney.radius - Minimal distance to see the chimney
- chimney.wand - Item, which should be used as wand(default = stick). Expected value is either an item/block ID or its name in bukkit system(one of these: (see this paste)).
- perms - Permission system to use. 3 options: OP,None,SP
- block-blacklist - IDs of blocks, which chimneys can't be created on
Permissions
- chimneys.create - Allows you to create chimneys using command
- chimneys.create.wand - Allows you to create chimneys using wand
Installation
Just download Chimneys.jar and copy it into your plugins folder. It's that simple!
Factions!
I've recently added some compatibility with Factions. Some of you may be wondering, whether it needs any additional configuration, so here I say it DOESN'T NEED ANY ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION to get it working. Once Chimneys detect Factions, players can only create chimneys in regions, which Factions allow them.
Removing chimneys
To remove a chimney, you need to mine block the chimney is created on( that's the block smoke is coming from :) )
To-Do
- Mob kill smoke
- MOAR FEATURES!!!

Notice: I've flagged Chimneys as inactive, because it won't be updated anymore. ParticleWorkshop is currently under active development(you can already find alpha releases), stable release doesn't have a fixed schedule, but ETA is 2nd half of January or the end of February. It all depends on how busy I'll be. As usually, I'd like to thank you for your continued support and strong patience. I really appreciate both :)
@TomXPro
No, I didn't know that... Doesn't this plugin work with 1.7.9? Anyway, ParticleWorkshop has now project page and it's in alpha state :)
Uhm... do you know that we NEED that plugin for 1.7.10 / 9?
@tomsik68
Ha ha I know the feeling id love to get into programming this sort of stuff but im pretty busy all the time so my java self training is taking massively longer than I hoped.
I do love supporting programmers with their awesome creations, I know its pretty hard to keep motivated if you're not sure if anyone is interested,
great plugin by the way I run an rpg server and nothing quite as homely as coming into a town with forges and chimneys smoking away.
@Hmmcrunchy
Hey, you may have news whenever you ask for it :D Development state of the plugin unfortunately didn't change from the Jul 20 2014 when I wrote the latest update comment. Yes, I realize it takes way longer, than it should've, but I'm very busy(as always). You should know, that whenever someone writes just a simple message - like you - there's a step in development made, because I see that people are still interested in the project, so it looks like I'm doing some things with this today :D
So after saying things that don't make sense, let's provide some actual updates: I was working on AutoCommand, which I'd love to use with ParticleWorkshop. AutoCommand is now ready for production and that is step for ParticleWorkshop as well. Saving/Loading particles is now my highest priority in development of ParticleWorkshop and it requires me to re-work some part of system I've already made. Also, things like removing existing particles without lagging out the server is kind of pain... "When? Date? ETA?" - I'm very bad at dates, but people love dates so I'll try :D I usually get to these things during christmas holidays, so you can expect some progress updates during christmas. First development version might be released in December or January and stable somewhen before April.
hey any news on your new plugin :D
If anyone's interested, source code of ParticleWorkshop has just been published on Github :)
That thing can create particles that follow you/blocks/animals/boats/... so it's fun to play with, but particles aren't saved and the planned quota system is not finished yet, so you need to wait to have something to put on a production server :D
@tomski68
Sounds good! Looking forward to it!

I'll be discontinuing chimneys soon, so I decided not to add new features anymore. However, I'm discontinuing chimneys, because I'm making another plugin which will do the same, support more particles and stuff. I'll add the translation to the new plugin ;)
Hi!
I'm using Chimneys on my server and I love it! But I have one little question. It's not that important thing. It would be great, when the plugin has a little file for the language support. If you want, I make a translation for you that you can implement into your plugin.
Regards,
X00LA
@TomXPro
Download Chimneys 0.5.1. It's available in files section or in recent files section on the right :)
Uhm... something new? Still no release from bukkit support?
@TomXPro
I created a ticket based on your comment, so please let's continue our discussion there, so we don't spam the comments section. Thanks :)
Link to ticket: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chimneys/tickets/17-smokes-are-gone-not-visible-anymore-after-a-restart/
@tomsik68
It's working fine as long as the server is running. Once it has been stopped / restarted, the smoke isn't visible anymore (the chimney tag is still active on the block but it's not smoking).
I'm running multiple Worlds with Multiverse. Maybe it has something to do with it?
Happy New Year
@TomXPro
Your data file still contains all your chimneys. Try backing it up and creating a new chimney to see if it's still visible...
@tomsik68
Sent it via E-Mail
@TomXPro
I don't mind bothering. I made the plugin, so I should help you :)
So, my first question is: was there any error in server log? And if there wasn't, could you send me the data file?
Sorry, I have to bother you again. I found out that all "smokes" are gone / not visible anymore after a restart of the server.
Is there a way to fix that?
Greetings Tom
@tomsik68
Edit: OMG... I'm soooo sorry!!! I've completely forgotton... We're not using yaml file format anymore. So I had to add your permissions to our mySQL DB. Sorry for that!

I rechecked it multiple times. :-/

@TomXPro
Hmmm it works on my setup. The problem may be, that you set 'chimney.create' instead of 'chimneys.create'. You forgot the 's' at the end :) Please check that out and make sure your setup is correct.
Just in case, I'm pasting my permissions.yml:
And also chimneys config.yml
