To become a waterbender, enter the following into chat in the server: /bending choose water

Congratulations! You're now a waterbender. There are two commands you'll want to familiarize yourself with next, /bending display water and /bending display. The first command will print out a list of all the waterbending abilities you can "bind" to a key. The second prints out what abilities you have already bound to what keys. If you've just now chosen water, the second command will print out nothing.

The command /bending display water will print out the following list (although perhaps not in this order):

Water Manipulation Water Wall Wave Freeze Melt Healing Waters Walk on Water Water Bubble Water Spout Plantbending You can "bind" any of these abilities to an inventory slot. Simply choose an inventory slot (default Minecraft settings: press any number from 1-9 on the keyboard) and use the command /bending bind [ability]. Once bound, you can simply use that ability (outlined for each below) by having that slot chosen. Note: in the event that an ability is more than one word long, you must remove the spaces when binding it. E.g. /bending bind WaterSpout not /bending bind Water Spout. It is not, however, case-sensitive.

For example: I want to use the ability Freeze. I press 5 so I choose my 5th inventory slot and I type into chat /bending bind Freeze. Now, provided my inventory slot selected is the 5th one, I can simply click and I will freeze a patch of water.

If you bind another ability to a slot that already has an ability bound to it, it will be overwritten. Additionally, /bending clear will unbind all abilities from your slots.

Water Manipulation

/bending bind WaterManipulation

Water Manipulation is the most fundamental bending technique of a waterbender. To use, place your cursor over a waterbendable object (water, ice, plants if you have plantbending) and tap sneak (default: shift). Smoke will appear where you've selected, indicating the origin of your ability.

After you have selected an origin, simply left-click in any direction and you will see your water spout off in that direction, slicing any creature in its path. If you look towards a creature when you use this ability, it will target that creature.

A collision from Water Manipulation both knocks the target back and deals some damage. You cannot have multiple of these abilities flying at the same time.

Water Wall

/bending bind WaterWall

Water Wall is a key defensive ability of waterbenders. To use, place your cursor over a waterbendable object (water, ice, plants if you have plantbending) and left-click. Smoke will appear where you've selected, indicating the origin of your ability.

After you have selected an origin, simply sneak (default: shift) in any direction and you will see your water spout off in that direction, forming a small shield of water wherever you are looking, so long as you are still sneaking. Additionally, left-clicking while the shield is formed will turn the shield from water to ice and back again, as a toggle. To stop concentration on the shield, simply stop sneaking or change to a slot that does not have Water Wall bound to it.

Wave

/bending bind Wave

Wave is one of the most useful defensive bending techniques of a waterbender. To use, place your cursor over a waterbendable object (water, ice, plants if you have plantbending) and tap sneak (default: shift). Smoke will appear where you've selected, indicating the origin of your ability.

After you have selected an origin, simply left-click in any direction and you will see your water spout off in that direction and form a large wave, knocking back all within its path. If you look towards a creature when you use this ability, it will target that creature.

Freeze

/bending bind Freeze

Freeze is a very useful utility technique of waterbenders. To use, simply left-click. Any water you are looking at within range will instantly freeze over into solid ice. Provided you stay within range of the ice and do not unbind Freeze, that ice will not thaw. If, however, you do either of those the ice will instantly thaw.

Melt

/bending bind Melt

Melt is another useful utility technique for waterbenders. To use, simply left-click. Anything around where you are looking at within range will instantly melt - snow, ice, etc. Since this is a more favorable state for these things, they will never re-freeze unless they would otherwise by nature or some other bending ability.

Healing Waters

/bending bind HealingWaters

Healing Waters is a quintessential waterbending technique. To use, the bender must be at least partially submerged in water. If the user is not sneaking, this ability will automatically begin working provided the user has it selected. If the user is sneaking, he/she is channeling the healing to their target in front of them. In order for this channel to be successful, the user and the target must be at least partially submerged in water. Again, provided the user is sneaking, this ability will automatically begin working.

Walk on Water

/bending bind WalkOnWater

Walk on Water is a trademark waterbending technique. To use, the bender must merely have the ability selected. Anytime the user walks over water, it is instead turned into a patch of ice. The patch will only remain as long as the user is within a short range or has the ability selected.

Water Bubble

/bending bind WaterBubble

Water Bubble is actually functionally identical to the airbending Air Bubble. To use, the bender must merely have the ability selected. All water around the user in a small bubble will vanish, replacing itself once the user either gets too far away or selects a different ability.

Water Spout

/bending bind Water Spout

Water Spout is a nifty utility technique of waterbenders. To use, simply have it selected. If you are in water at the surface and you try to swim up, water will begin funneling from below and lift you up in a column. You can move while in this column and it will stay under you, provided there's water (or ice, snow, etc) an adequate distance below to pool from.

Skilled benders can also use this ability to take no falling damage if they're falling onto ice or shallow water, as the spout will pop up and cushion the fall.

Plantbending

/bending bind Plantbending

Plantbending is a unique waterbending technique that does not have an active purpose. Instead, provided you have Plantbending bound to any of your slots, it augments the rest of your abilities. Instead of being limited to water, snow and ice for sources of water, you can instead use any plant as a water source. So instead of focusing your ability on water, you could, for example, focus it on a block of leaves and it would suck the water out of the leaves for your other technique.
