Gravestone
Constructs an inscribed gravestone, with a buried inventory chest, wherever a player dies.
Features
- Generates a gravestone at the location of a player's death.
- The gravestone will generate an inscription displaying the player's name, date of death and game session time.
- A "Treasure Chest" will generate beneath the grave containing the deceased player's inventory and armor items.
- Gravestone elements will only replace "natural" blocks such as dirt, sand, grass, gravel, netherrack, etc. This may be turned off in config.yml.
- Acts as a useful indicator, especially in SMP games, where players may gain better knowledge of exploration attempts and history within the game.
- Configurable options, Permissions and WorldGuard support.

Configs
Use config.yml to apply custom settings to available Gravestone options.
Option | Default | Description |
---|---|---|
enable-white-list | false | Use this to activate the white-list.txt. Once active, only usernames listed here will be granted gravestones upon death. |
only-build-grave-on-natural-material | true | Grave sections will only render-replace "natural" materials such as dirt, sand, grass, gravel, netherrack, etc. Set to false to allow grave blocks to replace any material. |
enable-fancy-grave | true | Enables a "fancy grave" which adds dirt and roses around gravestone. Setting this to false will generate a "basic" grave consisting of only a gravestone with sign. |
create-buried-inventory-chest | true | Enables the creation of the buried inventory "treasure chest". Set this to false if you don't want this feature. |
display-date-time-of-death | true | Displays the date and time of a player's death. |
fancy-grave-material | dirt | Material used around a fancy grave. |
allow-unlimited-graves-per-player | true | Default is true to allow for unlimited graves per player. When set to false, a player's prior grave will disappear and the area's original contents will be restored. If the player's grave block has been altered after construction then the prior grave blocks will not be reset. This avoids the potential for griefing. |
grave-stone-material | smooth stairs | Used to set material used for gravestone. |
enable-grave-lightning-effect | true | Lightning effect upon grave when player dies. Set to false to turn off. |
enable-fancy-grave-side-decor | true | Turns on the side decor for a fancy grave. |
fancy-grave-side-decor | red rose | Sets the decor used for the side decor of a fancy grave. |
only-build-grave-if-player-has-inventory | true | Only build grave if player has an inventory. Set to false to turn off. |
allow-grave-in-normal-world | true | Enables grave creation in the overworld. |
allow-grave-in-nether | true | Enables grave creation in the Nether. |
allow-grave-in-end | true | Enables grave creation in the End. |

What happens if "only-build-grave-on-natural-material" is true and there is no place for the grave? Someone in my server reported that he died on a thick cobblestone floor and found a grave without a chest, and all his items were lost.
@bluerhaps
Thanks. I've received a lot of great feedback and suggestions similar to yours and I'll definitely add more very soon. Take a look at the config.yml for the current list of available options.
This plugin is great! A lot of players on my server have complimented its features. Is there a way to currently or in the future that would disable a world from having these gravestones placed upon a player death. I have a few arenas and it works against keeping the terrain in a certain form.
Thanks!
@Vortextez
Very well could be consider how 1.5.1 is only in R0.2. I'll take a look nonetheless. Thanks.
@kdthehun
Thanks for the report.
I have been using this plugin for a couple weeks and have a reoccurring error. Any item that a player is holding at the time of their death is duplicated. This is true of every item/block from dirt to diamods.
[EDIT] I am using it on a 1.5.1 server so this could be the problem...
Items are dropped on the ground and are not placed in the chest. By the time the player gets back there the items are gone. I have gone through atleast 5 different plugins they offered similar things, but with 1.5 the API changed and the items are dropped on the ground instead of placed in the chest.
@kdthehun
Fair enough. I usually try and wait for the proper r1.0 release. Still, Gravestone v1.0.2 *will* work fine with CB 1.5.1. Is there a specific reason you need a CraftBukkit 1.5.1-R0.2 version? Genuine question as there could be a valid reason.
sigh.... 2nd Beta of 1.5.1 is out no update.... pls pls pls make a 1.5.1 compatible update!
@kdthehun
Emillan is most likely going to update it as soon as 1.5 Bukkit Beta is released. It's still only in it's dev release.
I would love to see a 1.5.1 compatible release. :)
hey there, love the plugin :) - I also use playerheads http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/player-heads/
it seems like these conflict... is it possible to make it so the players head also appears in the tomb (along with bones would be awesome!)
Is it possible to make this plugin only place gravestones on a natural death and not pvp?
@ManBeastPigDev
This has been a big issue for many and I'll definitely make addressing it a priority. Thanks for the feedback and for giving it a try. Best, Ernest
I know its a big ask, but could it be made so that it wont place graves on land protected by
-WorldGuard -GriefPrevention
Maybe other systems for other people. I loved this plugin and the players did too. But it essentailly griefed half the server. If you have thousands of players pvping it gets messy fast. Spawn had loads as people must have done /spawn when they were on fire or something. The shopping mall looked like the killing fields in 2 hours.
If this can be fixed i'd love to keep it as its very very popular.
It works mostly but a couple of issues....
1. Some players report empty chests, or duplicated items in chests.
2. The graves go on NON-Natural blocks like Stone, NetherBrick and so on.
If that could be fixed that would be great.
other that that we like it and have it running.
A side problem is tat if someone gets killed on protected land they cant get their stuff
but the owner can take it, but thats not your problem tho
Hi, emillan!
Could you add command for removing all the tombs and recovering map where tombs is before?
EDIT: coreprotect cannot recover it.
oh and 1.4.7 plugins are compatible with 1.5 bukkit servers i have tryed it it works
1.5 and 1.5.1 are compatible
@EliteAlpha
1.5.1 is still a development build, not even in beta yet.
