Downloads:
Newest Version: 1.8.1 Beta | CB1.4.7-R1.1 Compatible!
ChangeLog: here! | ToDo List: here!
Features:
- An entity (player, animal) in light will be set on fire. Stepping into shade will douse the entity.
- The entire plugin can be turned off if necessary, or player and mob burn can be toggled individually.
- The effects of SunBurn can be toggled on a per world basis. World not in the worldlist will not be burned, v1.5.0+
- A player may exempt from being burned with the player exemption list, v1.5.5+
- A configuration file makes for easy control of the plugin, v1.5.0+
- Per-world configurations allow for a precise time control system, as well as locking the time and weather in a world, v1.6.3+
- A protective armor system will protect the player, v1.6+
- The plugin will auto-update, v1.7.0+
- A whole bunch of permissions, v1.7.0+
- Armor can now be toggled with /burn armor. Some people didn't like it, I guess... v1.7.0+*
- Wasteland generation, v1.7.0+
- AutoWasteGen, v1.7.5+
- Toggle AutoUpdate, v1.7.6+
- Toggle AWG info logging, v1.7.7+
- Custom armour IDs and damage values. 1.8.0+
- 1.8.1 - Bugfixes only. I think there was a problem with armour damage and I'll have to look into that. It was not fixed with this update.
- Thanks to @warezthebeef for fixing these issues.
AutoUpdates
- These can now be turned off in the configuration because it is REQUIRED.
- By default, SunBurn will continue to AutoUpdate
- Changing "check_for_updates" in the config will disallow checking for updates
- Changing "auto_update" will disallow downloading the update.
- If "check_for_updates" is disabled, "auto_update" will always be disabled, regardless of actual setting.

I am opening this project up. You may find the source at https://github.com/vsams14/SunBurn.git The Repo is public and you may create branches/forks of it. However, if you want to commit to the master branch, please contact me so that I can ensure that you are adding something that I would want in the plugin.
Thanks for your support!

I know this hasn't been updated in...well years but any chance u could update for newer minecraft versions (1.12 - 1.13+)
Is this plugin working for CB 1.7.10 ?
works like a charm, version of server is MCPC+ 1.5.2 R1.0 617 build. One miss is i can't control at what light level players are burning, also don't understand what measure is taken by plugin when to burn players :\
It's not light level - i have generated structures (by TerrainControl plugin) and updated light inside of them, so i've got 1-7 light level (F3 stuff, yeah) but still burning inside. That's not good
Author, please comment my issue!
There's a donate button now. Any amount is welcome, and will probably increase this item's position on my priority list. Let's be honest, right now, I'm not making any profit off of it and I'm not playing minecraft anymore, so it's pretty low down there...
@lewysryan
yeah ikr! WTF!
I'll try to get some updates done in the upcoming weeks. I won't give an eta date yet and you shouldn't expect much to have changed as I'm really only updating but I'll keep with alive.
Would you guys be willing to help me out with this via PayPal donations? That would definitely give me a much larger incentive to work on this. (I will regardless, just a thought)

stops my dam server.
To respond to a question that has been brought to light, I no longer have any plans to work on these mods. I simply do not have the time. I have stopped playing mine craft altogether and haven't even done any side programming in months. I have finals in two weeks so perhaps I will be able to work over the summer, but thus begins the cruel cycle anew. I will have worked all summer and have no time during the next schoolyard. Thusly, if anyone has interests in taking over this mod, please contact me, by email, at [email protected]
This will guarantee the fastest reply from me and the easiest for of notification, since those don't exist for pms. I am sorry to disappoint you all, and I thank you for sticking with me this far.

Does this work on 1.5.1? Doesn't seem to

running in and out of shade still deletes the armour.
Everyone's been playing happily now with the new version for a week with no further complaints so I've made a pull request!
PS. You may want to look into fixing the auto update or even stripping it entirely. I noticed when testing that if I didn't disable updates the server got stuck in an infinite shutdown loop without actually updating anything. I've seen one other post here reference it so it's definitely a problem. We run with it off as standard due to usually using my slightly modified builds.
FYI the lighting changes in MC 1.5.x introduced a small bug where people climbing ladders in well lit indoor areas would get burned. I've fixed it, we're going to playtest it on our server for a few days and if it's all fine I'll send you a pull request on github.
well i would have loved to use this on a tekkit server im working on building but the auto update killed any chances of using it, seems like it is a good plugin though
armor still vanishes when going under cover.
@Eelviny
This is in fact something that needs to be done. Thanks for the reminder. The commands are there for people who want to be able to edit stuff while the server is running.

This is a pretty good plugin, as I decided give my servers map reset a bit more drama and have a weeks apocalypse. Seeing as you don't have much time, and I'm only using this for a while, don't do this if you don't want to :P Would be really nice to have a permissions-based exception list, so I don't have to put every VIP on the list and instead just add a permission to their group. Also, I found all the commands a little unnecessary and I end up just editing configs. But does the job it's made for perfectly!
Hi, I'm the one mentioned by schneiderwm who has updated Sunburn and fixed the various thread safety related exceptions it'd been throwing recently. We've been running it with bukkit-1.4.7-RC1.0 without problems for a week now so I've submitted a pull request on github with the changes. Would be great if you could check it out and include them in the main repo. Or at least explain why the fix is a terrible idea that should never have been done :)
I'm planning on keeping Sunburn up to date as long as we're using it, but would rather not take over the project. If you don't mind dealing with the occasional pull request I'd be happy to continue to help!
I was feeling really bad yesterday. I am currently in a theatre production, which is eating up SO much time. After it ends, I swear I'll get some updates out. Anyone who wants this plugin to keep going, please let me know if there are any features you want added - besides fixing the bugs!

@vsams14
One of my fellow helpers on my server has been able to remove the errors cropping up. It's not a true fix, but it sure makes the log look better.
I understand that you're not to into keeping the plugin up to date, but would it make you feel better that it's one of the cornerstones of my hardcore survival apocalypse server?
I no longer have time to maintain this project. I haven't turned on minecraft in over a month, and this is getting ridiculous. Anyone want to take over?
