TorchThrow
TorchThrow
Info This plugin allows for long range torch placement in a very aesthetically pleasing manner. Rather than simply providing the player with long reach distance, this plugin allows players to throw 3D torches which stick to walls by pressing Q with a torch in their hand.
Permissions torchthrow.throw: allows a player to throw torches as described above torchthrow.magic: gives a player access to the /torchthrow command, which throws a torch without consuming one
TO-DO
- Optional timeout of thrown torches, ie they will break after a configurable amount of time and drop as an item
Updates
This plugin will be maintained indefinitely, however new functionality will only be updated if interest is shown, so post a comment, download, and make suggestions, this plugin is for you :D

also. could you please make it so that torches that are normally placed (using right click) do NOT disappear. and the torches that are dropped using Q DISAPPEAR. thank you so much. if you can add this in, you are awesome and ILL DONATE :D
could you please make it so that the torches disappear after a given time? in seconds preferably. thanks! (please make it configurable) thank you so much :)
You need to make this so that it will just 'infinitely bounce' or something in claimed Factions, Towny, or Worldguarded areas.
First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates to this plugin. For some time I have been focusing my attention on pumping out a couple of plugins to post when updates become far between. Second of all, I have been spending the rest of my time perfecting Grapple, and a little more on Shields. That has left no time for development of TorchThrow, but I am happy to announce that I have resumed work on it, however regret to inform you all that torches sticking to walls isn't a likely feature in the near future, simply because Bukkit's api has no way of detecting when a falling block(your thrown torch) hits a block. I am submitting a request to the Bukkit devs to add this in their next Beta release, because without it, it simply isn't possible to use a 3D torch model and have it stick to a wall. If you are a plugin dev and have ideas on how to do it, PM me, but believe me, I have tried some interesting ways to make it happen already.
Cool idea! Downloading now.
@QBcrusher
You toss the torch item onto the ground without a plugin, as an item drop, as with any other item. This plugin makes you throw a 3D torch that turns into the torch block on impact.
i dont understand, dont u normally throw torches with q without a plugin?
@ivankrad
I assume you had toss item rebound to another key? Maybe I should mention that...
Might want to update this to say when you drop a torch. It took me forever to figure out why Q wasn't working... :P Nice job though!
Thanks so much for the update, works great now! CB (1.3.2-R0.2) beta build
Can't wait for them to stick to walls, this will be the icing on the cake.

@law1999
I don't think anyone else is experiencing this problem... try to update Craftbukkit, or re-download the plugin. If the problem persists, post here again and I will try to help you.
@NodexServers
The plugin used the BlockFormEvent, and it is almost impossible to make this a quick fix, I will add respect for WorldGaurd and Factions in a big update with torches sticking to walls, if I can get that to work. I'm currently busy on my command free grapple hook plugin, so you can expect this to update a few days after Grapple is released :D
Could you please make this respect Factions? Safe zones, faction zones, etc...
Thanks
Hey there, I'm not sure if I did something wrong here, in which case I would feel like a real idiot, but it seems my server isn't detecting your plugin. I placed the .JAR in the server's plugins folder, and it isn't mentioned in the console or /plugins, even after a restart. All my other plugins work fine, but this one just doesn't seem to show up.
@OtterTrotter
I looked through the code, and it calles the BlockFormEvent when the torch forms, so WorldGaurd should protect from it.
@OtterTrotter
Not a bad idea, and I think it is doable, I'm on it.
Does this obey worlguard protections to prevent griefing and abuse? Would also be awesome i you supported plugins like logblock so the placement was properly logged.
@fazaro
That's what the plugin does, it lets you trow torches in order to place them from farther away.
idk if its bugged, but I can throw torches for 20 blocks away from me, it looks like torches are flying
@eagleFMJ
Try the latest download, V2, it fixes this bug, and throws the torch with Q now
I tried this out but wasn't what I was expecting, I placed a torch on wall then a torch thew out of my hand and placed itself on the ground. Is that what's supposed to happen?
I was thinking that no matter where I was facing a torch would fly out of my hand and where ever it lands stick, now that would be awesome.
